what was wrong with iPad? never seen iPad with Nano personally, but as it gets dirt quickly even on my iMac, I dont know how bad it may work on touch screen

Outside, the nano shinned. Zero gloss, zeo reflections, zero nothing. It was amazing. The negative was when editing and applying color grading. Either on video photo. Obviously both products use different display tech, [one being Tandem OLED with the other Mini-LED] however the vibrancy of color was vastly different.

if you rely on accurate color and need to see difference between the original and the edit, standard display 100%. Especially if your editing LOG image and need to see each specific color-hue comparisons.

if your really OCD and picky, then standard. If you can deal with the nano-texture and finalize the photo edits on a monitor, then stick with the nano. It's very good, but for some professions it comes with compromises.

Nano Texture looks amazing!

O'course they do. But this pics show nothing, better see on hands from Verge or some other media
These are all from hands on reviews. Also I see The Verge recommended the nano texture too:

"The convenience of the nano-texture far outweighs any slight technical advantage of a glossy display. And at $150, it’s a worthwhile upgrade for visual pros."

it's pretty interesting about this new nano display. Listen to how popular it is. Makes you wonder why it wasn't offered before, and whytf Apple makes you pay a huge premium with the iPad.

I'm thinking if it's a success the iPads will get the $150 (or less) option.

note: and that picture above my post? Which one would you choose? :D

I guess it's because, when making a video showing what's new with the new MBPs, what else can they easily demonstrate?

I have a glossy screen MBA and - almost subconsciously - I angle the display to remove any glare from lights behind me.

I do like the idea of a matt screen, but will wait until I can see both side-by-side in an Apple store and judge the differences for myself. $150 is still $150.

I'm mostly concerned about the durability of the nano-texture, as a laptop screen is more prone to contact and needs cleaning more often than a desktop in my experience.

If the contrast in darker rooms is pretty close to the glossy version, it might be a good trade off.

It's on iPads, with no complaints, as far as I can tell. I have it on my iPad and there's no issue. It's safe.

Btw, what are your delivery dates for the nano models? There isn't a day-1 option for these, which may change in the future, hopefully.

M3 vs matte M4 is not quite a fair comparison as the M4 screen is noticeably brighter.

Same here, I have it on my iPad Pro and have had no issues.

pushes back the order to November 19-21
Its only brighter in extreme conditions (there's no manual control to push it past 600 nits, it will only do so when needed, as per the reviews).

My nano texture 14” order was originally 19-21 but it just updated to 18-20, as another data point.

for the nano-lovers, do you use dark mode? I live in dark mode
I use dark mode on my M4 iPad Pro, and love it. At first I had to get adjusted to the fact that the black levels weren’t quite as dark as on a glossy display but I love it now. I use dark mode on Mac as well so looking forward to the nano-texture option.

+1 for this, Dave2D’s review shows that the M4 only gets brighter under bright light (his demonstration was holding the flashlight up to the MacBook’s light sensor). Otherwise, it should be roughly the same brightness.

Cinema screens and print aren't glossy. That's why glass displays have mostly been shunned by colourists and pro/ref monitors. If your target is social media images on a consumer device with glass display that's another thing.

1000 nits + nano might be pretty sick for outdoor use. Indoors, I usually find it pretty easy to manage the glossy.

I have a glossy studio display, and the anti-reflective coating is the best I've ever seen. Noticeably better than the MBP (lol why, Apple?)

I assume that reply was for me, I'm referring to the reviews where the M3 and M4 matte were side-by-side, the M4 was clearly brighter in many scenes.

Does anyone know if they will have a stockable nano texture in store tomorrow?

Is the nano display the same as the studio display?
For me it made all the text a little fuzzy so sent it back and much happier with a standard display on the studio monitor [I was using CAD a lot at the time too and line quality was diminished]
Although I will say it does make more sense on a laptop given different working conditions.

I am using the new MBP M4 with nano texture right now...guys, this looks amazing. No reflections indoors AT ALL, compared to having to constantly shift the angle of my previous MacBooks depending on where I worked.
Is it fuzzy? Mmm I would just call it a little soft but in a kind of antialiasing way and not a defocus or blurry way.

My only concern is that at some point I would like to color grade here but I also have a separate OLED TV for that so I think it should be fine.
