I think it looks really cool! I'd love an iPod of that size but with like 8GB of storage? I'm really looking forward to Wednesday. It looks great in hand if it is real.

so... headphone jack on the bottom? That would be good for in my pocket, because I could put it in head first and not have to work the controls upside-down. It would be bad in my car for the auxiliary jack. All I can say is this is the obvious 'look' it should have, as opposed to the other one that was rounded on all sides like a 4g (ugly). Looks pretty good, but probably fake.

Edit: There's also a bigger version here:

If that's real, I must say it looks great! I never really liked the earlier mock-ups, but this one doesn't portray the "fatPod" look. Very nice! :)

this nano does look nice and all.

buttt whats up with that background....if you look far away from it...the picture in it looks.....yeah. and its all scratched out. weird.

im convinced.

I supose this could be an update to the ipod nano but probably not the new fatpod because everything points to it being modeled after the 5G ipod video.

That nano mockup is not so bad. If thats what they decide to replace the nano with im gonna buy one for sure.

I dunno why, but I have a gut feeling that this is the real deal. Even though I have no idea what is up with the background...

I guess we'll see in a couple days

Except that that's the old headphone cable. The new one is more square and ends closer to the top. That looks like the one to the old headphones which had a smoother bevel and extended further downward.

idk if anyone has pointed this out yet, but look at the "shadow" behind the nano and the hand, it's like someone blotted out something that was there, to edit in the fake nano\hand

I like it! But the hand picture is clearly, clearly fake. I guess we'll all know soon enough...

Man I bought a MacBook since I thought the rumored iPhone without the phone device would not come out. Now I guess I am in a sticky situation, how much will this thing cost? I hope its reasonable, well I am a cheapo so I doubt it.

The current Nano's have the headphone jack in the bottom like that already. I'm pretty sure that this is what the new Nano will look like, and possibly updating the video iPod to a similar form factor, with the iPod touch as the top end one with full screen. I'm not sure if this picture is real or not, if it is real it is defiitally a publicity photo that has been leaked and we will probably see it on Apple's site on the 5th, but I'm going for now that it is a fake based off of the other leaked images.

ya.. zoom in on it. the bottom right of the click wheel is missing. so obviously shopped

I was critical of the earlier mockups of the Nano, but this one looks alright. Not quite as square, proportionally it's only a bit wider than a regular iPod.

I had my doubts at first, but if thats it, i dont think i would be too dissapointed, it looks pretty decent.

Bring it into a photo editor and bump up the contrast, the full circle is there. It's just a shadow from the finger.

Even so, just because it's Photoshopped doesn't mean it's not real. Maybe the creator doesn't want to get busted for posting actual photos, so they made an exact replica mockup.

The new fat ipod will be the new NANO... not the new video ipod like some are suggesting.

Why will it replace the nano? Because Apple wants to make money. And they can't make money from keeping a product around that everyone already owns.

Here's a few points...

1) Nano has been the best selling ipod. That means there are millions of people who own them. What does that mean to Apple? It means its time to make those millions of people feel like they have an outdated product.

2) Video is the new music. Expect Apple to make some pretty big strides in the video category before christmas. Whether that means video rentals or just a ton more content... Apple isn't going to release the new full screen ipod (along with apple tv) and then not cash in on the enormous potential of online video. With the news that other companies (like nbc) are trying to launch online video portals, you better believe that Apple will be nipping it in the bud and making itunes THE portal for online video. That being said... an all "video ready" ipod lineup is essential for their success in making it happen.

3) It isn't going to be that ugly. No one here has actually seen it yet so it's dumb to pretend that we know what it will be like. Will it be super thin? Will it feel better in your hand? Will it be shiney and pretty? We wont know the answers until Wednesday. Until then, it's safe to assume that Apple knows what they are doing and this will be an obvious improvement over the Nano.

4) It seems like the number one reason people have been citing for not liking the new form factor is, "how will people jog with it?" That seems like a pretty silly concern to me, but I'm sure Apple has an answer. Here's a couple questions that should be asked: How did people jog before the nano? and, How do people who own the current 5G video ipod jog? People are going to continue jogging with their ipods even if the form factor changes. AND let's not forget that Apple offers an iPod thats perfect for jogging... and it even has a CLIP to hold it in place! Will we eventually see the ipod shuffle drop the "shuffle" and gain a pretty little screen? Probably.

Taking into account those point, here are my predictions on what will be available after Weds.:

iPod Shuffle:
1 GB - $59
2 GB - $89

iPod Nano:(Maybe a name change?)
Video enabled fatpod
4 GB - $150
8 GB - $199
16 GB - $250

iPod:
multi-touch full screen w/ wireless syncing
50 GB - $299
120 GB - $399
