Seems much cheaper!! What network do they use?
Sky use O2 network. Can't really get my head around their Swap deals tbh
[doublepost=1541153563][/doublepost]Edit: Looks like Swap24 is a 36 month agreement (hence the lower monthly cost), with a considerable upgrade cost option available at the 24 month mark. This approach might work for some

Yeah essentially they are 36 and 48 month contracts with the option to swap at 24 and 36 months respectively. I’d guess that at the swap points there’s a chance the value of the iPad would exceed the remaining credit though. I might end up going this route - could be ready for swapping at 36 months anyway.

Edit: just to add the “Swap Price” they refer to is what they estimate they will pay you for your IPP at the swap date - which is the same as the remaining credit payments due. So there’s a chance there could be +/- equity but you’d only pay the swap price if your IPP was worth nothing. Hope this makes sense.

Hopefully won’t need to wait 28 days but ordered Smart Keyboard which is 2-3 weeks but pencil arrives Saturday

Do you think Apple would ship it early than their website says? 2-3 weeks without a keyboard isn’t great.

As I said in a previous post here, EE offered me the Pencil for £10 per month for 11 months or £85 upfront. Just thinking about this and both options work out cheaper than the retail price for the new pencil. I think they may have been offering me the old gen 1 pencil at that price?

Best check you are getting the new keyboard

Well I ordered the new pencil and keyboard via apple.

Didn’t see where you could buy the keyboard via EE

Wow.

These prices are ridiculous - just checked them now on my lunch break.
Craaaazy.

These prices are nuts. You'd have to be completely stupid to pay this from a carrier. I'll stick to buying outright with Apple.
These Devices cost like £1,270 for the model I want so what do people really expect when it’s £90 odd for the phones? Products at this price point always will be very high monthly costs.

I’ve worked out that minus the cost of a 256gb iPad you’re paying £23 ish a month for 20gb cellular data plan.

Sim only they offer 30gb for £26 or 15gb for a bit cheaper.

So all in all I’d say that it’s about right!

What will you pay for a data sim though?

I think calling people stupid is wrong, if they can afford it then why not? For me I'm only paying £7 more per month than I was for my previous contract with my iPad Pro 9.7" and am getting an new £1100 device.

For me, an iPad is something id rather spread out over 2-3 years with a cellular contract as im not upgrading them yearly like the iPhone.

Just because you cannot justify it, doesn't mean the ones who can justify it are stupid.

Nothing to do with not being able to justify it - I simply won't waste money by handing it to a carrier for something I can get far cheaper from Apple direct. In my opinion, that's stupid economics.

I've ordered the iPad direct from Apple. I already have a 15GB data sim at £10 per month. Hence, these prices being crazy. Sky don't even hide the fact that they charge a premium for the iPad over the Apple MRSP, whilst claiming it's a 0% loan.

For me my total cost over 2 years is only £223 more than the cost of the iPad Pro outright, divide that by 24 and im paying £18 per month for the data connection, again I don't see what's stupid about that?

Clearly not a deal that has been posted in the thread and therefore is obviously not covered by my comments. As I have no crystal ball and cannot possibly guess what particular deal/tariff you have specifically benefitted from, I am commenting on the prices from EE and Sky that have been shared in the thread.

Well £62 per month, take off 10% is £55 per month for 24 months works out at £1339.20 so its £223 more than just buying the device outright from Apple. I get 2gb per month for that, but as with my current iPad, I usually end up tethering my iPhone to my iPad and just gift the data from my iPad contract to my iPhone one. (I actually take the SIM card out the iPad straight away)

You must have missed my post then.....

I didn't even notice that - saw the 0% and thought it would be at cost. O2 are cheaper for the device cost but then the monthly payments are more as you own it outright at the end of the 36 months.

Again, I'm commenting on the generic tariffs and not the deals folk claim to have achieved (although I do wonder how you've managed to get a £70 tariff with £50 upfront fee for £55 with no upfront fee... over 20% discount?).

Either way, I wouldn't see paying an extra £223 over the duration for the privilege of 2GB data per month as a good deal. Of note, everyone else on this tariff will be paying £611 because they won't benefit from whatever it is you claim to have received.

Think folks might be missing the point on pricing. Whether you buy a phone or a tablet, buying from a provider is not a way to save money, at best its a way to spread the payments over 12/24 months because you don't want to shell out all at once.

The cheapest option (unless you have some sort of work discount to apply) is almost always to buy the device outright and then get some sort of sim only deal for the data.

Not at all missing the point. Buying a device from a carrier just to benefit from monthly payments is crazy when there are 0% finance options at retailers and interest-free credit cards.

It depends. For example, as non-UK citizen, I don't have any access to loans or credit cards here, but I can get it from a carrier.
