The gold/blue nylon that came with my gold aluminum sport watch has a bit of trouble with the short (buckle side) locking. Same issue on both the gold sport and my silver stainless steel watch. I CAN get it to lock, but I have to torque the angle at which the band lug sits just a bit. Once I figured it out, I can get it to lock every time. This is a real shame about the locking. I have now sent my Pearl back because it didn't lock. I might try buying one from a store, at least that way I can check it works.
Out of interest, it seems that it is mainly SS watches are the ones that aren't locking properly with the nylon bands.
I agree the buckle does feel plastic, oddly the packaging claims that it is stainless steel? My black nylon band is having the same issues. The longer side slides in and out a bit tight but not too problematic. The shorter side is extremely difficult to slide in and out. I feel like I'm going to tear the nylon off when I try to slide it out. Definitely taking it back to the Apple store. I was also a bit disappointed that the buckle is plastic. Cheapens my SS Apple Watch a bit. I am going to return this one, and try again with the Pearl version with a more aluminum-looking clasp. Hopefully it'll fit better.
Probably hollow.I agree the buckle does feel plastic, oddly the packaging claims that it is stainless steel?

Interesting turn of events. Apple is replacing both my Watch and my Nylon band with a new Watch and a new Nylon band (retail packaging - swapping at store). They want to see if the problem is with the Watch, the band or both.

I purchased the Watch at launch BTW.

Yeah I have two nylon bands and they are my favorites now. They feel so good I sometimes forget I'm wearing my watch!I've now purchased all 7 colors of the nylon bands for my 38mm SS. Only one - the Gold/Red - seems to be having this issue. I think I am going to exchange it, as I don't want to damage my watch. (It does lock, but it takes a lot of force to remove the long part of the strap.)
The other color combos all work well, and the comfort level of the band has fast become my favorite.
I noticed for the 42 that every nylon band has 4-6 week shipping. Is there really that high a demand? Or could there be any relation to the quality of the fit? Friend of mine has gone through 3 straps so far, all of them sliding too easily and never latching with his Watch.
Plus I noticed some colors that were recently in stock in my local store aren't available now. Looks like they pulled them.
I purchased the pearl color for my SS a few days after the launch for in store pickup. Had the same issue where it couldn't click in. I called Apple to see how we could sort it out without having to take it back as I couldn't make it back to the store. Didn't matter cause the store was out of them already. I took the band back about a week later, got a refund, and hours later Apple shipped me another pearl band by mistake. I got it, called them to make sure they don't mark it as stolen (and they charged my CC after I alerted them to the mistake).
Anyway, the replacement band (in retail box) has been working great since then. My only issue is the white outline is turning red. This band has been a mess and I think I'm just going to send it back for a refund. I'll probably buy another sport band (I love them). It looks too much like a cheap Milanese Loop knock off.
What's causing it to turn red? Could you post some photos, I have my eye on that band. So far I have the gold\red one and I did notice a blue stain on mine but I figured I picked something up, it wiped off

There is a difference in colors of "Pearl" between the adapter and nylon just because the materials absorb and reflect light differently. I don't think your band edging looks discolored but it's either the lighting shading (maybe camera too) but the recesses of the threads do look different. The top of the thread looks whitish however. Pearl, like real ones, does have a sometimes pinkish cast. It's not a white like the white sport band however. And neither is the adapter.
I have noticed and commented under a different thread that in incandescent light at night my band edging looks pinkish. Take the band outside in the morning sunlight and it's whitish again. Instead of linking which makes it hard to show off the coloring I'll post the photos here to illustrate.

The packaging says the Buckle is SS. Didn't see anything in any packaging about the adapter material.
My replacement 38mm Blue Scuba should be here today! Here's hoping it works.
The shipping times for these really make me suspect that they have stopped shipment and reworked the size of the connector to fix the problem. I really want to be able to get the black nylon, but it has not been in stock in store... And Shipping went from 2-3 weeks on Monday to 4-6 weeks on today.
