What a sorry bunch. A Girl! On the internet?! It's more likely than you'd think.

Mine too, because I quoted you. But, maybe you should give it a rest Tymbo. It seems that this kind of behavior only makes girls less active on the internet.

The picture comments of Babs is all in good clean fun.

Honestly, I got hooked on this thread because I felt so bad for Babs when she thought her 4850 iMac came in and she went all the way down there just to find out that it wasn't. That is a total heart-breaker.

But she has it now! And we want to see some pics! (of the iMac that is)

If their like the previous generation, they don't turn down much, just go from extremely bright to very bright ;-)

Sunglasses may help.

Not correct. I just installed and am using it right now on my new iMac (see sig).

...Why? I don't mean you CAN'T use it on your built-in display, but what's the point? Unless you don't use the included keyboard I suppose... or that's too much effort and you'd rather mouse to the Shades preferences to adjust brightness that way.

I apologize. I thought you meant it was only for external/secondary displays. But there's something else you're missing. Apparently babsvii is not having this particular problem but I suggested Shades thinking this might have been the case: that the built-in controls don't make it dim enough. According to Shades's author, even, it's designed for apple's own laptop displays and iMac displays that stay really bright even at their dimmest settings, making them not ideal for night usage/low light situations which can cause eyestrain or be distracting to others. Guess what? I am now using Shades for those very reasons.

i just turned down the brightness using the suggested keys on the keyboard... it worked... it doesnt make it a whole lot darker but enough that its not killing my eyes when looking at it for long periods of time lol. im ok with how it is now!!
