I actually don't like to use the phone w/o something on it. I was using a Feather and then tried a Speck Candyshell. While I had the Candyshell on, I droped it 3 times in a week from table top heights. The Candyshell is not coming off now.

BTW - if you use a Candyshell and drop the phone on a corner, that sucker will bounce pretty high!

I have a Candyshell also. It's really the best case. I'm pretty sure that if it landed on a corner on concrete it would be fine. However, it's a very thin case as well. Plus the front ridge gives some protection to the screen if it landed face down.

The screen protector that came with the Candyshell blows. I put it on supercareful and in about two days, it looked like saran wrap would look nicer on it.

My last iPhone was naked. The black case got scratched up pretty good, but I didn't care. However, the supposedly key proof glass got a few gouges on it from the keys in my pocket. Those scratches were definitely noticible and annoying when you played games or watched movies.

OMG! all this talk of nakedness..... i thought this was a family friendly site!!!

me: i'm too anal.... i've got my baby all wrapped up and protected!

First you say: "all this talk of nakedness..... i thought this was a family friendly site!!!

And then you go and talk about anal?

Mine's naked, except for the Otterbox Defender... :D

Sorry, but first, careful as I might try to be, after owning 4 iphones since launch, they do get dropped sometimes, so for me, a case is neccessary, I don't care so much about scratches, but one good drop on ceramic tile and it's all over. Plus, I have large hands, and the phone just seems too small, thin and slippery to me without a case. I agree, the phone is nice looking naked, and true, the screen is crisper and more vibrant without a protector, but I just can't see ever not having it in a case, I love my phone too much to risk its life... Also, my first case was an incase slider, and though it offers decent protection, I still got very nervous each time I handed my phone to my 5 year old son for him to play a game, in the Otterbox I honestly no longer have any fear about that, or anything really, I absolutely feel like I can throw the phone across the room if I want to with no danger, and I have to admit, I love never having to worry about the phone, it's a good feeling and i'm willing to trade the sharper screen and nice aesthetics of the naked phone, for that.

A question for the naked crowd, have you never once dropped your phone on a hard surface?

I have a Belkin leather case with a flap to cover the screen. The screen is naked, the leather case provides padding if dropped.

Well I tried Naked for a day and I couldnt even follow through with it. I just put my agent 18 back on and it feels better to me for some reason. Just knowing that it is always protected and it's not as slippery in my hand. I think I will just leave the case on from now on even though I haven't had any accidents yet with it off.

I use a Sena ultra slim case, which protects it well when not in use and allows it to be in its pure form when in use! There is no better case for the iPhone!

Well, I had the Candyshell on until I visited a business partner yesterday. He has the Sprint Hero and his partner has a Pre. With the Candyshell on, my 3GS felt like a big brick! Came home and put the Feather back on it. I want protection, but really, it is tough to take away from the aesthetics of the device by itself.

I use a white Speck Candyshell case. I've dropped the phone once, from about waist height because a jacket I bought literally had no seams in the pocket...it was just a hole.

That recent event, plus the fact that I have gorilla hands, means I will never go caseless.

All 3 of my iPhones (2g,3g,3gs) have been and remain naked. I have yet to see or find a case that isn't ugly and just adds bulk. I've dropped my 3GS once or twice in the parking lot and no issues.

Granted the new Mophie Juice Pack w/Digital TV in it.. may break me into using one at times :)

I hate cases. I buy them, use them for a few weeks, and then take them off. I used my 2G naked, had a case on my 3G, only to remove it a few weeks later, and have done the same thing with my 3GS. I had an anti-glare film on it, and I removed it today after three weeks because I couldn't take the fogginess, and I'm sure the case will come off too. IT's hard to deny it feels so much better without protection.

I switch between naked and well I guess you could say fully clothed, a lot. To be honest mostly on nights out when I'll be drinking/using my phone a lot. Those two do not go hand in hand.

I had a Griffin Clarifi for awhile, with screen protector. Then one time I pulled the case off, and when I put it back on, it lifted up the screen protector. The protector got dirty underneath, so I chucked it.

Since then, the lens on the Clarifi has become scratched to the point of being useless for its original purpose; so half the time, I don't even bother putting the case on anymore.

Has anyone else converted?

Oh yes - discovered a crack in the back case (where the charger goes in) so took it to the Apple store, thinking I would need to pay for a repair. They changed it for a new one, no question, and once I had the new one in my had - naked - and saw the clear, bright screen, I just couldn't bring myself to stick another cover on it.

Been naked for more that 3 months now....

Since the first iPhone, all my iPhones have been naked. I just always make sure to put it in my pocket with no other hard stuff (keys, coins, etc.) with it. Still no scratches on the screen. Just little imperfections around the chrome bezel.

Come to think of it, all the cell phones I ever had I never put protectors on them. I always went for the smallest ones, and I wasn't going to add heft by trying to protect it. It's just a phone. I'll end up buying another one in a year or two anyways.

My screen protector holds all my dings and dents on my screen from falling off/shifting ;o

Mine has always been naked. The glass screen hasn't scratched at all. The chrome bits look a bit scuffed after dropping it more than a few times, but it still looks good as new.

I honestly think a case is a waste of money and adds unnecessary bulk. The iPhone is easily the most durable iPhone I have had.
