For those in the market for a nano-texture MBP and looking for a deal, the refurb store has a few in stock:

~15% off retail and pretty much the only “deal” in town for nano-texture MBPs as far as I am aware.

I recently saw another nano screen at the Apple Store and fell in love with it. I now have so much remorse for buying two studio displays without nano texture. I really am thinking of trying to sell them (I have the boxes and everything still). My main impetus is that the nano texture is easier on the eyes. That was the factor I didnt consider at first.

@anthony13 did you see the nano version of the ASD? I thought it was pretty disappointing compared to the MBP version
Oh thanks, no I didnt, I saw the new MacBook Pro nano screen. Good to know, maybe I'll try and track down a nano studio display to see in person. I will say even though I like the nano Mac book pro screen, I can definitely see like a multi colored fuzz around everything. Some have told me they dont see it, but everyone is different.

How's the text clarity. This is the key issue for me. This image is from an iMac at least years ago. Is it still that bad?View attachment 2481475
For my eyes personally it looks very sharp to my eye. I'm obviously not trying to pixel peep just looking at roughly 60-80cm from screen or arms length. I'd say glossy is worth it if you want crisp text;

the nano texture is very pleasing to me and I don't regret the purchase. Especially since I've been with matte displays for so long. (decades) I've gotten used to it

the iPad Pro wasn't really the best nano texture display from what I seen so I opted for glossy on that one instead to showcase true tandem old crispy, smudges were a non issue personally I am not super OCD when it comes to screen squeakiness.

when the mBp screen is off/dark, I can see a very slight purple tinge to the whole screen lol that throws me off but as soon as I turn it on at 30-40% brightness I don't really notice it.

yes I did too. sent back my nano ASD as text and lines [for CAD] were not crisp enough and have no regrets getting the non textured ASD.
the laptops do look a lot better though. Maybe Apple will do an upgrade on the process for the ASD?

@richinaus the current glossy ASD has the best anti-reflective coating I've ever seen, it's notably more effective than the MacBooks.

I imagine apple will use the new nano process whenever they finally update the ASD

yes thats why I have 2 x ASD's and I never tire of the quality of the screens.

I will most likely get a nano MBP when I update next as I dont use the display for too much 'serious' work and the nano will help in multiple environments. It is unlikely I will ever get nano on the ASD though.

I finally took a moment to take a look at a MBP at the Apple Store with a nano-texture display. I looked at it side by side with an identical non-nano display, opened up Photos and put the same image on both and turned the brightness up. This was a very casual comparison, but the nano looked great to my eyes, and did an awesome job scattering the reflections of lights in the store.

I probably wouldn't bother getting it on a display on a desk where I'm not getting bombarded with reflections, but I very much hope the M4 Air launches with nano-texture as an option, because my laptop use often ends up in distracting light conditions.

Nano texture owners, how are your displays a few months in? Still pristine? I'm very interested but I'm just worried about the durability long term

I did the very same thing, before ordering my M4 Max with the nano screen. I did a side-by-side in the store, while running content from my own website I created. The nano screen didn't lose a single detail, when compared with the glossy screen. I also agree, that for a large desktop display, it's not as critical to me. In fact, I'm likely going to order another XDR, and I'll get the glossy finish, just as before.

First of all, report after using the screen for several months...absolutely love it. Everytime I see my wife's MBA with the glossy screen I am so glad I got nano texture.

How are you folks cleaning stubborn stains? I hear 70% iso using the apple cloth should do the trick?

i just use apple cloth and my camera lens microfibre cloth to wipe lightly... rarely will touch the screen, if anything at most is just the notch area since the lift up is there but thats it. i think i wiped it once since receiving it and it was just a month after when i can see it.

no use 70% isopro

Unfourntely I have some stubborn stains that won't come off with just the micro fiber cloth.

Spray the cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol, works for me.
Yeah I have a lens cloth which my camera store gifted me... I use that occasionally but I'm very baby/careful with my MacBook Pro. The occasional smudge here and there won't kill me.

What will kill me is the finger smudges on space black [hence why I got silver] and the scraping of ports due to misplacement. [sometimes]

I restored my TM backup around 11am, I been using it all day already also the battery is 57% so not bad at all.I may need to buy this. I don't miss the 16 now because of it's weight, always kept it at home, imo its too heavy to keep on the lap.
Did you buy the soft edge? It looks like a great idea.
