I ordered an iPad 3G 64GB at 5:32am on the day the preorder went up. Apple just charged my CC for $905.39. I'm guessing that's the $829 iPad plus tax.

I just checked my order details on Apple. It still says "Late April" for my iPad and USB Power Adapter, and "By April 3RD" for my iPAD Case and iPAD Dock.

Maybe Apple is charging everyone's credits cards now? Since I was charged for a 3G iPad, I seriously doubt this means Apple will be shipping the iPads early.

Has anyone else been charged for their 3G iPad yet?

I didn't have enough in there to cover both charges, but the amount they hit me for was the wifi one plus tax. Guess i'll see if I get a hit for my 3G one tomorrow after I go to the bank with with the cash i have.

...and another!

Looks like it's a hold - available credit reduced, but nothing posted from Apple. From what I can figure, it's only for the iPad, recycle fee ($8), and tax. The case & dock weren't included. Order placed at 0537, 3/12.

So did I. Why didn't they charge amounts for accessories? My credit card can still make a payment for another 32gb iPad with wifi!!

Hmm....when I call 1-800-MY-APPLE the automated system says my Ipad 3G is ready for shipment...I couldn't get a rep to clarify though.

I ordered a 3G model, and I would like to know why my card is being charged this early... don't even know when the thing is really coming out. They did a pre-authorization right after I pre-ordered for the full amount and now they seem to be doing it again. I'm calling them.

Did anybody use the "Bill me Later" method of payment. I have been waiting for something in the mail, but nothing had been sent. Ordered on March 19.

Yeah, that doesn't make sense, UNLESS the 3g are coming out at the same time as the WI-FI versions!

Darn it. I have the money for my 3G in savings - but i have overdraft turned off. I guess I could transfer it and deposit into savings what i have in cash....

I will so NOT complain if it ships early - i have a major use for it April 10 & 11.

I had the pre-authorization charge the day before yesterday. But then it dropped off and today theres a pre-authorization charge from Apple for $1.

When did you order?

I ordered on the 12th and had a pre-auth that same day. It fell back off a few days later. Would they really do a second pre-auth?

you know, it's entirely possible that Apple ships those at the same time, but uses standard shipping. The only ones that are guaranteed delivery on 4/3 are the wi-fi versions. They could ship what 3Gs were ready to go whenever they wanted too. So we may see some people with 3Gs that same week.

That's the only thing that makes sense for charging the 3Gs

edit: or they screwed up.

I complained and Apple did a three way call to my bank to reverse the transaction....Apple guy said it wasn't suppose to charge until it shipped after they did the authorization the first time.

Long story short, my money was credited back...AND he added a free iPad case to my order! Awesome!!

which one did you buy? 3g or wi-fi

Sigh. Are you really trying to make a bunch of people call Apple and demand a free case?

Why did you complain?

Because a company charged you for a product you purchased?

Edit to Add: I ordered around 1EST on the first day. I had the $1 pre-auth for a few days, that's long gone. Still no further hits to my card.

I lost a chunk of available credit too. I pre-orderd a 32 GB WiFi on 3/15.

If it's getting ready to ship though, I think the store would be updated soon.

Could just be Apple is re-initiating the holds since it's been a couple week or so since the order was placed. Might explain the 3G activity too.

I am hold with apple now as I ordered a 3G-64GB Ipad and my card was charged today...not a problem, but I am wondering why they are charging it so early.

Anyway, the automated system stated that all products on the order are prepared for shipment. Seems odd to me unless they are shipping the 3G versions as well next week.

I will post after my call.

I ordered the 32GB iPad with wifi this Monday. I had a pre-authorization on Tuesday. Today Apple did the $1 charge. I would imagine they're just making sure the cards are active since they'll be shipping out in the next week. Best to check for problems now and get it taken care of before they ship so people can get them on time.

apple just charged my card for $747.93. i bank with regions. i'm glade i left the money in the bank today. I was about to purchase a panasonic plasma tv. hehehe. i too preorder on the 12th of march. my card was charged for the above amount on that day. it took 5 days to drop off. now im charged again for the second time.

I know from past experiences that if your order status gets to "prepared for shipping" it can sit there for several days without being shipped. So that's not necessarily and indication it's really about to ship.

True but I doubt it would be prepared for shipping for over a month. Maybe so, but I hate that they charged us so early for the product--if that was the case...
