For those of you patiently waiting on the update for the camera, a buddy on another site, who's participating in the soak test for AT&T, posted these a bit ago. He says it shouldn't be much longer, probably next week that AT&T should have the update out.

I think the improvement is pretty damn dramatic.

Thanks for posting those! That is a dramatic difference. I wonder how Moto X stacks up with the S4 after it has the update?

Yep. Taken just before the update and just after. Same lighting conditions and same time of day.

It's incredible, isn't it? If I didn't know and trust the guy, I'd think they might have been doctored. But I know he's legit.

I truly can't wait for this update.

I know you've probably seen me ask this question before but how is this phone on heat? Do you feel that it heats at all while on phone calls or streaming video over the cellular network specifically? When I had the S4 it was very uncomfortable to hold up to my ear during phone calls.

I've seen some people say it gets hot like the S4, but that's simply not my experience. Everyone has a different threshold to something like that, but I can honestly say it's not something I've noticed (which if I did, would mean it's getting hot, but I don't).

I've used it in my work truck, plugged in to power, using navigation and streaming Spotify at the same time, and still didn't notice it getting overly warm. Certainly not as warm as I've felt my S4 get with less strenuous use.

Hope that helps. :D

That does. Thanks. I'm just really worried that this phone doesn't come with 64 GB of space. I have about 26 gigs of music and would like most of it to continue to be on my phone. I have T-Mobile and while their service is great at work and my house on road trips its not exactly the best.

So which is more accurate? I'm guessing the 2nd photo of each is after the upgrade and to be honest, both look pretty dreadful, for different reasons in each case.

The second and fourth are more accurate. The room was really bright so maybe that factored into the second and fourth pic being so white. I'll test out the camera more and see how it fairs.

Yeah, I would wait too, especially since the nexus is guaranteed to have an unlocked bootloader and have one of the biggest development communities.

That is true but I want it for many other reasons besides those. Screen, wireless charging, software updates, camera etc.

Just got and installed the update! I'm AMAZED AT&T for it out this fast! This is great!

When you get a chance would you please post some pics or your impression of the updated camera?

I'm amazed at the difference in the post above.

I'm torn between the X and a Nexus.

Thanks

Sure, no problem. I was planning to take some pictures today and see what we've got with this update. I'll post later on.

Any having a tough time deciding between this and the new 5s? I have both right now (moto x purchased used, iphone 5s new from apple w/ full refund to try out) and I like both a lot. so many positives for both!

Is it normal for Android phones to lose so much battery when in stand by? I have a Moto X for work use, and the battery drains like 30-40% when hardly used at the end of the day. Not many applications installed besides GroupMe and the standard social networks. Phone is usually always connected to wi-fi.. screen time is usually never more than an hour on.

wait, you have an hour of screen time and it's the end of the day and you're at 60-70% and you're upset?

Of course it's going to use that much. Mobile data, GPS, Wi-Fi, sync, brightness..all can be turned off/lowered so you can save some data.

To any Moto X owners--

Can the touchless controls being activated via Bluetooth headphones? When I previously used an iPhone, I could keep it buried in a pack while outdoors and activate it using a button on my bluetooth headphones. I miss this element of Siri and as much as I like Google Now on my HTC One, it can't do this. I've love similar (or even better) functionality but on Android.

I like the Moto X but I'm not a fan of raw android which the Moto X mostly features.

KitKat will make it more enticing based upon recent leaks. Physically I think it looks great and feels good in the hand.
