The text on the hoarding no longer says "Coming Soon".
Just "Apple Store, Princes Street"

It's been updated with "Opening 18.10.2014"

Makes more sense than the 17th. They traditionally open In Saturdays, but I suppose 17th could have happened as its a day after the October announcement.

(Edit - I don't know why, but when I post from my iPhone the thumbnail appears upside down. It happened on my iPhone4 and now on my 6. Weird.)

It's the way you are holding it. :) Literally.
Thanks for the update on store opening.

It only seems to be on this forum - it shows the right way up in every other app and when I post to Facebook and Twitter.
I use the volume button as the shutter, and it's at the top when I do. If you're saying I need to have the shutter button at the bottom the that's a weird camera layout.

No, I was only jesting. It can sometimes happen if the phone is tilted forwards or backwards.

At last. Now if Apple would offer a free repair option for the GPU doomed 2011 MacBook Pros..

They work correctly..

Little ambiguous. They move, so they 'work' but they don't go the full line as originally planned, and they cause chaos at traffic lights because the lights give the tram priority, so you can be stuck at a red light for 5 minutes.

I find this happens a lot if you use the camera in the volume button as shutter orientation. It seems that this is actually upside down from a sensor point of view and so relies on the app/website reading the meta data which details which way you were holding the device.

Very strange - as when I view the photo on any app on the phone it's the right way up.

I think I may test editing it, rotating it 4 times, then uploading again. A hassle, but most workarounds are . . .

That works - it appears to be that the board's software doesn't read the EXIF data attached to the image. Manually rotating in the Photo app Edit function actually rewrites the pixels to the right way up (emailing the pic now shows the pic's name as FullSizeRender.jpg instead of IMG_0xxx.JPG).

I have the same problem in Windows as MS doesn't like EXIF data either (they didn't invent it and can't make money licencing it)

Yeah that is what I end up doing too in scenarios were the orientation data is ignored.

I do find it odd that Apple positioned the sensor so that taking a picture in this way results in an upside down photo. Surely it would make more sense to flip the sensor?

After many months under cover the store is finally unveiled. I guess minimalism takes the maximum time.

Perfectly fine!

I might try and pop in tomorrow - would be nice to see the screen in that new 5k retina iMac if they have one already.

Just walked by and didn't see anything but didn't look too close. Staying a block away on same street. On vacation; nice weather, fantastic city.

Thanks. Enjoy your vacation. You should try and visit in August as the festival is on then and the city is buzzing unless you timed your trip for the opening of the store!

Just walked past - really busy, several hundred people queuing, and lots of happy noise and clapping etc!
