Yes.

"We've submitted update 1.2 North America to Apple, and it will be available as soon as they approve it."

So... when I download the app update will it be another 1.3gb? :\
Actually, it will.
Sad but true. Apple really has to implement the updates differently.
So, the update will be a new 1+ GB download... but will replace the existing Navigon app? I may have misunderstood earlier and thought the update itself would add 1+ GB to the app already on the iPhone.
You will need to have enough free space to install the new version prior to the old version being removed. In fact they recommend you have DOUBLE the free space that the application needs after install is completed.
Alternatively you can remove the app first, then install the new version.
Anyone have any idea how long it takes for Apple to approve an update after it's been submitted?
Just for the record, the current Navigon app does have limited TTS.
It will speak the names of highways. For example: "Bear right onto I-271N" is actually spoken.
Of course as soon as you get off the interstates you just get "turn right in .5 miles".
I noticed on their website it says that TMC (ie traffic) will be coming later this summer...
This summer is getting pretty late, yet I haven't seen any reference to TMC in the 1.2 update - Have i missed something, or have they delayed/cancelled plans for TMC integration?
Technically the have until September 22nd to submit the app and still meet their "deadline" for late summer. Since they submitted 1.2 to Apple last week, that gives them four weeks to get TMC in there. In that same time period between 1.1 to 1.2 they managed to add TTS and an in-app iPod interface, so I'm confident Navigon will meet their goal. They've been upfront and accurate with their plans so far.
I'm looking under Options right now and don't see it anywhere. Is it located somewhere else? Can you look on your iPhone and tell me where this option is enabled. I have an App called iTrail that doesn't allow the screen to sleep so I know my iPhone can do it.Yeah, definitely something not right with your install or something. This app prevents (so long as you set it within the options) the display from sleeping. It's on by default. Maybe you changed it by accident when you first got the app?
If I had to change that option from the phone itself every time I used the app I would go insane!
