This is the first i saw the specs of the Moto X 2015 3rd generation.
This look promising!

It’s early days yet, but we are beginning to see some interesting factoids about the rumoured Moto X 3rd Gen appear. A couple of days ago it was leaked that the next model of the Moto X series will sport a Snapdragon 808 processor (ala the LG G4) as well as a higher resolution display (1440 x 2560), and now we have news that it will carry a 16MP camera module .

Moto X 3rd Gen to get OIS camera

On top of the bump in megapixels, the camera will also come with Clear Pixel technology as well as optical image stabilisation (OIS). Besides being able to record in slow motion, it will also support 4K video capture. While 1080p can be recorded in 120FPS. If that isn’t enough, the Moto X 3rd Gen should manage to record 720p video in an amazing 240FPS. Naturally, this is a leak, so it can’t be taken as gospel that the camera specifications here will be the same when the handset is officially announced by Motorola, which is expected to be in September. Just another 4 months or so to go though and I’m sure there will be many more rumours and leaks before the official unveiling.

to me the Moto X is a lot like the HTC One...great design and software. But it lacks a great camera.

Yep I would kill for stockish android with a good camera. I think the nexus 6 is really the only device that arguably fits that bill, but I really don't prefer the size. Sony's next gen and moto x 2015 are my hopes!

Camera's not that important to me and if any bigger battery's just going to be eaten by the QHD display I'll probably stick with the '14. Wireless charging would be nice, but that's not reason enough to change either.

Size is going to be an important factor here too. I hope they stick with 5.2" max, though I think QHD isn't a necessity, I just want them to use a really great panel even if it's 1080p only. Make sure it's a decent panel in daylight too.

Make the front have dual speakers, rather than the single (albeit fairly impressive).

And keep same thickness but increase battery size. Don't make it thinner.

QHD would kill me for me. I have become more smitten with my 2014 lately. I once said no more phablets for me and I think I might end up sticking with that going forward. That throws a couple of upcoming devices out of the running but I think I would be better off sticking with a phone more than a phablet.

Yes indeed, I thought manageable size goes without saying when talking about the moto x :p Or at least, I hope motorola thinks that way, now you guys are scaring me

I don't care about QHD either, I won't complain about its implementation if the compromises to accommodate it arent too harsh, visibility in sunlight is much more important for me - would much rather have sd card but nobody is asking me

A QHD display in a smallish device, it would not work for me. Hasn't the X grown in size?
Yes it has grown in size. Wasn't the original Moto X 4.7 then 2nd gen was 5.2 maybe the 3rd gen goes to 5.5?

I hope not. It's a shame that brands get caught up in spec wars regardless of real actual value to the user. Bigger numbers on screen size, resolution, mega-pixels etc. don't necessarily make devices better.

...adding, all the Moto X needs is better camera firmware with OIS, wireless charging and a little bigger battery. It's not rocket science and fully knowable within five minutes of market research on any Android BBS.

Are you guys talking about the phone Moto bundles in with headphones for $350:)

I mean, not to be mean but after 2 straight failures to really get any market share what makes you think the X x 3 is gonna be any different? It's a underpower phone that sucks and cannot compete on a large scale.

It's something Moto should sell to prepaid for $99 and call it a a day.

Doesn't the E and G sell pretty well? Who's gonna buy the X which is practically a failure when the lower end models sell much better?

I seen like 2 or 3 X's in public, it's for hard core techies (the forum crowd) it would even compete with the M9 when it comes out.

They might as well scrap the X and just push the prepaid options, far better business model and ditch the X period.

i really dont care if what phone I use has any market share though

the moto x at 350 is a hell of a value IMO, dont really understand how it is underpowered except for camera. The G and E are certainly more underpowered

I currently use a GS4 GPE, they probably sold like 1000 or something :)

Those two thoughts make a lot of sense together. Spot on. SMH...

Like the HTC one m9 before it came out, the new moto x would have to really knock it out of the park for me to consider it.

Battery life, camera, and design would have to be spot on. Price too.

Underpowered phone that sucks? When it was released 8 months ago, it had one of the top processors with the snapdragon 801, quad-core cpu at 2.5ghz and an Adreno 330 GPU. Not sure, where the 'underpowered' part comes in? And while you may think it sucks, many people don't.

I'm just glad it isn't running an awful skin on top, like Touchwiz, that eats memory for breakfast. Moto is the next best to Nexus when it comes to the OS.

It performs as good as if not better than the newest flagships just out .... Stock android fly's on it.

Any news on the upcoming Moto X?

I hope Motorola nail it. I never see anyone with a Moto X in the UK (the Moto G is super popular, of course).

There something about the Moto X line that has always captured my attention. I had the original and loved its design and take on stock android w/very useful tweaks. Then the 2014 variant came out and improved on the design and specs but, sadly, the camera was still a weak point.

I'll echo some of the earlier sentiments. If they keep the existing form factor, improve battery life, much improved camera and do dual front facing speakers then I'll have a hard time not picking one up. I don't care if it has QHD (while I think the s6 screen is amazing) 1080p is more than enough if it's done right. Give me 5hr SOT, a great camera, great screen and the current form factor and we'll have a winner!

Agreed, I like that dimple.

For me I just want them to improve screen / display quality. Not talking resolution here. 1080p is fine. But give me a fantastic colour accurate display.

Likewise camera - they can keep 13mp but just make the optics excellent and the software importantly to take advantage of it.

Keep the Moto X trademark design and I'm sold .....

Agreed, and I hope they have a 64GB version from launch.
