Based on past Netflix threads, I'm thinking every outraged Apple person has quit Netflix 6 or 7 times in the last 12-18 months or so... so I presume this affects no one. ;)

However, that said, can you blame them? Pay direct and keep 15%. Facilitate another kind of payment and lose 15% "right off the top." If roles were reversed, what would Apple Inc. do?
Indeed, after reading the posts on MR one would think Netflix is a horrible service, yet we all know that it is way ahead of all other pure play streaming services in terms of subscriber numbers. Amazon Prime might be close but it is part of a service bundle.

Ok then. I won't certainly pay 100 euros or something for the last season.
And they don't have enough value to fill 6 months of viewing.
To be honest it’s a worry if they start to tie us into contracts like we have with cable/tv companies.

Let’s hope that never happens.. I suppose for everyone who cancels after a month there’s probably another 10 who forget to do so.

exactly.. however this WILL affect Apples bottom line as I suspect a fair few subscribe through Apple, so Apple is about to lose that 15% or 30% it’s been taking. Good move, play Apple at their own game if you don’t want to give them money anymore.

Three I would always keep, Netflix, Now TV, Amazon, because I watch them often, plus free channels too I can get like Channel Five and 4 on catchup in the UK.
I would also pay Apple to binge watch stuff like Slow Horses as it’s excellent.

Cancelled Netflix 6 months ago and haven’t looked back. Their refusal to work with the Apple ecosystem such as AppleTv app integration or Vision Pro app and now this, has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Not to mention their content is subpar now and their price increases were not justifiable.
You base your subscription choices off of whether or not they have Apple ecosystem integration lollllllll

In US, I keep these subscriptions: Netflix, Amazon, Disney and Max (HBO). I am thinking about flipping Disney and Max with Paramount+ and Hulu from time to time.

1000's of movies/shows no one watches. Canceled and haven't looked back, heck I almost can't remember they even exist.

Add this to the growing list of customer unfriendly actions in the works everywhere. When regulators open up NFC the Wallet app will become useless. Every credit card company and every bank will pull out of the Wallet and require its own app to make a payment. Want to pay with your Chase Visa credit card?. You’ll need to use Chase’s app. Want to pay with your bank debit card? You’ll need to use your bank’s app. Want pay with your GM Mastercard? Pay with the GM Mastercard app. The era of one Wallet to keep all your cards in is coming an end. Just like Netflix is doing other streaming platforms will require you visit their website to pay. All this to keep as much profit in their own hands as possible.
This just seems alarmist and frankly a bit silly. Companies are entitled to pursue profits as they see fit, but a the same time, you seem to be willfully ignoring the amount of clout that apple has. A great example of this is exactly the reason why Goldman Sachs wants out of the apple card, apple has them by the balls to such an extent that Goldman Sachs is the least profitable consumer credit card lender on the market.

no surprise. Apple hardcore shouts out saying “bad to not keep existing inapp purchases active”, considering the removal of subscribing from app happened 6 years ago.

Netflix probably did some math and found it is acceptable to lose those few holdouts compare to donating 15% of that part of revenue to Apple every month. I see it as numbers not adding up on Netflix side.

Feel free to cancel all of your subscriptions, thinking company not taking your hard earned cash is a bad choice. Netflix is still big enough to not care much about these Apple holdouts quitting I’d argue.
