My iPhone 7 case arrived today - black leather. I have already requested a return and refund.

There are markings on the back (I get that this happens with leather, but for £45 I am not prepared to settle for that). And the corners are all rippled.

Neither of these were issues with my iPhone 6 black leather case 2 years ago.

I also think the buttons look very plastic like and cheap.

Photos attached. Hopefully this is just a one off, but thought I'd share in case.

My black case arrived today and looks almost identical to yours, big ripple on the lower right corner, uneven ripples in the surface near the power button and 'flaws' in the leather running up and down the back.

My black leather 5 case was perfect and aside from a tiny flaw in the hide my 6 case was spot on too, this one just feels so much cheaper like the leather's thinner, also the black colour doesn't seem as rich as the other two.

I have bad OCD with these sorts of things so I'm in two minds as what to do.

There's an Apple reseller round the corner from work and I popped in on my way home to see if they'd received any stock of the 7 cases to compare it to. They hadn't, but the guy was understanding and shared the same sentiment that if you're spending £45 on a case it's got to be close to perfect.

He happened to have an opened 6/6S Plus case on the pegs and quickly popped it out to compare and to my surprise it was just as creased on the corners, so perhaps it's a case of live with it as it seems since they moved to the 'blind' packaging the quality has gone down as well and without being able to see the case before you buy, it's a lottery as to wether you get a good one or not!

My black leather iphone 7 case is out for delivery right now. UPS comes by my house late afternoon/early evening. After I get it, I will let you guys know if I have the same issues.

Yeah, please do, will be interesting to see if these are just bad examples or whether they're all as bad as each other!

This feels worse than it looks, very bumpy.

Big crease where the leather is folded over on itself. It's quite built up on the inside so the phone may not sit nicely, will have to see.

Did try to sit my 6 in it but the camera is slightly too high up and I didn't want to warp the new case.

Interestingly the quality difference is bigger than I first thought. After popping my 6 out of its case (first time in 2 years!) The differences are more apparent. The launch day 6 case is completely smooth inside (as is my 5/5S case that I dug out of a drawer) none of the creased/bunched up leather like this 7 case. The microfibre is also more integral on the older cases where this looks more 'stuck on'.

Not sure whether to chance a replacement online (probably not enough time to arrive for launch) or see if my nearest Apple Store will do a swap (or at least see if I can find a better example to buy and return the online one).

My OH doesn't quite sympathise as to her it's just a case, but when you're cased 24/7 then it becomes part of the phone and needs to be right!

I just got mine. I can kind of see the creases if I hold it at a certain angle but it doesn't bother me. I've had the leather case since they first made one and they are my favorite. I can't stand plastic cases anymore. The plastic buttons look a little cheap.

I think the stripes actually look good. Makes it unique.

Will the backs of these cases be thick enough to protect the camera when placed on a table. or will the camera bump protrude past the case?

I think one of the reviews said that the bump was about the same thickness as the 6 so Im assuming the apple case will still protect it.

Posted this in the saddle brown thread but thought I'd share this here too.

This is the 7 plus saddle brown leather case

Re creases and bumps in the corners of the case. They are completely normal and will smooth out as you use the case. This is from experience using both the 6 plus and 6s plus cases.
I really dig this case except the buttons... I really prefer the all 6/6s case buttons.

That looks pretty good, I dont see any marks or creases in the leather.

That looks perfect mate.

I wish I was a laid back as you guys! This case looks just as bad as the others, again the lower right corner has an overlap and looks to have lots of bunched up leather.

Admittedly it's smoother above the power switch so it's got that going for it but still not as great as the original 6 cases!

After 'sleeping on it' I've ordered another case this morning and will keep whichever's the better of the two. Fingers crossed the new one's an improvement, I'll post up pics when it arrives.

I'm holding a 6+ black leather case (used on a 6S+) in my hands now and it does look better than the ones posted.. My 7 black leather case comes today so I'll post some comparison pics later.

I received a Midnight Blue 7 Plus case yesterday. I think the color will go great with the matt black 7+. The leather is great and the overall quality is excellent. Here's a few (6S) pics:
