.... and I thought I was addicted to :apple: products!

My 27" i7 with SSD shipped overnight and shows an estimated delivery date of August 9th. As indiciated by the agent when I ordered by phone, the unit does indeed seem to have been produced in Cork, Ireland, serial number is CK031xxxxxx, yet when I phoned chasing yesterday as my order had changed from 'Not yet shipped' to 'Prepared for shipment' and back to 'Not yet shipped', they told me my unit was on the dock, awaiting shipment, in Hong Kong!

Anyway, if they keep to 9th August delivery, that suits me as I'm off work that day, albeit I'd rather they deliver it sooner!

EDIT: spoke with Apple again, seems they were guessing when they said it was in Hong Kong .... my iMac i7 was built in Cork, Ireland and is shipping from there. Strange, as my last iMac i7 (which I returned for yellow screen issues) was built in Shanghai ....

Update on my status !

EDD was 11-12 Aug Now 9th Aug and reads "Shipment dispatched"
getting pretty excited now. Hope its here before the weekend.

Anybody know wheres these are coming from, people talking about Ireland and China  really hope its the Irish

My 2010 iMac 27" i7 HAS ARRIVED!!

Really happy with my purchase.

upon boot up I do not have any yellow tint or high pitched noise from changing brightness and no gray bands!!

First thing I did was install Starcraft 2. Set everything to HIGH and max res. Only a tiny bit of slow done but still very impressed with it!

Will be installing Windows 7 later! and will have some pictures uploaded of my setup.

Epic! :)

That slowdown you are having only happen in OSX, u will se great performance in WIndows

How did you find out the serial number of a machine that you haven't received yet?

Thanks!

Ordered mine 29th and have a delivery date of the 9-10 August. I am living in France. Guess I can wait a week....

Let's see....

Wow 9882 I have the same computer and mine comes in at about 8300 I have 8 GB ram. Is the difference because you ran geekbench in 64 bit mode? I used the free one.

Thanks

-12 gigs of ram
-64-bit version
-not running any applications (used top in terminal to stop un-needed services).
-Stop webserver and file sharing
-There are a few other things you can do as well.

There's one guy who managed to get slightly over 10,000 with one and I really want to know how he did it - my guess is a fast SSD with the OS installed.
Maybe he even put the 1333mhz iMac memory in it even though the bus isn't technically capable of supporting it, it may have given him an edge.

I'm also considering putting the larger ram chips in the initial memory slots versus where they are now (they were put in the empty slots - the initial
memory are smaller 2 gig chips so I think initial larger chips might give better performance).

I managed to get it from 9500 to this just by playing around.

Heh

Even with it's crappy Optiarc internal optical drive (which I later replaced), Logic installed faster than 12 hours...seems like it took me about 4 or 5 total.

I will report back on performance of Logic once I get it installed and updated. My hope is that it will be a beast...

This is going to look silly but: this is one of my most intense logic sessions with the CPU meter.

The thing is loafing around like nothing is happening - there's even two cores where nothing IS happening:

I seriously can go FAR beyond the "wall" my G5 had but didn't find until I was into it a few years.

Oh one more thing....

We should almost have a "geekbench optimization" thread.

I managed to get my G5 2.5 dual be the top machine in that category (2312) (benching in the range of the 2.7 machines) due to optimization.

It's amazing how little things can get higher numbers.

i7 is here

My wife's 27" i7 2tb machine came today and it's perfect. No screen problems, no brightness buzzing problems.

Happy customer.

Awesome, its so good that Apple seems to have fixed most of the problems with the previous gen.

Cant wait to get my i7 this friday

Lol, My wife and I are both gadget nuts. In order to keep the marriage working we decided it would be best for whatever toy one gets, the other also gets. :)

Gets expensive when we both want 27" I7's with 2tb+SSD.

Being that you're in the Tampa area, when did your's ship and when was the original delivery date?

This is my first post and will be my first Mac :) My i7 will be delivered friday, I'm sooo hyped!!! how can I get the most out of my mac?

I ordered it last Thurs., it shipped same day from CA, and the original delivery was set for tomorrow. I never get things early. Usually late.

That's surprising. I ordered last Tuesday, it shipped Thursday and I haven't gotten a tracking update on it since Saturday morning. Supposed to be here on Thursday.
