Unless you paid hundreds of dollars for your nylon band - ummm, it does mean that?

You don't understand what I mean. Other bands that are better made with higher quality materials, such as metal lugs, would expect to be in the same price range. Apple chose to use cheaper materials to make their new line of bands and they are are having quality control issues. Basically what I'm saying is $50 is crazy for a piece of nylon and plastic lugs, something that probably costs $1 to make. Although I guess the same can be said for all their bands, and I did get suckered in and bought the black nylon that I ultimately became extremely disappointed in. Wont make that mistake agin.

The sport band probably costs the same as the nylon band and is sold with a similar markup.

I probably don't understand what you mean because you're trying to compare apples and oranges. Apple doesn't sell any with metal lugs anywhere near the price of the nylon band.

My black nylon band is having the same issues. The longer side slides in and out a bit tight but not too problematic. The shorter side is extremely difficult to slide in and out. I feel like I'm going to tear the nylon off when I try to slide it out. Definitely taking it back to the Apple store. I was also a bit disappointed that the buckle is plastic. Cheapens my SS Apple Watch a bit. I am going to return this one, and try again with the Pearl version with a more aluminum-looking clasp. Hopefully it'll fit better.

Just received my watch strap yesterday and the buckle side wouldn't slide into the watch. The other side fit perfect. WTH Apple! Over $50 for a buckle that doesn't even fit the watch. I would expect this from $20 3rd party straps from eBay.

My Pearl Nylon Band arrived today. The top band won't lock into place on my SS Watch. Apple support is pretty much useless (they wanted me to send in the band and my watch to process a replacement).

Why not just return it and then buy a new one?

That color isn't in stock. Otherwise I'd drop by the Apple Store and pick one up.

As people found when the watch released, if Apple doesn't have stock to sell they'll also be unlikely to have stock to replace.

Best thing is still to order a new one and return this, you'll get it just as quickly.

I had an unusual experience once I asked for better customer support. They're sending me a new band and I don't have to return the defective one. If it turns out that the band is going to take 1-2 weeks to arrive, I'll see what's in stock at the local Apple Stores.

If it arrives within two weeks, return (put the old one in the box) saying you don't like it and get another colour.

Was going to say this but the forum tends to lay the smackdown on things they consider unethical. I'm not saying I'm going to do this, and I'm not saying I'm not going to do this. Who knows?

It depends what they said. If they said "we want it back, just bin it" then that would be unethical. If they said "it's yours to keep, sorry for the trouble" it could be construed as a gift by way of apology for their perceived failures in customer service thus far.

There's a fine line I guess between doing what I said, which I consider acceptable (although obviously you need to still have the original packaging etc for it not to go into the second scenario -> ) and for example, breaking it yourself and then buying a new one and doing the switcharoo which clearly would be unethical.

I do accept others may have a different viewpoint and see them both as unethical but I think there's a subtle difference.

Apple said 'toss the defective band.' I actually offered to return it, but they said to just chuck it. I'll probably swap it for a new one - hopefully Apple will recycle the defective band. Win/win!

Anyone elses Nylon band starting to fray around the buckle holes and sides?

It's only a few short strands here and there but It's worrying me, it's not like I've worn it for months.

I'm going to return the black nylon band I bought for my space gray watch.

It seems to be well made, but I've only had it for 4 days. I have other reasons.

- It's too narrow, without the tapered look of the sports band. It didnt bother me at first, but after a few days, it has.

- I actually find the sports band more comfortable. There's been times when wearing the sports band, I've had to check my wrist to make sure my watch is still there. It's so comfortable. I'm more "aware" of the watch with the Nylon band. I think part of that is the sizing -- one hole is too loose, the next hole is too tight. Can't get a perfect fit.

- The band itself is too short. I have a small wrist, but only have a few holes left to tuck into the strap. Not a huge deal, but it look strange.

- I wouldn't exercise with it. Takes too long to dry and I'd be worried about sweat stains. I typically hit the gym during my lunch hour at work -- and I don't want to mess with swapping bands in addition to clothes and shoes.

If I were going to keep it, it would be to wear on weekends or days when I know I'm not going to the gym. Can't justify the $50 for that usage case.

Now I still like the idea of a nylon band, and will probably check out a 3rd party alternative in a few months when they have the chance to catch up, for hopefully half the price.

Managed to get a Pearl woven from an Apple store this a.m. :) After missing out on one early last week, I've been checking the website each day and off and on today since the store's 9 am opening. Should know later today about the fit. I really like the look from the photos people have posted (thanks for those). Also appreciate the heads up on the fit issues. Figure I'd just start off with one color.

This location had the gold/red and pink in stock since yesterday and added the scuba and the pearl this morning. Not sure if what they got in in Pearl was just this one box or whether others came in and were spoken for and I really got lucky, but after buying it, they were no longer showing stock. So they really do fly off the shelves pretty fast. Reserving it for pick up online seemed the best way to go.

Went to the Apple Store and tried three Scuba Nylon bands - they all had the exact same problem. Some worked with their demo watches, some didn't. Seems like a pretty serious design or manufacturing flaw. The band that did work (wrong color) had 'made in China' on the plastic connector. The others didn't.

This is a real shame about the locking. I have now sent my Pearl back because it didn't lock. I might try buying one from a store, at least that way I can check it works.

Out of interest, it seems that it is mainly SS watches are the ones that aren't locking properly with the nylon bands.

It did seem that all the Aluminum watches worked fine in-store. We had problems with the SS watches.

Reporting back on the newly acquired 42mm Pearl woven (On AW SS). Everything people have said about the weight is true. Super light and comfy! LOVE IT. Can see why people are saying they have bought a few colors already. These are NOTHING like the traditional nylon NATO/Zulu watch bands.

So, the short band slid in easily enough and locked right away. Long side -- not quite as easy of a slide in or out with this strap, familiar comment, but not bad and it did lock. Happy camper. This will be especially great in our hot summers. The adapters -- no gaps and perfect flush alignment. Photo below may look like it extends outward on the left side a bit but it's just the camera angle BTW. I probably would have preferred a polished stainless buckle to match my watch case finish but I'm OK with this. Probably won't show scratches the buckle will inevitably get from tables and keyboards with this finish. I'm not bothered at all by the colored plastic adapter.

More photos tomorrow in better lighting. I think it looks slimming on my wrist. It's interesting how the band's wavy vertical line striping pattern takes on a difference appearance of more of a needlepoint pattern when viewed at a distance.

Decided to post my morning daylight photos under the Apple Watch section. If you're interested in the Pearl nylon band, here's the link: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/show-off-your-apple-watch.1872015/page-256#post-22770548

Since I'm reading that some have problems with the short buckle strap, others with the long strap, some are aluminum sport owners and others are SS AW owners and as no one has really had problems with adapters on other Apple bands designs, I'm thinking the problem lies in the adapter (plastic adapter or possibly the black bumpers?). Worth the effort IMO to get a well fitting one.
