With the mini 4 being my most used apple device, mainly due to the formfactor and light weight, I decided to upgrade.
Managed to sell my mini 4 for a very good price and got the mini 5.
Here it is with the clear case I got:

I miss the apple combo of silicone case and Smart Cover, but this clear case is good and keeps the iPad thin and light.

Cheers.

Mine is due to arrive next week. I’m looking for something super light to put on the back. I’d like to just put a thin skin, but I’m not having luck finding one.

Look at those bezels. How ridiculous!
Don’t like the bezels, don’t buy the Mini 5. Easy peasy. Not everyone feels the way you do, so why are you inserting yourself into a thread where people are happy with their new Mini 5? Spoilsport!

I’m surprised you didn’t just go to the Apple Store in Baton Rouge and grab one, but maybe you ordered from a place that doesn’t charge tax.

Decal Girl has skins (if the Mini 5 is the Mini 2019, which I think it must be) and if you sign up for their newsletter, you can get 30% off. I’ve used their skins on my iPP 11 and keyboard folio and my Surface Go.

I don't really go for TPU only cases, as I like to know the front is covered. I went with the Zugu case and it is still thin.

I needed a cellular version and it’s just hard to top $18/month from AT&T.

I’ll definitely check out the skins!

Does the 2 GB of ram hurt it any ?

Nice! I just picked one up yesterday, too! The pink is very cute but I went with the space grey because I like how it looks when off... paired with dark mode it feels really futuristic across a lot of apps. Enjoy! :)

Congratulation! I was planning to get one to upgrade from my previous iPad mini 2 128Gb LTE. Then I was given a mini 4 64 LTE. So, still rocking my mini 4.

Enjoy!
I hope for a mini Pro with Pro design language, using Apple Pencil 2!

Just picked up this Bluetooth keyboard a few days ago. Handy as all get out for texting, e-mailing, ect.
Rather thick though(was using a Spigen thin case with a plastic back and leather cover).

Enjoy your new Mini!

Is there much diff from a mini 4? i can get a as new condition 4 32gb 4g here for $320AUD or the 5 64gb 4g is $799 new, is there $480 difference? Mainly want for ebooks at home, and bigger screen than my iPhone 11 pro for photos for my business when out quoting, have a iPad pro 11" too.

Nice congrats. I've been enjoying the Mini for a few months now as well. if you want a decent smart cover/case (non silicone) you might try one of these. I bought one for my father's iPad air and it has held up very well, then added one for the Mini.

Consider this keyboard. It is very thin and the battery last a long time. Very good keyboard.

At the moment, the Mini 4 should be just fine, but there’s a high likelihood that iPadOS 14 won’t support the Mini 4. If you want to future proof your purchase, I’d recommend the Mini 5.

That is, unless you don’t mind iPadOS 13 being the last OS your iPad gets. Just my two cents.

Plus you get a True Tone display with P3 wide color, an extra GB of RAM, a vastly improved front facing camera and a processor that is four years newer. It’s a great upgrade from the Mini 4, but that does sound like a large price gap. Choose the iPad that’s right for you, of course.

Thanks for the info. Looks like a nice keyboard but what I have now the ipad "snaps" into the top part so it's all in one style. I just fold it closed to turn off the ipad.

The mini4 runs the A8 processor whereas the mini 5 runs the A12 Bionic. Sold my Air2 + Mini4 to offset the cost of my mini5. And the mini5 is one fast puppy. 32gb(mini4) is really not that much memory these days, so factor that in as well. I paid $529(+8.5% tax) US for a 64GB LTE version. I'll be keeping this mini5 until it dies(like 5 years or more) :)

I don't really go for TPU only cases, as I like to know the front is covered. I went with the Zugu case and it is still thin.

I also installed a Tempered glass screen protector.
For my usage, I find the combo of a you case and screen protector to be the best as it keeps the tablet light and thin and also provides enough protection.

There is yes.
I though the mini 4 was fine, but every time I picked up my xs Max I realized just how slow the mini 4 was by comparison.
Just the simple rendering of web pages in safari was slow on the mini 4.
Now with the 5, the update is just as wicked fast as my iPhone.
