Seems like The House just will not port to MA or iTunes. It's sitting in VUDU yet nowhere else. ALso, VUDU is acting weird. I redeemed a lionsgate film, Armed Response, in VUDU. It shows in purchased history yet doesn't exist in my VUDU library whatsoever.

I keep forgetting Paramount movies don’t port. I’m sitting here refreshing like a madman.

Rise should sync, mine did

Yeah sorry my mistake. Was thinking of something else.

The House is UV only.

Disconnected and reconnected my acts still no Wonder Woman, rise of the planet of the apes, baby driver or Spider-Man homecoming

I did the disconnect/reconnect thing and everything up to that point showed up in iTunes. This includes a number of disc to digital transfers I played with last night. There were 2 of note that I know are 4K in iTunes. I did the digital conversion on Hangover blu-ray to HDX and it shows in iTunes on my phone with the 4K mark. Goodfellas - also 4K available in iTunes, I did DVD upgrade to HDX on Vudu. In iTunes now it shows as HD, not 4K. On Vudu, both show as UHD, but only show me as owning the HDX.

Now on the ATV 4K, I just tried playing Hangover and when I swiped down, it showed HD. I started Wonder Woman and when I swiped down, it says 4K. So it doesn't look like I got Hangover 4K. I wish the markings of what you own were a bit more clear. I just played with a few more titles and can confirm that 4K transfers for UHD stuff I own on Vudu. Storks shows 4K and plays in 4K. I don't understand why Hangover shows 4K when I browse but not when I play. While Goodfellas, which has 4K available, doesn't show it when I select it (or obviously when I play it.)

One last thing, since turning on MA, my family sharing of movies is completely worked. When I click on library on any of my kids iPad's under the TV app, it says no purchases (unless I had formerly downloaded something to their iPad.) If I go in the iTunes store, I can go under purchases and select my name and then download movies for them. After this they show up in the TV app for viewing.

4K status doesn't show at all in iTunes. Goofy.

Edit: Looks like if you don't own the UHD in Vudu, you don't get the free 4K upgrade in iTunes. Though in some instances it will LOOK like it when you browse to it on the ATV (Hangover; Live, Die, Repeat), when you play it you only get HD.

I got home and had to use my desktop to disconnect the itunes account as it wasn't working on my phone. It took many attempts to disconnect but now I can't get it to reconnect. I get to the point where I enter my itunes password but then it says can't connect accounts.

Yeah, Apple needs to be more transparent here. Based on previous posts it does look like the following is true so far:

Advisor said that the licenses that come through programs like MA count as “second session” licenses, meaning they’re not where you first purchased them. According to the agreement Apple put in place with the studios, only iTunes-purchased movies get access to 4K streams, not second sessions.

Apple needs to change the system so is says something like: Available in 4K. You own HD.

Enough of this confusion Apple!

Well I do have some that came over from Vudu that are 4K. The free upgrade seems to not apply to second sessions.

My UHD copy of Unforgiven from Vudu shows up in iTunes as 4K in the store and iTunes library, but shows as only HD when it plays. It no longer gives me the option to purchase it in 4K.

iTunes needs to differentiate like Vudu: Available in 4K, you own HD.

I know that WB is UV only yet they are participating in Movies Anywhere though, so the title should be porting to other services.

Even within studios they can have titles that don't port.

The House is technically New Line Cinema. But again, something like The Lord of the Rings is New Line and those ported. It's up to the studios to decide I guess.

Is it actually playing for you in 4K? Some ported movies aren’t but I’m not sure if it’s just Apples halfassed rollout of 4K. For example the LEGO movie shows 4K but only plays in HD.

I know this goes without saying, but you have to have the new 4K Apple TV to get the 4K quali
Anybody know whether you can redeem UV codes directly the Movies Anywhere app ? Or do you need to do it in the Vudu app ?

