Shiiiit, I think I blew up my subwoofers. Was playing music at full volume and heard a pop and now there's definitely less bass. Did a restart and it's still like this
Had the same issue and the following steps fixed it:
- (Menu Bar): Go > Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences > Audio
- Delete the com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist and com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist files
- Empty trash
- Restart
So far, this did it for me!
After doing this I've been ok for the last 2 days. I hope it will last.Had the same issue and the following steps fixed it:

Software may cause CPU hangs. In any case, if you read the thread you won't see much evidence that a replacement will be better.I think this might be frequent short CPU hangs, not a software issue.
I've searched everywhere for a solution and nothing seems to work, and apple support wasn't helpful as well. Would a replacement fix the issue, or is it a universal issue?
I have this annoying popping sound and it happens very frequently after having my 16" M1 pro MBP running for 4+ hours with Ram usage around 80%. One thing that I noticed is that the crackling sound happens on the internal speaker, but when connecting an external speaker or headphone it still happens but in a different form (the sound stops for milliseconds). I think this might be frequent short CPU hangs, not a software issue.

That is what they always say when there is an issue "oh wow we've never seen that before", "we haven't seen this issue", are they blatantly trained to lie lol? /HalfjokeMy last post spoke about the same results with 12.3 Beta 5. Yesterday 12.3 RC was released and while the pops and crackles are still present, it's actually better. It happens but not as consistent or frequently. And this is taxing the CPU with two VM's, multiple browsers opened and rendering a video with Handbrake. I don't expect that it will be fixed and for anyone thinking that a replacement will help, it won't! Whenever I speak to anyone at Apple (phone support of Genius Bar), they are all saying they never heard this reported before! How is this possible because this is HUGE issue. They marketed how great these speakers are and the built in DAC as a main feature.
Let's hope for more improvements between this weeks RC release and next weeks production. Don't hold your breath but please let's make some noise to Apple!
It was never fixed in the 2019 16" MBP.Look guys, this issue was present on the 2019 16" MBPs and it was fixed then. It will be fixed again. So, all the postulating and theory is a waste of time. Apple will be aware of it, regardless. And it will be addressed.
These items are pretty expensive for people to take risks on and just assume it will get fixed, it's perfectly reasonable for people to be upset/concerned. It should have been fixed already.Look guys, this issue was present on the 2019 16" MBPs and it was fixed then. It will be fixed again. So, all the postulating and theory is a waste of time. with my 14" it started after about 3 months.Had my 16" M1 Pro MBP for a week now and 0 popping sound.
Hi Buzzman:"They told me the inside of the Macbook was full of dust and dirt and all they did was clean it."
