While out late this afternoon I decided to test things out a bit more so had the GPS navigating the route even though I knew exactly where I was going. I had Navigon running with music playing through the iPod at the same time when my wife called. I just touched the button on my bluetooth headset, answered the call, tapped the button again when the call was over and the music & navigation automatically picked up right where they left off. A bit later I made a call by tapping the bluetooth headset button, saying the name of the person I wanted to call, and again, everything resumed automatically when the call was over. No distractions from driving, just a touch of a button next to my ear was all that was needed. This is EXACTLY what I was shooting for and now it's a reality. Great stuff!

Seamless. Nice. Glad to hear that's worked out.

Screen dimming is fixed too, I no longer have my screen dim when I use it with my belkin adapter!

Yeah, it appears they finally had the brilliant idea to not just set no power save at launch but also every 30 seconds. I had it go dim but brightened back up after 30 seconds.

I was relieaved to see this instead of the FAQ do the blame game as it was.

A bit off-topic, but could you specify which bluetooth headset you're using?

It's an ancient, cheap Motorola H500. I think you can get them for around $15 on Amazon now but I wouldn't recommend it. There are much better options today but it's met the need for me (if only just) and I just haven't replaced it.

Awesome update, however there's a few things that annoy me about the TTS. It can get very repetitive at times. For example the lady will say In 400 yards make a right turn onto main street, and when its time to turn it will say Please turn right on Main street. Sometimes it will do this more than just 2 times. I hope they fix this and make it say it like in 400 yards please turn right on to main street, and then when the time comes, just say "turn right" no need to repeat the whole street name again. That is driving me nuts!!!

I think what you are missing is GPS navigation is for going to an unfamiliar area/road. You need it to tell you so you don't turn at the wrong road near the one you want because you have never been there before. When going into an unknown, new and confusing road situation you can never have TMI.

Especially while vacationing in L.A., those highways are ridiculous....errr they call them freeways there.

I had this same one for awhile it was free with a phone. I just bought a jawbone prime well worth the money!

Anyone else have problems with music skipping while using Navigon? It seems like every so often, especially when a new announcement is coming, my music will start to skip. One time I was just trying to open the app and look for a contact to navigate to that address, and my entire iPhone just started to lag like crazy and crashed the OS, even after I had closed Navigon.

Never happened on my 3GS.

I have a 3G 16GB, and yes, I have the same issues. Also, sometimes the voice and street names will get chopped up.

The fix for me has been to restart the iphone. Although it is annoying and time consuming, it works and resets RAM (which I assume is where the problem lies), and not worrying about it too much as next summer when the iPhone gets another upgrade I'll be eligible for it.

Ok, just making sure it wasn't just me. I still have one of those apps that frees memory, so I'll just have to start running that before opening Navigon. And yeah, I can't wait till I can upgrade next year too!

You're right. It is an awesome update, but does announce the street one too many times.

I turned off the TTS simply because I missed the old voice. The older voice is much clearer IMO, but iPod integration is great! I am glad that they have this option available for you.

Hooray navigon 1.2!

Uh oh...

I've noticed this: when going to a location, navigon announces that I'm nearing my destination which is great... BUT... unlike 1.1, the update now tells me AFTER I've passed the destination! I've done a network settings reset so far but not a full restore. I'm getting a gps fix inside of my house and everything else is spot on, it's just odd and messed up that the 1.1 version would announce about 300-500 feet prior to my arriving to my destination that it was approaching and what side of the street. I get this with 1.2 but it's always about 200 feet after I've passed it which kinda sucks. Anybody else noticing this?

I mean, if you're that close wouldn't you realize you've made it? It's like a book saying THE END. How useful is it really?

That said, I haven't noticed it.

With the TTS voice on, yes, I have noticed this too. With the TTS off, it worked correctly with ample notice like in 1.1 (at least in one test I did).

Thanks for the added confirmation... I turned TTS off and got the "normal" advanced notice of destination location. I hope Navigon tweaks this in their next software update.
