Jobs still live. The managers were all head hunted, one coming from a very nearby related store!

Windows in (standard black frames ala Apple store), Roof rebuilt (just requiring tiling)
Building set to be watertight by September, might be a huge task to get it finished by the festive period.. but you never know.

Apple won't occupy the whole of the 3 units combined. Barclays bank are also opening there with a flagship design in the middle unit (2) Basement, Ground and First floor.

Which the drawings suggest the Apple store shall be over two floors with also a basement and easily the largest of the Three units.

Feel sorry for the company that just opened an iPhone repair shop across the road from it. (just down the steps to Waverley Station.)

Yup, great to be seeing real progress... finally!

Given the time they've been working on this project, this could be one amazing apple store..

Or just identical to every other apple store.

Either way, exciting......

Can't believe it's taken so long to get a store opened in Edinburgh. Just glad it's close to the station as the trams have made accessing Princes Street a nightmare otherwise!

Not sure what you are on about. You can drive right up to the store from 3 directions (4 if you include north bridge).. Never been possible to park nearby anyway.

Coming from the west, it has been a pain for a couple of years; roads closed off and extended diversions. You can certainly get to it but it's not by the quickest route available. If I was ever hitting the city centre, I would choose the train hence why I'm glad it's so close to the station.

Yeah, that should be sorted by the time this store opens. Shandwick Place shall be opening in Autumn.

Went past this week, and yes it's great to see the building finally looking like a building, rather than a shell!

Have you spotted the little laminated signs just inside the fences directing workmen deliveries to "Apple store deliveries at rear"...

:)

Not been past it in a while, but would be good to see a photo of that. Ultimate confirmation.

If you go on there website that was the point they wanted to open there as the apple store was coming! Go on there website it's applestoreedinburgh.co.uk! There was an article in the scotsman aswell. They are just going to compete with them.

Well they've come on a lot with the exterior of the building. Can't see it opening this year though.

Definitely not this year... I would bet for Early 2014.

Yeah, I'd say around April at the earliest. If the Apple Store was finished ahead of the hotel/other bits of that building, depends whether they'd open it up or not.

Good stuff..

Surprised it's taken Apple so long to get a store in Edinburgh..

I think it will be a very busy shop!

So structural challenges, and the trams are to blame for the delay then?

Wonder how much the council's managed to get out of Apple to contribute towards the tram project? Primark had to pay £150k.

Going to be weird being able to walk along there properly again. I see so many non locals walking along the temporary pavement in the dark completely unaware of that sneaky small but deep puddle!

Was past there earlier. They have replaced all the paving stones at the front and also the bus shelter just at the very left unit. Apple are to occupy the the corner unit ie Three on the right and nearly all the way up the hill. Barclays is occupying the centre (isn) unit which is to be a flagship shop design.

Council are planning to fix the cobbles/pavements behind the shop so the area can be used as a walk through from the Tram stop & when the new shopping centre opens (St James Quarter). Pretty dingy right now, two great pubs there though... lucky staff!

Here is a recent photo now the scaffolding is largely down.
