Hi,

It’s true, you don’t need this update in order to install XP SP3. It just installs like it should without the update.

I installed this update many days before I installed SP3, but SP3 still messed up my mouse and audio (both are extremely jerky now)

It looks like you're better off without this BC update till 2.1.1 or so...

"It looks like you're better off without this BC update till 2.1.1 or so..."

You can say that again. Do they not test these things before they release them?

I'm booting Vista Business 64. Had to download and install the update, since the Apple Software Updater couldn't handle it. Afterwards my sound was out and my video drivers(8800 GT) were DOA. I only had to re-enable my sound drivers and reinstall the video drivers (um, or give Vista permission, repeatedly, to do so) but I'm still not sure everything is back to normal. After all the hassle, boot camp was still listed as being on version 2.0. WTF.
I'll try again later, maybe, but what a pain in the neck.

Also, either I forgot to uncheck the ***** box or they forced me download and install Safari with the stupid BC update. Either way it's annoying...stop. I don't want your stupid web browser STEVE! :apple:

would this update any sound drivers? It took me a few hours to get the sound working under XP when I installed a few months ago, I don't want it to stop working now.

same thing here, I spent a lot of hours trying to get sound working and it's been working since, so.. will boot camp 2.1 mess that up?

edit: so I installed 2.1 and it messed up my screen resoltion, I just changed it back and that's it, no problems, sound still working properly.

Tried Everything, still can't install Bootcamp Update!

I have tried everything in this thread and still can't install the update on a Windows XP install. I wish apple would do more testing before they released this update.

With all my searching for ideas on how to get this update to install I did fix one problem.

My screen was blurry. I updated the Intel onboard Graphics drivers from the Intel website and now everything is clear. If only I could figure out how to fix the jerky trackpad.

I really want to install SP3 on this laptop. It is the last machine I need to install the service pack on. I just don't want to take a chance and find out it will later cause problems installing the future update of Bootcamp.

got it done

btw...I managed to get the update installed. I downloaded the file directly from Apples website, and stayed close by in case any administrative permissions dialog boxes popped up. Maybe a dozen or so clicks later, I was updated and everything was functional. I updated my video card drivers just to play it safe, and everything is normal. By normal I mean that Vista still takes nearly a minute to boot and then another minute to stabilize enough to be useful after that, but that's windows for ya! :)

I was having problems installing due to regional settings.

So I got bored and deleted my Vista 32bit partition.

Installed all over again

1) Installed bootcamp 2.0 from the CD
2) Updated to 2.1 via apple update

Then installed Vista sp1 :)

Hope that helps someone

64 bit update not working

If one of the new Boot Camp 2.1 updates is designed for Vista 64 bit, why doesn't anything happen when I try to get the exe file to execute in Windows Vista (64)? Has anyone answered that question yet?
