This is more about testing MyWi, rather than with an iPad:

I connected my iPhone's 3G connection to my Xbox 360, which took about 10MB. Then, I started streaming an episode of The Office through Netflix's Watch Instantly app. It wasn't HD, but it looked surprisingly good and ran without any pauses for the four minutes that I used it to test MyWi. Those four minutes took 70MB, but it shows how capable 3G can be.

No, it's not. I've been running both Rock and Cydia for over a year. No issues at all.

1. JB iPhone.
2. Install MyWi on iPhone.
3. Start MyWi on iPhone which, essentially, turns your iPhone into a wireless access point.
4. Connect your iPad to the MyWi access point.
5. Your iPad now has access to the Internet.

MyWi has other options, e.g., USB and bluetooth tethering, as well as adding security to the connection, but it's best to get the basics working first.

There's no need to JB the iPad to do this.

If you need help JBing your iPhone, visit the iPhone Hacks forum on this site or visit the Rock Your Phone web site.

Where is mywi located once you download and pay for the program??

After I saw people tearing through their 250mb limit on the $15 ATT plan in 2 days, it made me that much happier in my decision to go WiFi iPad + MyWi. I don't need it often, but it's so nice when I have 20 minutes to kill in a spot with no wifi or when I'm having lunch on a weekday. I always carry a cord + power brick with me for the phone, so...

Just curious what kind of phone you are using? I am new to this and learning.

It appears as a regular app. Then, when it's running, it'll let you know in the bar at the top of the screen.

Ok, got it states ready to synch but how do I get the synch application over to the ipad?
The program is named getwifisynch.com???
Thanks

im a lil confused about like tethering.
i know you can do it through your iPhone, but does it run up your AT&T bill, or included in data package?

Since it isn't official and AT&T doesn't know that you're using the data for tethering, there are no extra fees. Just don't try going through 500MB in an hour or two, that could lead to problems.

So Mywi is the only program that tethers to the ipad? If I get the Iphone 4 and Ipad, the new iphone would lose the ability to tether with the ipad, correct? My best bet is to not upgrade to the latest iphone until Mywi works?

You dont have to get rid of your old iPhone. You can simply switch sim cards between it and your new iPhone 4. Not the most elegant way, but it works.

Not quite that easy. The new iPhone 4 uses micro sims but the 3G or 3GS doesn't. You can use a iPhone 3GS sim card with a cutout for the microsim and it will still work but it isn't as easy as just swapping sims.

You can see what I mean if you search the forums for people using the iPhone sim card in the iPad. They have pics and how to guides.

I was simply saying it's possible...my fault for not giving further details. Thanks for pointing it out. :)
