Today's update for the Moto X on T-Mobile says it "Fixed choppy audio issue during voice calls."

Also, the camera weirdness was fixed.

Anandtech claims the camera improvement is very significant. This is huge and makes the moto X in my mind very close to the s4 and HTC one. Better in many aspects actually.

I've heard software "fixing" camera issues before :) cough : HTC One...) to little avail. It'll be interesting to see if it's any different this time...

I hate all these Android phones.....I want to try them all!

I'm already out of upgrades to use....I've effectively pushed all the upgrades on both mine and my wife's family plans (save for my siblings who won't let me touch theirs) out to 2015....

And I sure as heck don't have $650 to drop on the dev edition. Oh well......

Perhaps I'll sell my GS4.....:D

UGH! lol I need the Nexus 5 to be announced/released so I can move on from the Moto X.

I assume Motorola is responsible for updating the developer edition. Does that mean nexus like updates? I'm guessing google play edition updates as far as time frames. I know there will be no carrier intervention. But they still wouldn't get the nexus update treatment. I'm wondering however if this even matters that much considering how close to stock android the software already is.

Moto X - Designed by you. Assembled in the USA.

I saw the Anandtech photo comparisons of updated vs. not updated firmware, and the difference is very striking.

If the camera is good now, there's no reason not to consider the X to be at the flagship level.

Agreed! IMO the Nexus 5 (rumored) still beats it with price, screen and software updates. But other than that it's the second best android phone for my tastes.

Broke down and ordered a Moto X. I was waiting for the nexus but my rationale is that the unique features that the Moto X brings to the table will not be on the Nexus. Active display, quick capture, touch less control, the excellent form factor, color customization etc.

Anyone have the new update with the camera improvements? How is it?

Are you going to use the Motomaker option? Definitely cool, would love to customize a phone like that.

I used moto maker and chose the olive back, black front and metallic silver accents. I think it will be pretty nice. Looking forward to the phone a lot.

You'll love it, I guarantee it. I've got the black AT&T version and its awesome. Such a perfect phone. Perfect size, good weight, and a very premium feel in the hand.

I was rooted with MotoMaker (edit...I meant PwnMyMoto. Too much Moto), but I unrooted today in preparation for the update that fixes the camera. Root is great, but the update means more. This is one of the few phones I've used where the stock ROM doesn't get in the way. It's very well done. Stock Android with just the right amount of added functionality.

I really liked this phone, though a couple things about the status bar annoyed the s*** out of me: the persistent AT&T logo in the top left (if I'm not mistaken, this is also on other OEM skins), and the gap between the WiFi icon and the cell signal icon.

Ultimately not a dealbreaker, but I honestly couldn't find anything else to complain about on the Moto X lol.

Yep, same here. That's the only two gripes i have. My old Atrix HD was the same way, with the AT&T logo in the status bar eating up room. And why do I need the AT&T logo on the lock screen TWICE? Wish Moto would learn to tell AT&T to go shove it.

No problem! It really is a wonderful phone. Coming from the Note 2 and also having the S4, I was worried about the smaller screen, but I don't even notice it. And it's so darn fast and smooth. It will take just about anything you throw at it.

It also gets better signal than my S4 (not surprising since Moto is known for their great radios) and the battery life has been stellar for me. 5 hours screen-on isn't abnormal. Especially on WiFi.

Let us know how you like it after using it for a while.

Here's my concern. The upcoming Nexus 5. Like I posted earlier, it most likely won't do the unique things that the moto x does. And it won't have the great battery life or really great form factor either. So that's why I bought it to try these out. But the nexus will have a better screen, and better camera and instant updates. Dammit lol

Edit: forgot about wireless charging. I was looking forward to that.

Wow kudos to Motorola. Got the phone 3 days early! Now to figure out how to get out of work and go home to get it.....

Yeah, there always seems to be trade offs between big phones. I'll be getting the Nexus 5 regardless of it's perceived shortcomings, as I want a phone I can flash and flash and not have to worry about bricking. I'd have gotten a Nexus 4 last year, but LTE went live here right after it was announced, so I decided to wait for this one.

Awesome! Congrats! It's an easy setup as it walks you through all the needed steps from the beginning. Let us know if you have any questions.

I think the form factor will be really good. It basically looks like a smaller nexus 4 with the nexus 7 back.

Impressions since about 4:45 PM last night.

The build quality feels great. Very solid phone. Curved design us awesome. Feels great in the hands. Only complaint here is that the buttons are too lose and rattle when the phone vibrates. Back geeks l feels good. Its smooth but not too slick.

Screen is great. Bright, plenty big and bright. However, I'm finding that ultimately that I still prefer LCD. I admit I am a huge screen snob. And i am bothered by the slightest issues. Here, it's reading text (jagged text when scrolling) on a white background and viewing in sunlight. Don't get me wrong this screen is really good.

When I opened the box battery was around 60 percent. This was 4:45. I pushed it hard to Almost 12 midnight. Lots of GPS a few photos etc. I would have charged it if I had a chance but was at a wedding. I was pleasantly surprised that it lasted those 6 hours and 40 something minutes. I predict impressive battery life for me.

Active display is great however, I find it becomes a little useless when you have multiple notifications since you can only interact with one. If you only have one or if you want to check the time then it's perfect.

Touch less control works okay for me. I ended up having to repeat the phrase multiple times. I think I'd be okay without it.

I don't have the new camera update so I won't talk about the okay to poor photos I got.

Phone back does get warm with use.

Surprisingly I don't care anymore about the color on the back. I can do without it. It looks nice though.

Almost ZERO stutter or lag!! Yes, finally. Thank you. Thank you.

Overall I really like this phone and its been the best android experience I've had on android so far even in this short time with it.

I wont be keeping it. I would recommend this phone to anyone though.

For me it's going up against the nexus 5.

If you buy a carrier version we all know updates will fall behind. We don't know how long they will take since the build is pretty much stock. Its bothering me already that I won't get kit Kat immediately. Lol

I paid $579 vs the hopefully $349-$400 that the nexus price will be.

An LCD screen. Its a personal preference and I value it even if I have to lose active notifications.

Wireless charging is something that I really want. Again. Personal preference.

Free shipping and returns I believe so that's awesome.

Okay that's plenty for now!
