Is it normal for Android phones to lose so much battery when in stand by? I have a Moto X for work use, and the battery drains like 30-40% when hardly used at the end of the day. Not many applications installed besides GroupMe and the standard social networks. Phone is usually always connected to wi-fi.. screen time is usually never more than an hour on.

Something may be wake locking the phone. Do you have location history/reporting turned on? If you do turn it off in google maps. It doesn't effect anything but background location reporting for crowd sourcing and keeping track of location history. All apps including maps that use location will still function.

Question for anyone that went from the iPhone to the Moto X:

Is the Moto X enough of an increase in screen size (from the iPhone)? Or do you wish it were just a tad larger?

Thanks in advance....

EDIT: Oh wait, one more question:

I know that the Moto X has to be "trained" to understand your voice correctly -- but can it recognize more than 1 voice? For example, if my wife or my son use my phone, will the Moto X / Google Now feature understand them? Or not so much??

Thanks again!

google now will still work, but I do not think their voices will actually wake the phone up (hands free feature). As someone who has used both an iphone and moto x, the screen size is a welcomed changed and I do not wish for anything larger.

Bummer. I think my son (in particular) would love to play with this feature.

Thanks. My ONLY reason for thinking about an Android phone is due to the iPhone's small screen size -- period. I'd hate to go through the hassle of switching to Android for a larger screen, only to find that it's not quite large enough.

Now $99 on contract through the moto maker site.

Yup, sadly I think it's the beginning of the end for the Moto X. It's now up against the 'still in short supply and high in demand' iPhone 5s, the Note III, the G2 (I've seen it getting quite the push, at least around here in central FLA), and soon the Nexus 5, not to mention the still excellent HTC One and Galaxy S4.

Motorola really dropped the ball not rolling out the customization to all carriers. I had an upgrade to burn but ultimately decided instead to use it to get an iPhone 5S :)eek: :p). I certainly hope they keep at it, learn from their mistakes this go around and bring out something even better with their next attempt.

Not to mention how awful the moto x commercials are.

I hope so, there are many things I like about the Moto-X. If it had the Snapdragon 800 I'm convinced it would have blown everything away. The nerd crowd sure would have loved it.

The price vs specs was hard for many to wrap their head around, myself included. I think it is a great phone though, should have had lower pricing to begin with :(

I like the commercials too :p

Agreed, I really liked much about it, especially the lightly touched stock OS with what I consider to be useful add-ons. I also loved the size/form factor but had mixed feelings about the build materials and display (720p was fine, colors/temp/brightness of the AMOLED was not so great, IMO). Either way, it was a big step in the right direction and I'm hoping they build on it.

Agreed the software is stellar. I actually prefer the 720p / higher performance approach, but I hear you on amoled.

Form factor is fantastic, I dont know why there can't be more flagships at that size. I mean the note 3 is fantastic, but I have to draw the line on size somewhere :p.

Can't forget about those Motorola radios.

I actually like the Motorola commercials.

Really? I feel they are far too long and would venture most have no idea it is for a phone. They need commercials that focus on features. They are not Samsung and apple, so they can't get away with unrelated commercials.

I think they attack typical areas most consumers care about. I also personally think they're hilarious. Do the touch less controls and active notifications not count as features?

I just think too much gets lost in the commercials. They tried to be funny and failed IMHO

Motorola announces Project Ara: http://phandroid.com/2013/10/29/motorola-project-ara/

an open hardware platform with modular components ala Phonebloks

Motorola (and Google?) gonna really try to bring customization to hardware? Build your own phone?

Could be interesting... could be a bust.

Is no one going to jump on the Moto X deals? Cause at $50 dollars or so to get it, it makes the MX a pretty dang good deal... It's no longer priced foolishly at $199.

The moto x really appealed to the Nexus crowd. Now that the n5 is out they are unfortunately late.

And they still haven't opened up the Motomaker to other carriers. I sincerely hope Motorola at least learned from this completely botched launch and can do a proper job next time.

100%.

Having said that, I actually may get some people to grab the MX now that it's dramatically reduced in price (w/ contract). In other words, now that it's priced right. ;)
