The most irritating thing about MobileMe in my opinion is that so many core OSX services offer things like sync bookmarks or e-mail between computers, etc., but the fact it's a pay only service means those settings are USELESS to those of us that have no interest in paying a yearly fee to use a service that is otherwise inferior to a free GMail account. Those sync between computer features are the only ones I would have any interest in using at all anyway, so
I'd like to see a "free" MobileMe that just handles those basic sorts of functions. They could have a pay tier for everything else (mail, web hosting, etc.). But even there, Google is FREE. If Apple wants to compete with Google, it's going to have to stop charging for every nickel and dime thing. If Apple has carried anything over from the "No Jobs" day, it's that greedy nickel and dime the user base to death mentality. For awhile, it looked like Apple was starting to lower prices and offer hardware that was more competitive with Windows machines (and the Intel switch made that cheap for them to do), but then it just sort of stalled out and Apple kept their prices high while everyone else went sub-$1000 for GOOD hardware.
Apple has ONE offering below $999 and it's not updated very often and it's unnecessarily small for its function (it would run so much faster if it were a bit larger and had 3.5" 7200 RPM hard drive and a good quality GPU in it at which point it would be useful for the emerging gaming market for Macs). But no, the iPad is Apple's focus. I'm not sure we will ever see another Mac Mini or Apple TV hardware update. Those could be Apple's key to getting a lot more switchers to come to OSX, but they seem more concerned with getting more people to buy their cell phones than their computers.
I wanted to buy a 2nd power supply for my MBP so that when I move it between my den's dock setup and my home recording studio setup in another room I wouldn't have to keep moving the power supply with it (just unplug and replug and I'm done). I ordered one online at a decent price from eBay and it was DOA. I went to Best Buy to use a $70 coupon and they were 100% out of them. The nearest Apple Store is around 70 miles away. Apple manages to sell iPhones at Wal-Mart and Radio Shack, but just TRY and find computer accessories locally. Ugh.
