Well, your problem did sound more like an interference, so you did good replacing the HDMI cable. Can only go on my own experience on this one as I used to have issues with my ATV4K 1st gen where the remote would become sluggish and at times unresponsive while using Chroma 4:4:4 or RGB High.
Yeah, I hear you. I‘ve had issues with their app in the past too. Took me a couple of tries to pull the 4K signal from the event.I have the 2021 version ATV. I watched the game via the Fox Sports app on my ATV. The info card for the game in the Fox Sports app said it was in 4K but my Sony TV will tell me when it’s getting an HDR signal by putting an HDR badge in the settings. I got no HDR badge thru the Fox app. However, if I used the internal Fox Sports app thru the Sony’s Google TV app, I got the HDR badge. So that is why I was wondering how you were getting HDR using the Fox Sports app on the Apple TV. Hope this makes sense.
I always get that voice message after switching profiles.I’ve also noticed that whenever it is disconnected, tvOS displays a notification badge explaining that the AppleTV can now identify me by my voice. This badge is only displayed after a disconnection. I still firmly believe it is a software bug, we just don’t know what triggers it. You are indeed lucky that your setup doesn’t.
All of mine are ethernet connected, and this has no positive effect on minimizing disconnections.I’d like to add the disconnect problem seems to go away for me when using Ethernet.
tvOS 16.3 did not solve this issue at all.
Just had it happen again on the Gen2 AppleTV 4K with same update, it just drives me nuts. This was never an issue with any AppleTV I can remember and I have all of them.
Apple software quality is getting worse and worse by the day.
Kudos to you for being part of the (potential) solution. Please keep us posted on what you find!I had raised a ticket through the feedback app for this issue (Apple TV 4K 2022) since I replaced my 2021 model with a 2022 model, so sitting in exactly the same physical location as the 2021 ATV, the new one disconnects daily and I have to use the remote app on phone to select restart, then I can use the Siri remote again.
Today Apple called me ! They asked if they could install a Bluetooth profile for 10 days on my ATV to collect data, I said sure, they talked me through it and I now have the profile installed and asked me to jot down times of the day when I see the issue.
I hope it helps to solve the issue !
This happens to me too and sometimes I have to manually re-pair it: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203777My first Apple TV version 1 used to keep giving a message on the tv screen it had lost connection, but would connect automatically as soon as I pressed any button on it. My newest latest generation 4K model disconnects with no notice. I pick it up and it's just dead. No way to get it to reconnect that I've found. Since it doesn't have a manual on/off switch you can't turn it off to reset it. I've tried restarting the Apple TV and sometimes that works, sometimes not. Then after a few minutes it reconnects. Can't run anything on the TV until it reconnects. I'm starting to hate Apple TV. I might have to go back to a Roku.
That was very good information. Thank you. I printed that out so I don't forget what to do.This happens to me too and sometimes I have to manually re-pair it: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203777
So over a month has passed since I first got the ATV4K 3rd and have just had my first remote disconnect this morning so couldn’t turn the unit on.
Turned it on with my phone then proceeded to repair the remote, move closer to continue pairing but then found nothing again once I sat down again on the sofa which is around 3 meters away away.
Repaired again and same result, got up moved closer and it reconnected, sat back down and nothing.
So this time I thought I’d tried restarting the AppleTV and that seems to of resolved it.
I tried restarting the Apple TV and that didn't work for me. Just all of a sudden it started working again. If it keeps giving problems the only solution would be to go back to Roku! I had a first Gen Apple TV that did that quite often, but almost immediately reconnected all by itself.Same here. I am constantly getting these disconnects and ultimately only a restart of the Apple TV sorts it. Incredible that this problem still exists and I have a feeling it will be yet another issue to add to the list that Apple won't ever fix.
The reason why is pretty much down to Bluetooth interference when using higher bandwidth video settings for the UI.I tried restarting the Apple TV and that didn't work for me. That all sounds interesting but are you talking about changing options on your tv or on the Apple TV? Can you give some directions where to look for those changes? I'm just running HD, not 4K and mostly I'm streaming movies from my computer. I don't know how changing the chroma setting on the TV would affect the bluetooth remote to Apple TV. Or even changing Chroma on the Apple TV (if that's what you're talking about) because There really shouldn't be any relationship between the chroma setting and bluetooth. The reason why is pretty much down to Bluetooth interference when using higher bandwidth video settings for the UI.
I had the same issue with my 1st Gen model while set to 4KSDR with Chroma at 4:4:4 which I eradicated the issue completely by simply changing my chroma setting from 4:4:4 to 4:2:0.
A better shielded HDMI cable should also suffice but by far the simplest solution is to just make sure the UI is set to SDR and change the Chroma setting to the lesser bandwidth option.