You can redeem movie codes directly in MA and if you're on an Apple device, Apple should get the credit for the redemption. (Good for you, good for Apple) WIN/WIN

Yes, you need the new ATV to play any iTunes 4K.

So far it has been confirmed (including an Apple employee) that at least at this time, any HD movie to port into iTunes from another service will not play in 4K. Only direct iTunes redeems and purchases will get the 4K.

To make matters worse, with Movies Anywhere, there are now reports where someone redeemed an HD code of War for the Planet of the Apes on iTunes (so they got the free upgrade to 4K on iTunes) but the movie ported to Vudu in SD!!

Maybe (hopefully) this can change, but thus far it seems to be a restriction from the studios in regards to the deal Apple has in place.

I have movies that I redeemed in Vudu a year ago that are UHD and they play in 4K on my Apple TV from iTunes movies. I believe Wonder Woman was UV only and it plays in 4K on my Apple TV also.

Are you saying that when you swipe down while the movie is playing, the info bar says that the movie is 4K? Mine say 4K in the library, but aren’t flagged as 4K if you swipe down during playback.

SERIOUSLY! I really wanted to watch "Bram Stoker's Dracula" in 4K. I was planning on buying the iTunes 4K Digital copy sometime this month. But a friend gifted me the UV code for the movie via UV/Sony Pictures Store and when redeemed said UHD. And so I thought with Movies Anywhere, "Awesome. No more need to buy 'Dracula' 4K, I just got it for free and can watch it on my Apple TV 4K now." But nope, plays in HD (checked by swiping down on Siri remote).

BUT NOW, there is no way to buy the 4K version in iTunes store since it shows as already purchased. Very frustrating Apple. :/

Yeah my movies finally showed in iTunes but I’m not getting the 4 k version of Wonder Woman and when it eventually drops to 9.95 I won’t be able to buy it either, I think that I’m gonna have to invest in 4k player

If those movies are UHD in Vudu.....then yes, you will get 4K in iTunes (since MA imports based on Vudu).

It's the HDX versions in Vudu, where iTunes has a 4K version.....those won't get upgraded in iTunes to 4K. The title screen in iTunes will still say 4K, but when watching if you swipe down you'll see HD, and if you enable Developer on the ATV it will show they will max at 2228x928 (often less).

This also applies to things like Sony UHD redeems where they are UHD in Sony, but only HD in Vudu. Those also would only play HD in iTunes.

The only way to get 4K in iTunes is:
- UHD in Vudu via MA
- Direct code redeem in iTunes (although this may send SD to others via MA so we will have to see)
- Direct purchase in iTunes

Some people have had success redeeming a new iTunes code (even HD), directly in iTunes to get it to switch to 4K. Others have said iTunes will complain you already own it. MA will definitely not let you redeem a code again. UPDATE: others are saying if you already have a title in iTunes via MA and it's not 4K, you may be able to HIDE that movies in iTunes, and then redeem a code directly in iTunes. Then you may have to unhide. This might work for rebuying as well.....nothing guaranteed though. Worth a try if you can get a $1-$2 code.

The other option if you want to just buy it would be to go to the movie in the store and click on the arrow and select gift. Send the gift to yourself and redeem the gift. That has also been seen to work.

Look like I’m gonna save 180 bucks.

Also following this:

iTunes purchases or redeems (for movies that you do NOT own) that have 4K in iTunes and UHD in Vudu....if you purchase or redeem directly in iTunes some of those are porting to Vudu in UHD!

I just bought I am Legend in iTunes for $9.99. It's 4K in iTunes and ported to Vudu in UHD.

So it looks like the safest best is to buy/redeem UHD into VUDU. That way you have the UHD on VUDU and the 4K version on iTunes.

I tried that with Blade Runner, and it didn’t work.

I think there is something wrong with Blade Runner, because my HD copy from Vudu only made it as far as MA, but it's not available to me in iTunes. Will have to look into this.
