New MacPro's, MacBook Pro's updated with memrom and full showing of leopard with an estimated ship date (which I hope will be late winter/early spring). Leave the iMacs and iPods for Paris.

All I want is an in-depth view of Leopard and maybe an updated iMac! :)
I'm with you, Caitlyn.

I really just want to see Leopard... not a short glance, I want to see a lot. (I'm predicting a MWSF 07 release for Leopard).

I just want an Intel based desktop mac that can be hooked up to an external monitor... something besides the mini. MacPro is no doubt what I am looking for :)

I'll chime in with wanting to know more about Leopard and when it will be released. I just bought a new Black MacBook, so hardware wise I'm good to go. Although I could always update my iPod (3G).

Why would an Intel PowerMac not be the Mac Pro?

Maybe they just don't like the name...but like it or not it's coming.

I'm pretty much just waiting to see 10.5. I'm holding off any harware purchase until I know what 10.5 is going to require. I wouldn't doubt that they put in features that the Macbooks can't support. When they introd coreimage and even quartz extreme many models that were shipping or were less than a year old couldn't support it.

What I want!

I want a 13 inch MacBook Pro with a video card, aluminum case, no whine or moo, and a DL super drive.

I want Merom to be included in that, but I don't want a heat problem.

I want the new OS to be shipped with it.

Oh, did I mention I want it all for $1500.

I also want an updated ACD, and the price to drop to $900 for a 24 inch. That's right, a 24 inch display. I don't like odd numbers for display sizes.

I also want a mac that is something between a mini and a pro. I want a lot of hard drive expansion space, and the option to put different cards into, but i don't need massive processing power like a quad core.

That's all for now.

Yep - I want all that too... plus the moon on a stick! ;)

A look at Leapord, and maybe definately a big update to one of the current Macs.

Specifically:

A mini revision with GMA 965 and scalability to the full VRAM accessible (or at least announced for Leopard in Jan), and a 1.83 or 2.00 either Yonah or a Merom (but I wouldn't hold my breath for that).

But I would take a serious look at mid-sized Mac (Mac Pro) tower - a desktop in between the mini and the pro, with merom or conroe, dedicated graphics, room for 2 HDD's. Expandable but affordable. Say $1100-1500.

Here's my take:

WWDC
MacPro (Dual and Quad Conroe)
MacBook Pro (Merom, Glossy screen as standard)
iMac (Merom, Glossy screen as standard)
Leopard announced for Jan. 2007

Paris
Mac Mini (Merom, GMA965)
Wireless Mighty Mouse
iPods (40GB & 80GB)

November
MacBook (Merom, GMA965)

Nice, but remember that Conroe doesn't support Quad architechture, and BTW, why would it be called MacPro? That sucks, there's the iMac for the consumer, and the PowerMac for the Pro. The MacBook for the consume, and the MBP for the pro, and MacMini for the loser.:D

I'm hoping for new Power Macs along with info relating to Leopard (and a release date for that would be the icing on the cake)

Why wouldn't it be called the Mac Pro?

You're the second person in this thread to state that an Intel "PowerMac" wouldn't get the new naming scheme. Why is this? Was there some article I missed?

I am considering purchasing a Mac Pro as well, but I think that I might wait until Kentsfield is released.

Personally, I don't think Kentsfield (due January '07) looks that good. Sure, it's got a pair of Conroes in one package, but it's saddled with the venerable FSB. Four cores and not much bandwidth to the rest of the system. Hopefully Intel will be able to improve on this to some degree before it's released.

The Inq. has a story on this: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=32577

Post-Conroe/Merom/Woodcrest, the next generation of Intel chips - Nehalem - are the ones to look out for (in 2008): they finally ditch the FSB and move to CSI instead, which is similar to Hypertransport (used by both AMD and the current Power Macs). These should be very impressive indeed.

I think a dual, dual-core Woodcrest-powered Mac Pro would be a fine machine and would last me for a good few years. My PC is over four years old and is still going strong (the Mac Pro would replace both this and my PPC Mac mini).

I'd love to see that too, but I guess it is pretty unlikely :(

If Leopard was coming out around January of '07, I'd be very happy with that! I can't wait to see what it has to offer.

Merom and X1800

Personally, I'm really hoping for an even better graphics card in the Macbook Pro, especially the 17".
Not to say the X1600 is at all bad. It seems really great actually...
...but I'd still rather see an X1800 or something in there come August.
And of course the C2D 2.33Ghz!
And being available ASAP. Preferrably tomorrow.
