I hate the new Dock. A little part of my heart truly hates it, the rest hates it even more.

The old one was so beautiful while the new is so "Ubuntu" like.

]If someone share this feeling, please add a comment to this thread hoping that Apple, reading it, will bring the old Dock back.

I want to reassure you that Apple executives read every post on MacRumors and if enough people respond to this thread it is guaranteed the old dock, which you like, will be back.

Trust me...they read every post.

No doubt...they'll change it!

And if you believe that, I have a Bridge in Brooklyn I'm willing to let go cheap!;)

:rolleyes::D

Apple doesn't read this site. You would need to use Feedback Assistant. There is a possibility that Apple monitors the AppleSeed Form but still all feedback (called Enhancement Request) MUST be through Feedback Assistant.

I'm pretty sure that Feedback is only for current/past versions and not betas. Feedback Assistant is for betas only.

I'm not a developer, but I would have to assume that there is a feedback process for them too.

Yes we have a program called Feedback Assistant. That is what I'm referring to in my posts. It is an App (not a website) that is just for the betas and files reports and Apple engineers give feedback or answers.

The current dock fits with iOS 7 and their translucent aesthetic. If they change the doc, the 3d effect will have to be updated as well and not by just dialing down the reflections.

There will probably be a terminal command to bring it back, Like when the 3d dock appeared in leopard, you could bring the 2d dock back with a terminal command. Specifically "defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES".

The old one was so beautiful

Yes, but the old one does not go well with the new flat UI style. It wouldn't look right. For me, the new Dock is like going back to the way it looked in Tiger (10.4). I like it!

The color of the Mail icon, on the other hand...

I love the new dock compared to the old one, was never a big fan of the old one.

I will submit positive feedback to counter your negative feedback on this.

Not my most favourite part of the redesign either. Apple offering a choice? You must be new!

You can submit your thoughts directly to Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
If you're on the developer preview then you should be using http://bugreport.apple.com. Submit an enhancement issue, make sure to set the version as 10.10 and don't just complain about the new Dock, be specific about what you preferred with the old one. If enough developers express things they don't like about the new Dock then Apple might change it before the final version, or offer an option for a more Mavericks style version.

I believe they did this after the Dock lost the app indicators (Lion?) and put them back, so they definitely do occasionally listen to feedback :)

The 10.8.2-10.9.x dock used system resources as it changed from static images with a slight reflection to a full on independent, active feature (which is why modding it wasn't possible after 10.8.2). Now they've made transparency a system hog as app windows (core app's for now) actively render the transparency, which is why many experience scrolling lags (esp. on retina systems).

So they removed a feature that ate resources only to replace it with another system wide design that eats more resources.

That Finder icon is atrocious, as is the new "Miami Vice" 80's blue folder. In fact, most are fugly, they're adding vibrant colors to OS X and keeping the sidebar's grey.

yeahhh, i'm not a fan of the dock too. Spotlight as well, maybe theres a way we can go back to previous themes... soon?

Weren't you ones complaining how Apple ditched the 2D dock? No that it's back, they're complaining again. Just ignore these types of posts, please.

Well, no, that's a little unfair. I ran with a 2D dock for years, even using whatever Terminal command it was to make the 3D dock flat. Now I've shifted my Mavericks dock to the right, which makes it 2D anyway.

However, even the Mavericks 2D dock is easier on the eye - it looks like frosted glass, not the slightly odd, dull transparency of Yosemite.

But more important, the Yosemite activity indicators are very bizarre - those little black dots which vanish into dark backgrounds. The blue lights of Mavericks are much easier to see (and look better, IMO), so hopefully they'll make a comeback.

Plus, once we have a set of uniform Yosemite icons, and they fix the spacing (although I think the dock spacing issues are more because some icons are 3D and some are 2D), it'll look a whole lot better and less Linux-like.

new dock is awesome!!!!

I always used 2d dock, it's a thousand times better. The problem is that you are not used to it, you are used to the old 3d dock, which is lithe the leather in the calendar and all that crap. Get over. 3d dock is gone for good, thanks god it did.

Hope apple reads this; NEW DOCK IS AWESOME, SO PLEASE, SPEND YOUR TIME THINKING ABOUT FONT IN NON RETINAS, CAUSE IT REALLY SUCKS.
