Has anyone here had problems with quicktime not being able to play the .m4v files after running the .mkv through handbrake? It has happened to a couple of my Blu-Rays .m4v after Handbrake said the re encoding was successful.

Yes I am having the same problem. I ripped my Prince of Persia Blu-ray with makemkv and then used HB to encode it to m4v. Used the High Profile preset and changed the resolution to 1280x720 as suggested in this forum. The resulting m4v is unplayable. This really sucks.

I had this, make sure you select 'Large File Size'. It should encode those files fine after that.

Seriously? Cant you read?

Any bluray drive will work in a Mac. You CANNOT watch bluray movies on a mac from the disk, you will have to rip it using one of the dozens of methods outlined in this thread.

are we still limited to BD burners or are read-only drives working now too? thanks

Im having the same issues. Ive ripped Adventureland and Open Season 2 over the weekend, neither of which would load into HB. Kept telling me No Valid Source Found.

Im wondering if buying the app will somehow correct this.

Run the mkv through TSMuxer to make a .m2ts file of roughtly the same size. Handbrake will be able to read this ok! :)

Having trouble converting .mkv in Handbrake. It keeps getting stuck @ 0.49%. I am trying to compress it and change the format so I can dump it on my PS3. Any help would be much appreciated. Screenshot below...

The problem could be that you are ripping with pgs subtitles. Handbrake does not play well with mkv files created using MakeMKV if they containt PGS subtitles.

alright so i was going thru this thread, and i only see makemkv as the one program to rip blurays to mkv format...is there another program that does this as easily?

On a Mac MakeMKV is pretty much all there is, on PC you could use AnyDVD but MakeMKV is still easier. Is there any reason you want another program? Don't you like MakeMKV:D

i just want to know my options. so is it safe to purchase after my 30day evaluation? i mean i dont wanna buy something that will just stop working on my bluray titles.

On the makemkv.com website it says there is support in their forum for plist mod, but there is only one post and it doest say anything about it.

Also, I ripped a couple of dvds since my BR drive isnt recognized, It ripped a dvd into a mkv with no problems, quality seems the same as well as audio. I then played it in plex and had no problems, my only question is how do u modify the metadata on an mkv file. How can I add cover art in plex? Thanks

I don't know what's wrong with your drive but I use an lg 10x blu ray writer/reader and my is recognized. I've successfully rip avatar blu ray with no quality loss, the only disappointment with makemkv is that it can't copy blu ray subs. When I use tsmuxer on Mac to mux avatar and would find a bdmv folder with m2ts in it, I then test it out and find that there is no sub at all other than that the rip is 1:1 :D. Recently playing around on google I happened to stumble on this awesome program for Mac called DUMPHD. I test it out by ripping some of my block buster 3D blu ray and it did a fabulous job. I've found myself a anydvd hd for Mac, you should give it a try it's freeware DumpHD.

Are there any drives that work better then others or is just pretty much choose the cheapest BD reader and go from there?
