I just thought of a sweet idea. Navigon, while riding a bicycle. Just start some music, launch navigon, plug in your headphones, choose a destination, lock the screen, and pop your phone in your pocket! You can follow the voice directions while riding your bike! It'll still suck battery, but it would be pretty cool (now I want to try it out...).

lol ya... thats really safe!

That is very exciting! I finally made the decision to purchase Navigon software instead of TomTom and am very much looking forward to all the company will have to offer.

I, also, just purchased Navigon. The install went smoothly and the program runs great. Initially I was put off by the price until I saw other GPS apps and, after reading many reviews, determined it was worth the asking price. Just made it before the price increase deadline :D

So today is the last day of the $69.99 sale?? I personally think navigon will just keep the price where it is to compete with Tom-Tom.

Possibly, my thought is that they timed the 1.2 release to come out after the price increase so now they are priced the same as TomTom and have some substantial functionality benefits over them for the same price. With this they have established a strong value proposition over TomTom. I wouldn't be surprised to see 1.2 available tomorrow. :)

Good seeing. :) I'd go with your theory.

I agree with your thinking. Navigon should keep the price lower than TomTom. They should continue to add more features to keep the app compelling while continuing to create a clear value proposition.

Navigon can see that Tom Tom is selling fairly well at $99 so it wouldn't surprise me to see them try that price for at least a while and try to sell quite a few licenses due to the extra features they currently have over Tom Tom.

If Tom Tom comes out with TTS, iPod management, etc, then maybe Navigon will drop the price again.

Personally I'm just hoping we see a traffic application from one of these two before year's end.

Agreed, traffic would be nice but the big item for me is TTS. Here in Chicago streets can be close together so having TTS is really nice.

Purchased

Don't know if I made the right decision or not, but I purchased the Navigon application for $70. I am going to purchase some kind of a generic type holder (so I can use the iPhone while still in the case) tomorrow.

I hope the turn by turn speech function shows up soon.

(I purchased the app so I would have navigation when I am required to take rental cars for my job, it is an extra expense they won't cover, and I carry so much stuff that not carrying a stand alone GPS is the way to go.)

Says on their facebook page that TMC and full 7 digit uk postcodes are coming in update after 1.2. They also state they are working on a Car kit but don't give details

nothing for british isles other than a price drop from £52.99 to £37.99 for september (after I just bought the damn thing at full price Gah!!!)

Okay, well now looking at it in the App Store section on iTunes, they took off the "Price valid until August 31st" and the price is still listed at $69.99. Maybe they are keeping it that way to stay competitive with TomTom? That or they're in the process of changing it? :)
