My thoughts:

I don't think a iPhone sans phone will happen. Cost of parts is too high.

The next iPod can't exclusively feature flash. Owners of big libraries will feel left out. Besides, the cost of 32GB of flash is too high to be practical.

A new line of iPods isn't going to happen. Not minimal at all.

iPod with touch is feasible. Either:
Cut out Nano. Introduce iPod with touch (4GB, 8GB, 30GB, 80GB). Same price points.
-- 2 flash models, 2 HDD models.
-- Flash models are obviously thinner.
-- Otherwise, there's the same design across the whole "touch" line.
-- Cover Flow
-- Built-in speaker?

Or:
-- Nano with 2.2" widescreen (4GB/8GB)
-- iPod with 3.5" widescreen (30GB/80GB)
-- Same price points.

The most likely announcements for me would be:
- Product (RED) iPod Shuffle
- Price drops on all players ($49 shuffle, $50 off every other player)
- 6G iPod with aluminum casing
- iPod label removed off back side; only Apple logo remains

Well, let's see... Take the iPhone that currently retails for 499/599, remove cell-phone, antennas, camera, microphone, headphone, flash and maybe WiFi. Add hard-drive. Done. I don't think that selling that device for 299/399 is out of the question. And remember: part of the cost in selling a device is the R&D-expenses. The R&D on the "iPhone-iPod" is about 90% done, thanks to the iPhone.

Why? Those sound absolutely crappy.

Why? Apple already has a great iPod in the iPhone, it would be dumb for them to NOT take advantage of that technology. I bet that we will get this:

a) Price-reduction in the 1GB Shuffle, introduction of 2GB Shuffle

b) New smaller Nanos with clickwheel. They might play video.

c) New iPhone-derived full-sized iPod Videos with 60/120GB of storage (maybe even more, but 60/120 would correspond nicely to single-platter/double-platter HD's, like current iPod do). They might or might not have WiFi and Bluetooth (latter is likely, former is less likely). Prices would be roughly same as today, or maybe slightly more (299/399)

Help!

The Beatles film HELP! comes out on DVD end of October finally rematered and restored. This is why I doubt the music will come now (iTunes or CDs). Since they don't want to compete with themselves, I think the music will come after the first of the year.

HELP:

The DVD will be a 2-disc set. Disc 1 will feature the original film digitally restored with a newly created 5.1 soundtrack, while Disc 2 contains an hour of extra features, including:

*The Beatles in Help! – 30 minute documentary about the making of the film with *Richard Lester, the cast and crew. Includes exclusive behind the scenes footage of *The Beatles on set.
*A Missing Scene – Featuring Wendy Richard
*The Restoration of Help! – An in depth look at the restoration process.
*Memories of Help! – The cast and crew reminisce
*Theatrical Trailers – 2 US trailers and 1 Spanish trailer.
*1965 US Radio Spots - Hidden in disc menus.
*There will be 2 editions of the DVD - a standard digipack and a deluxe boxed set that will contain a reproduction of Richard Lester's original annotated script, 8 lobby cards and a poster, plus a 60-page book with rarely seen photographs and production notes from the movie.

Both the deluxe book and the standard booklet feature an introduction by Richard Lester and an appreciation by Martin Scorsese.

I LOVE the Nano picture. It is something that I would buy and I think Steve would too! I am also exited for the iPod Touch (If any). But the picture for the iPod Touch is absolutely absurd! First of all, Apple and Universal, who made E.T.) are not best friends right now. Also, the fonts are all wrong for the iPod Touch thing. I think that it would be smart to stick with the fact that the poster is not of the iPod Touch. but, who knows. I better take some Ambien, because this person is NOT getting ANY sleep tonight. (What REAL Apple fan does the night before an Apple Event?):p

Well, I am all ready for the release of the ipod nano tomorrow! Hopefully it will be $150. I am so excited I haven't bought a new ipod in 2 years. I have the video, I got it when it came out. I am going to wait a week or so before I buy it. Just to see if there is any bugs. Yay! I am so excited!

I think it's gonna be $200 4gbs and $250 8gbs
