Still no movement from within.. and we're half way through the festival.
Given the 10 day notice Apple usually gives when officially announcing new store opening, looks like we're delayed into September at the earliest.

They were covering up the murals this morning - looks like it might be a long delay?

I'm hoping it'll be in time for the new iPhone etc - maybe the same day?

Really? Hope they haven't pulled out at the last minute!

I went passed on the bus couple of nights ago and the building was lit up, looked really nice.

I ran past at lunchtime and did a double take as its just a plain white hoarding now, was wondering when that happened.

. . . . AND . . . the graphics are back on the hoarding saying Coming Soon.

Maybe they replaced it all to get rid of the little bit of graffitti that appeared on the end at the top of the side road 2 weeks ago?

They've put it up again?! Surely they could've painted over the bit graffiti rather than starting all over again. Sucks it still says 'coming soon' rather than giving a date.

The store could've made a fortune this month had it opened in time. The amount of tourists during the festival who would be buying an extra charging adapter, case etc.

Wouldn't surprise me if the council were responsible for the delay because they really are a bunch of incompetent morons most of the time.

IFO are reporting the reason for the delay is due the flooring needing replaced for the entire store.

I wonder if Edinburgh will ever get an Apple Store!

I can't see anything referring to the floor? Hopefully they've not had to rip up the floor and having to dismantle wall panels in the process, otherwise they're almost back to square 1.

If we go for the usual 2-3 weeks lead time from decorating the hoardings to opening up (a bit of an assumption now, I'll admit), then this puts it just before the iPhone6 announcement, and in time to privide the phones on release day.

I do hope so - I need a new phone (my original iPhone 4 is on its last legs)and I'd like to support my local store rather than elsewhere.

It's annoying - I know I can buy the bits I need in Glasgow (where I work), but I live in Edinburgh and I try to spend money closer to home if I can.

I know it all goes to Apple anyway, but it contributes to the success of a local store which feeds into staffing etc.

Unfortunately as my iPhone4 is starting to die, I'll need to buy the new phone in Glasgow :(

I managed to get one reserved for collection at Buchanan St at 9am this friday. By the time I managed to get a decent enough connection to the site there were no Plus iPhones available to reserve anywhere in the UK. I think they underestimated the demand for the bigger option (I wanted it for the image stabilising and the bigger battery - 2 of the 3 differences)

On the topic of the Edinburgh store, I saw what looked like a load of plywood and plasterboard getting taken out of the store this morning (7:30) and getting skipped. Not sure what it means (or if it means anything at all).

The Plus was always going to be limited stock, not just because of demand but because they weren't able to make as many in time.

Glass staircase was installed (or arrived in bits) on the 7th of Sept. Hopefully we aren't too far away now. I'd like to be able to go in and feel the iPhone 6 Plus to justify me going for the 4.7!

Thats not a glass stair case its for the window that was smashed you can see it in corner. Had a long lead time.

The interior has been complete for some time. Ready to go now.

How much the Balmoral Hotel must be happy about this. Gone are the days where the fanciest hotel in Edinburgh looked out over a Burger King!

Someone posted that a photographer who often does Apple Store interior promo shots has been booked for the 17th-19th October and that should mean the store is open round about then.
