I also have problems with my Scuba blue 42mm nylon band. Doesn't "click" in place. So it's going back.

So for those of you that have had problems, what is your take of the issue? Adapter plastic part not built to tolerance or the locking mechanism? It's a nice looking new band and unfortunately so many ones with issues weren't caught before shipping. I'm still thinking of ordering one and taking my chances since many haven't had these issues. Can you return to a store if you order online? I hate mailing things back.

I have 4....red/gold, Royal blue, pearl, and pink. While some are a little stiff going in, they all go in and lock. I just think they are new and will break in....people are always looking for what's wrong, they are fine...don't hesitate to buy. Thanks

The lugs/connectors on the nylon bands are made of plastic. I bet the issue is it's more difficult to manufacture them within a tight tolerance, really no different from the relatively poor fit and finish of the plastic iPhone 3G/3GS compared with metal or glass iPhones.

In summary, Apple need to partner with Lego and get on top of this.

I have different quality concerns. Just compare a new band to a band worn only twice:

I'm not seeing what the issue is? The band is conforming to your wrist. Of course there's going to be a slight bend where the buckle is. When people purposely go looking for defects they seem to find things that don't exist.

I have a Scuba Blue 42mm, takes a lot of effort to get it to lock. If people are having trouble, centre the band and try pushing it towards the watch to get it to click.

Goes in first try on a different watch of the same model, so must be some slight variance in manufacturing. Hopefully it gets sorted soon.

I'm not looking for problems. The long strap of my 38m scuba blue locks in fine, exactly as I'd expect. No amount of fiddling with the short strap makes it lock. I'd still not hesitate to order one, but know that it might be off.

No amount of fiddling will get my short strap to click. I've tried exactly what you describe, plus lots of other fiddling. Boo. It's gorgeous and I love it and it's going to have to be replaced.

Just been experimenting with mine/reading a Reddit thread. Have you tried pushing it firmly towards the watch when sliding it in? I just could not get mine to latch after I'd taken it off, but tried this method and it clicks in every time.

I'm also having issues putting the nylon band on and off my Gold Sport watch. It does not fit properly. It will need to go back to the store. It's a Pearl band.

Fair enough. I'd expect a bit better since I like my products looking brand new at all times, and in the Apple Store all the creases and bulges made the demo bands look cheaper than any of the other bands there.

I am so confused about your "problem"??!! Are your Nylon strap torn? Is color fading?

Does your shirt have wrinkles after you wear it? Do you iron your pants?

Have you complained to your shirt tailor that your shirt does not look like new from shelf after you wear it a few times?

What do you think nylon is?! It is not from planet Krypton!

Picked up the gold\red today and the mint green sport. Have to admit I'm not sold on the nylon. I don't like how the ends are plastic and so tight to fit in the watch. I can see them wearing down

I'm also having issues putting the nylon band on and off my Gold Sport watch. It does not fit properly. It will need to go back to the store. It's a Pearl band.

Just got back from the Apple Store. They exchanged the band I had purchased for another one. The "small" end is still pretty tight, but it's useable without feeling like I'm damaging the watch. The "long" end is relatively tight, but I think fits OK. I accidentally put it on upside-down and the it didn't lock into place at all. Interesting behavior.

They had a 42 Gold Sport with the Gold/Blue nylon band that looks pretty nice. I will have to order that one. They also had a 38 Gold Sport with the Gold/Red band. I'm not sold on that one.

I have a 3rd party black zulu (2-strap) nylon band and the band takes this shape. Same for leather bands if not on a deployment clasp. If this bothers you then guess your alternative is to return the nylons and just wear the metal or sport bands. Nothing wrong or poorly made or of poor construction here.

It won't - if you look at how the bands lock in, it's only possible one way up. As you slide it in, it pushes down a spring-loaded 'latch' which then locks in to the indent on the bottom side of the watch. When you press the button on the back, it fills this indent so the watch band can then move side to side freely.

There's nothing for the latch to lock into if you put it in upside down.

I did try that. No amount of fiddling with the shorter piece would make it connect. The longer end required a bit of fiddling, but it clicked right in, so I know how it "should" work. Bummer, but I already have my return slip and they said once it gets back to them my replacement would be expedited, so I shouldn't have to wait too long.

You're right -- they're definitely not poorly made. They're quality bands fairly priced. I was just a bit thrown-off by the bulging since it was unexpected.
