I have had my X for over 2 weeks now and I do have a clear case that I have been using before I decide what I want to do. A part of me wants to use the phone without a case because it is too stunning to throwing on something that covers up the shiny edges/back of the device, but on the other hand I don’t have Apple Care and will probably want to resell it in the future. Apple has luckily lowered the price of screen replacements to $279 (without Apple Care) from the original $579 which I can live with. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still expensive, but $279 isn't flat out stupid.
For those of you that have been using the X without a case, how has it been so far? Are there extensive scratches/noticeable dents already?

Thank You!

I had a very thin case zero drop protection on the front screen plus a screen protector. Already dropped it screen cracked. Had to shell out the 280.

But yeah now I have an otter box symmetry. I love having no case but I can’t afford it haha.

What?
The screen for the iphone x was always $279 since they announced it.
You think you're getting a great deal for that amount? :D

^^^plenty of threads here referencing screen replacement over $500 never heard the $279. That’s good news for us that have not purchased Apple care for over 13 phones.( 5 on the account)

Hmmm…I'm going on 2 years and two months with my iPhone 6s+ which has never had a case. Bought without AC+ and in the same physical condition as when I bought it.

It's possible if you really want to do it.

It just requires the kind of attention that isn't demanded of you when using a case. Most people don't want to get that involved in paying attention to where their phone is all the time so they put it in a case.

You are VERY brave for wanting to use the iPhone X without a case! I totally get the idea of wanting to be able to admire the gorgeous design of the phone (I think my 8 Plus is gorgeous, lol) but I'd be absolutely devastated if I dropped it and damaged it. So I keep a case on it at all times.

The $579 price is for repairing the BACK glass if it breaks, not the front screen. It's so glued on there (and the camera housing welded in top if it) they they basically need to give you a new phone if you want to replace the back glass.

I’ve had mine naked for 2 weeks, no scratches or dings at all. The phone shape and form are too distorted in a case, but I also have Apple care +. The repair price jumps to $579 if it falls on its back instead of its front, so you might take a second look at AC+

Lol, I have an Anker back glass protector on and a front iCarez display protector on and on top of all that is an Otterbox Defender. It’s definitely overkill but the first fifteen minutes I had the phone I nearly dropped it four times because it is so slippery! I thought glass would be more grippy than aluminum.

I do take it out of the OtterBox when I am lying in my nice soft bed and want to read on it or charge it on the charging puck. If I drop it in my bedroom it will be only a two and a half foot drop onto soft carpet with a thick pad. Plus I have all that extra glass on it.

I can’t imagine using this phone without a case at any other time because the back camera lens is on that damned protrusion. The lenses would get beat all to hell if I didn’t have that part protected in a case. As pretty as this phone is, it looks like it was designed to look just as beautiful in a lovely case.

No case here for 2 weeks. I do have an icarez screen protector and it saved me already: dropped the phone while playing with it during a hike. Screen protector cracked in the corner, but the x was fine. Still going without a case...

I just can't justify the use for a screen protector, I don't like them and I have never used them without issue with any of my iPhones. It's just a risk I'm willing to take to use the iPhone exactly as it is out of the box.

Already used one of my AC+ replacements :( but I'm still rocking the device naked. I do have the Apple silicone case for it - which I use whenever I go somewhere that others may ask to see the phone otherwise :) (typically around family) It has the deterrent effect that no-one would suspect it's an X in that case, so they don't ask to see it. :D

As for the camera bump - I have a whole package of polishing cloths for my BMW that I never used (microfibre cloths)...so I have one folded in four on the coffee table - the X sits on that face down when it's not juicing up on the wireless charger.

Not a mark (in the two weeks since replaced).

I eagerly anticipate the clear Loopy case for X in 2018!
meanwhile, clear Luvvitt case offers just enuf slip resistance to have not dropped since launch day.
I did purchase AC+ as this offers support benefits beyond repair and I have dropped iPs in past—the two alum pluses the worst screen scratches but the 3Gs in Otterbox won the prize for greatest heights unscathed. Had the worst habit of keeping it in lap in truck, always tumbled to pavement upon exit. damn gravity.
The X gets returned to its special purse pocket after every use :p

I used to be the same way but all those micro scratches that start to build up annoy me and with a screen protector I can just wipe the screen clean with my jeans no risk to the screen. Plus I don’t mind other people touching the phone. Don’t want their oily fingers all over my naked screen! Lol.

My pet peeve with screen protectors was dust or lint under the screen would drive me crazy and I just end up throwing the SP away. But now I have it down so no dust gets underneath. And before you know it you can’t even tell it’s there.

It’s atvleast got more grip than the 7 plus but still too risky

Certainly when I’m on an annual upgrade

I was going to let this go (I hate cases) but I can't ignore the last few words. ;)

Sorry, but…Otterbox Defender ≠ lovely case.

Why not just get Applecare though? For all intents and purposes it's your premium case option. No case, but drop protection.

I hate clear cases because they make the phone look like it has water inside of it because of the air/stickiness.

I got a full screen protector that goes all around the front screen so you can’t see it at all. I currently use a very thin case with cutouts around the buttons, thank God. But I’m looking for a case that wraps around the camera because most of them leave space for dust to collect around it.

I keep an air duster handy. I am probably using it 4-6 times a day blowing dust out of all the crevices. Having a case/screen protector creates a lot.

Naked and no AC. First time i don’t use a case because i feel like it takes away from the screen. I dropped it and got a ding on a corner, fell from the top of the fridge and another ding. Then i got a nasty deep scratch, I guess it was from my keys. Then a light scratch from throwing my metal apple tv remote on the bed well my iphone X.
I want to try a screen protector but the ones that cover everything including the bezel.

You shouldn’t let other people use your phone. Everyone has their own smartphone now.
[doublepost=1512270056][/doublepost]I have used the leather case from Apple for several generations of iPhones since the 5s. Elegant and low profile with good protection and feels good in hands.

I have never used any screen protectors. Never scratched any screen over so many years. I don’t want anything to obstruct the beautiful screen.
