Why are you always like that? Everyone who has iOS 9, has this issue because it's an issue specific to iOS 9 and not iOS 8. Whether they use their iPhone as fast as other people is up to them, but the issue is there. To YOU there's no difference in response, but that just tells me that I can't really trust you when you speak of iPhone performance. I'm so thankful you're not in charge of iOS development, because nothing would ever get fixed. You'd just say "it's good enough" or "at least it's better than *insert iOS version here*" or "it's not that big of a deal if it's a little slower than the previous version"
Because of simple reality. Because you have no proof that this applies to everyone the same way to the same degree. And when people point out that in fact it doesn't you discount it by saying that they are essentially blind or liars. To me people making absolute statements and that simply just discount anything and everything some others say those are the ones that can't really be trusted since they seem to think everything is either black or white when most of realty is much more complex and varied.

Everyone? You have absolute proof? Or is it a slight exaggeration? BTW, I'm happy with the current management at apple, glad some of us are not heading it up. :D

all I know is i have 4 devices in my house running some sort of version of iOS 9, I have one device running 8.4.1, 80% of my devices have that delay. Its an iOS 9 issue, sure everyone may not see it but everyone is wired differently upstairs.

Or maybe people are actually enjoying iOS 9 and aren't basing their entire experience on minor lag.

Just as not everyone always has the same issues and/or to the same degree.

yes I do enjoy my iOS 8.4.1 experience. a "scientific" survey on this forum, shows about 50% would rather go back to their previous iOS on iPhone 6, so yea some are enjoying iOS 9

No I'm not talking about the animation time. I'm talking about the time it takes for the phone to respond when you exit an app. This is new in iOS 9. It doesn't register a tap until the fade/spring animation is COMPLETELY done. In iOS 8 and below you can be tapping the icon MID-ANIMATION and the touch is registered and it shoots off to the next app. In iOS 9 you are left waiting and tap tap tapping away until the animation is over and then the spring/fade animation begins to open the next app. It made my iPhone 6 slower and worse. Therefore I remain on 8.4.1.

This is a known problem since iOS 7, and don't know why Apple is so slow responding!!!

iOS 6 and below didn't had that problem.

show me one with 8.4.1 having that issue, the video you posted is 2 years old and is iOS 7, heck the newest comment on that youtube video is 11 months old and it says that iOS 8 fixed that. lol

I tried recording my iphone 6 using my air 2 and guess what , it looks like heck cause I cant record at 60 fps.

why would I make crap up that 8.4.1 does not have the issue yet 4 other devices in my house running a version of iOS 9 have the issue? Trust me, I want to put 9 on my iPhone 6 when or if they fix this.

I didn't enjoy the Safari page reloads and crashes on iOS 8.4.1. iOS 9 has been great in that regard, but then again I'm not analyzing every single animation. iOS 9 is not unusable, because it isn't perfectly smooth. It's just not. It's way ahead of iOS 8 in this stage of the game, but you wouldn't know that if you read some of the lag posts here.

Love these threads because it's essentially the same group of us both staunchly believing we are right and the other guy is wrong, but still arguing like we're going to change the other guys mind. :p

I have my 4s back on ios6 and it brings me great joy. So I'm no longer worried if anyone else shares my preference. Just wish I could do the same for my ipad3! Really only apple loses. It was never a must have device for me, and now I'm for sure never buying another one.

CD M and the others...

It's an issue that affects all versions of iOS 9 and does NOT affect iOS 8.4.1 because I tried them both. It's strictly iOS 9 that makes it so that you have to wait for the animation to stop before you can tap another app.

I remember this same issue being a problem in iOS 7 or maybe early iOS 8, but Apple fixed it, only for it to be broken again in iOS 9. Seems strange that a problem that was fixed in iOS 8 is mysteriously broken again in iOS 9.

The reason why some people may not notice it, is because if you naturally wait a few seconds after quitting an app, to open a new one, you'll be fine.

Say for example there's a road with a fallen tree in it. Pretend the road is iOS 9 and the tree is this bug. Not everyone will drive down that road, so to those people, there are no trees down and they probably can't understand why some people can't drive down a simple road. However, some people like to take that road because that road was perfect before, but now they have to go the long way... meanwhile other people are saying "The long way isn't a big deal.. it's just a few extra minutes" or "then simply don't drive down that road". Those people act like working around the problem is the solution, when really, moving the tree would please everyone.

I don't think Android devices can be downgraded either. I think it sucks that we can't roll back if we aren't really a fan of the newest OS or if it makes our device slow (and forces us to upgrade to a newer phone).

its all about how profit is made, my home computer is 5 years old, running windows 10 just fine. Dell hasn't got a cent from me in years.

In all devices running iOS 9 the delay happens. It's because of the way animation works in iOS 9. That you don't use your phone as fast as other users just make the problem imperceptible to you. But it certainly exists. I don't care about it, because I'm not super fast with app switching, but I can see the delay.

Depends on the device. Nexus phones and tablets can easily be downgraded. Not the same with Samsung, Sony, LG.

Good to know... I might switch in the future

Apple has really been pissing me off lately with their lack of competence.

No, it's not "believing"

Nobody yet has proven that a previous version of iOS is faster.

Nevertheless you should take into consideration that even if you can easily downgrade on a Nexus device, Google takes a lot more time to fix bugs. Even the important ones. At least that was my experience and the reason why I went back to Apple.

And the train rolls on. But I'm bored and will bite. I don't even know how to respond to you if you think a 4s on ios9 is just as smooth and fast as ios6. I mean I can see the argument that it's old hardware on new software and it's to be expected, but to claim that it's every bit as responsive is kinda insane.

What I can do sometime is post where the 4s on ios6 is way faster at bringing up multitasking than even a 6s on ios9. I know it's not having to to generate thumbnails and all, but my point is all that crap doesn't help me, and just slows me down. Honestly I still identify apps via the icon rather than the previews, which all look the same from ios7+ white washing.

Again, I doth care about convincing you that much anyway. Why people who consider themselves as not having problems are insistent on cutting down people who are struggling is beyond me. Does it in any way affect you that others find certain things Apple does dissatisfactory?

I sincerely hope that the additional issues that you and some others seem to be experiencing are addressed in one way or another with upcoming iOS updates (hopefully sooner rather than later).

I don't even suffer from this issue at all because like most people, I wait a second before tapping another icon. I'm not so impatient that I have to hit an icon as they're fading into view. However, I can't deny that iOS 8.4 didn't have this problem and iOS 9 does.

i wouldn't call it being impatient. I close safari and have it in my head to open message app, i should be able to immediately press the messages icon and have it register the press and then proceed to open the app. I shouldn't have to wait a second. Lol. The cpu/gpu used to work faster than that in previous iOS versions, it's 2015 why did they dumb down the operating system ?
