iPadOS in EU is about to get its own branch. It's going to be a very different experience now with emulators and unrestricted side loading. Very closer to the Mac Experience.
There were rumours that the iPad would get some kind of MacOS support. If the iPad supported MacOs APPs I would have bought it immediately. The Mac experience is running Mac OS apps, I want Lightroom and Photoshop at parity, this aint happening now. Hoping to see what is released at WWDC. Hybrid iPadOS/Mac OS in IOS 18 ?

I don’t know.

I’d personally give credit to designers on Star Trek TNG

The tablet form factor was hardly some invention of Apple

You do know that Star Trek is fictional right :p. While Apple did not invent the tablet form factor they certainly have kept it going. I don't know anyone that has a comparable tablet, does anyone even make a comparable Android tablet and still it any kind of volume ?

Locking the nano-texture glass behind the 1TB or 2TB storage options only is a real ******* move by Apple.

Not enough differentiation, people complain, differentiate , people complain. It's a premium feature, otherwise too many SKUs.

Starting price wouldn't be bad if they didn't find a million ways to nickel-and-dime you. The glass. Cellular. A grand for 2TB of storage. Obviously pencil and keyboard aren't included but a "Pro" tablet isn't too useful without them, is it? Nearly $2,000 later and you still have a neutered tablet OS.

I learned minutes ago it wasn't until TODAY that Final Cut "Pro" for iPad "Pro" was finally blessed with...wait for it...EXTERNAL STORAGE SUPPORT! Aside from the ability to draw and the different form factor which suits certain situations, nothing about the iPad Pro makes it more useful than a laptop.

I think the lower-end iPads are a great value - better than a phone for sitting around the house, flying, riding in someone's vehicle, etc. The best announcement today was the 10th gen being dropped to $350.

The sideloading isn’t unrestricted. Apps still need to go through Apple’s review and notarization process.

This why I end up behind the curve at most points. Bought a 12.9” M1 16GB/1TB/5G for $1199 back in 2023 and a 13” MBP M2 24GB/1TB earlier this year for $1299 and I don’t regret the savings and foregoing having the latest and greatest.

I love my iPad Pros, but I don’t love how Apple holds back on iPadOS. Hopefully, iPadOS 18 moves the needle forward, but I’m not holding my breath.

How odd. Just remove and leave same design. How much could this save if trying to keep cost down. The iPad isn’t the most used for pictures bur still. Once again, Apple still will not release a product with all available tech. Removing something that was already incorporated, wow.
I suspect it wouldn‘t fit the reduced thickness.

"New iPad Pro With All Options Highest Specs and All Apple's Newest Accessories Costs Over $3,000", Fixed it. "All Options" is a little ambiguous, where do you draw the line, you could easily spend $10k on accessories, and it's not over $3k for just the iPad.

But yes a very expensive iPad.

Actually for most people, the iPad Air is the logical choice. It supports pretty much every accessory now and comes in 13", same as the iPad Pro.

The only thing the new Pros have over the Air are the OLED displays and M4 processors really. Most consumers should just get the iPad Air. The Pro is for people who really want to spend money on an iPad for the absolute best tablet tech from Apple.
And pay off the R&D for Apple fast, so they can maximise the profit when the M4 goes mainstream in the iPad range in a couple of years.

Yes the profit margins are ridiculous on the higher storage tiers of… well literally every Apple product. They make a lot of their money that way.

What. No love for the tablet design in the 60's original Star Trek? Given the time and budget they did a good job of predicting the tablet, including the Apple Pencil. TNG just moderised the design, which given the tech they could put into the props back when TNG hits the airwaves makes sense.

My work computer is a high end Surface Pro and comes with most accessories, wish Apple would truly compete. There are many corps I've worked for that would buy them up to deploy as workstations.

Yes but its less restrictive. Right now there's an annoying 7 day validity if you don't have a dev account.

Not surprising to see maxed out versions of any Apple product to cost sky high!
