You would think cheaper material would mean cheaper price for the consumer. I guess not!
Unless you paid hundreds of dollars for your nylon band - ummm, it does mean that?

I also have problems with my Scuba blue 42mm nylon band. Doesn't "click" in place. So it's going back.

You don't understand what I mean. Other bands that are better made with higher quality materials, such as metal lugs, would expect to be in the same price range. Apple chose to use cheaper materials to make their new line of bands and they are are having quality control issues. Basically what I'm saying is $50 is crazy for a piece of nylon and plastic lugs, something that probably costs $1 to make. Although I guess the same can be said for all their bands, and I did get suckered in and bought the black nylon that I ultimately became extremely disappointed in. Wont make that mistake agin.
Just received my watch strap yesterday and the buckle side wouldn't slide into the watch. The other side fit perfect. WTH Apple! Over $50 for a buckle that doesn't even fit the watch. I would expect this from $20 3rd party straps from eBay.
My Pearl Nylon Band arrived today. The top band won't lock into place on my SS Watch. Apple support is pretty much useless (they wanted me to send in the band and my watch to process a replacement).
Why not just return it and then buy a new one?
That color isn't in stock. Otherwise I'd drop by the Apple Store and pick one up.
As people found when the watch released, if Apple doesn't have stock to sell they'll also be unlikely to have stock to replace.
Best thing is still to order a new one and return this, you'll get it just as quickly.
I had an unusual experience once I asked for better customer support. They're sending me a new band and I don't have to return the defective one. If it turns out that the band is going to take 1-2 weeks to arrive, I'll see what's in stock at the local Apple Stores.
If it arrives within two weeks, return (put the old one in the box) saying you don't like it and get another colour.
Was going to say this but the forum tends to lay the smackdown on things they consider unethical. I'm not saying I'm going to do this, and I'm not saying I'm not going to do this. Who knows?
It depends what they said. If they said "we want it back, just bin it" then that would be unethical. If they said "it's yours to keep, sorry for the trouble" it could be construed as a gift by way of apology for their perceived failures in customer service thus far.
There's a fine line I guess between doing what I said, which I consider acceptable (although obviously you need to still have the original packaging etc for it not to go into the second scenario -> ) and for example, breaking it yourself and then buying a new one and doing the switcharoo which clearly would be unethical.
I do accept others may have a different viewpoint and see them both as unethical but I think there's a subtle difference.
Apple said 'toss the defective band.' I actually offered to return it, but they said to just chuck it. I'll probably swap it for a new one - hopefully Apple will recycle the defective band. Win/win!
hmm. then maybe you should swap it. and maybe you shouldn't swap it. you probably shouldn't say which
It did seem that all the Aluminum watches worked fine in-store. We had problems with the SS watches. This is a real shame about the locking. I have now sent my Pearl back because it didn't lock. I might try buying one from a store, at least that way I can check it works.
Out of interest, it seems that it is mainly SS watches are the ones that aren't locking properly with the nylon bands.
