If Lion is app store download only, why is there a 'We'll be back soon' message in the Apple site if there isnt a hardware change?
Would the faster SSD drive have any impact on heat?
I just don't understand why Apple insist on 2GB only. Many people are saying that 2GB is not enough for Lion especially in combination with the Intel HD3000. Seriously.. it's very disappointing to buy a brand new and expensive computer in the second half of 2011 that comes with only 2GB. You can buy 8GB on Amazon for only $50. You can also find smartphones that come with 1GB already.. soon they will surpass the performance of our expensive toys.

4GB ram 'should' be standard - more so than any other aspect on this refresh, so it will be disappointing if 2GB ram has been maintained on the base model given every other mac seems to come with 4GB as standard including the mini (all bar the white macbook which if rumors are ever accurate will be phased out anyway).
I'm ready to order a new 11" - however I may go for 13" if the 11" base only has 2GB as I would certainly be upgrading both it and the SSD to 128 anyway.
This article mentions base speeds (1.6, 1.7, 1.8 GHz) from which we can deduce actual processor models (the earlier rumors were spot on):
(Spec comparison)
- i5 2467M - 1.6 .. 2.3 GHz - L3: 3 MB or i7 2657M - 1.6 .. 2.7 GHz - L3: 4 MB
- i7 2637M - 1.7 .. 2.8 GHz - L3: 4 MB
- i7 2677M - 1.8 .. 2.9 GHz - L3: 4 MB
The maximum Turbo clocks (in bold) are what matters here, I think they should have been emphasized in the article. Nowadays, base speeds are pretty much meaningless with SpeedStep and Turbo Boost.

Nice summary, be interesting if both 11 and 13 run the same cpus,
will the 11 now run hotter and louder?
I was really hoping for the option of 8 GBs of ram. I am willing to pay for it! Come on, Apple, take my money.
The 11" is going to have the 1.6 Core i5 standard. There's no way it'll run the Core i7 1.6, which is actually priced a little higher than the Core i7 1.7.
Upgrade the ram then? 2 GB will most likely be for the cheapest entry level model.
Amen. Actually making me question if I can do this. It would cost virtually no money and makes such a difference!
