It's on charge with the original charger...My crackling and popping sound is every time I play any audio. Way more than 1 or 2 times a day, more like 1000 times now...It got worse.Do your experience this while on battery, Apple Charger + Magsafe or other USB-C Charger? I have used the original charger the last few days and had the popping maybe 1-2 times a day. Now connected to the external Monitor via USB-C the popping is much louder and several times per hour. Just while browsing. Coincidence?
Do you have any recourse with your country's consumer laws. In the UK, provided you documented the issue with Apple before 6 months from receipt, you are entitled to at least one repair or a replacement. And if you bought it on a Credit Card you will have additional rights of redress. Why not channel that anger and motivate a resolution you prefer... I know if it was me, I would go in guns blazing!I am fed up of this...had a chat with support and it was absolutely useless...how can they expect you to spend over $4k for a laptop that you can't even use to watch netflix, youtube, listen to music...it pisses me off now to the core, to the point I need to start looking for some other company that doesn't sell inferior quality products for exorbitant prices and then doesn't do anything to solve the problem for over 7 months or so in my case...I can't even walk into an apple store because I live in a developing country that only has resellers and I wouldn't trust them to open up my computer...sorry for venting just I've had it now
I live in a place where laws are constantly broken, nobody is accountable hence developingDo you have any recourse with your country's consumer laws. This is potentially great news but it's important to know whether this continues onward after you've had the beta installed for some time and isn't something you just experienced immediately after the installation of the beta. A new installation restarts the machine and that has been known to take away the issue for a bit but then it slowly creeps back... Please report if this does or doesn't happen to youIn case it hasn't been posted here, the new 12.4 beta is a game changer for this speaker pop issue. I tried all of the suggestions about changing the hertz, deleting those files, tried apple support, etc. Nothing resolves this for me. Anything network-related (zoom, streaming, etc) would pop constantly. It was terrible, especially now that we are traveling again and I use my laptop to listen to music in hotel rooms, etc.
Someone on the apple thread about this said that 12.4 fixed and while it isn't 100% I've got some 5 pops a minute to 1 or 2 a day and always when something processor straining occurs (opening an adobe app, etc).
Update: I have noticed that the crackling typically starts after periods of high RAM usage; this issue is probably more prevalent amongst power users.Sadly, I too am experiencing this same issue and starting looking on forums because my 14" M1 MacBook Pro is also exhibiting the same crackling issue. Perhaps this has something to do with the new speakers being of a much higher overall quality?
How ironic. Apple will likely deny the issue even exists.
It happens even with low RAM usage for me..Update: I have noticed that the crackling typically starts after periods of high RAM usage; this issue is probably more prevalent amongst power users.
I’ve been dealing with an Apple Senior Advisor for over 2 months now and having this issue for at least 4 months with no end in sight. They can’t give me an ETA for a fix, they wont replace the MacBook, they even refused to refund me so i can go buy a computer that doesn’t cost 3 grand and also sound like a goddamn geiger counter.Has apple even acknowledged this and they are trying to fix it? Has anyone gone to apple store to see what they say? I’m sure they’ll blame it on your email inbox being full but still anyone try?

They don’t know how to fix it and they barely mention any issues with audio in patch notes (in the Mac updates). It seems they’ve been trying but not nearly hard enough. Apple is not the company it once was. This is the last Mac I will ever buy if this is how Apple is coming.
16" MacBook Pro (M1 Pro) My left speaker only started popping last week... maybe a couple days after I upgraded Monterey to 12.3.1. I took it to the genius bar and it wouldn't reproduce (of course). I went home and it was crackling again. I re-installed 12.3.1 once but the problem persisted. I reinstalled 12.3.1 again, and so far it's no crackling. We'll see....
I want to report that on my 2021 16" MacBook Pro (M1 Pro) I started developing the issue around a month after I received the unit. ONLY on the LEFT speaker. I wouldn't call it "popping", but it was a distortion that seemed like something was loose and rattling around. The sound level did not need to be very high. I even was able to play it for AppleCare support! They even heard it in the "restart sound" when I did a restart!
I changed the speaker balance to move everything over to the right speaker. Then, I made an appointment a few weeks later to bring in the unit to be examined my a Genius at the Apple Store. But the night before, I moved the balance back to centered and the issue had disappeared!
I brought the unit in anyway. They opened it up and couldn't find a problem. But I expect that sooner or later it will return.
Thanks so much for the report alifuu. I did the the same thing during the Beta 12.3 and of course, that didn't do it. Hope to see they put this into the actual change log to confirm that it was addressed. Looking out for your 48 hour update!UPDATE - I downloaded a software update to beta 12.4 and it's been 36 hours so far and not a crackle or pop sound...my fingers are crossed but I'll update you all in another 48 hrs
