Sounds like a win win situation
Super interesting topic. Went to the Apple Store for a Watch and Nylon Band replacement. First watch had the Nylon Bands locked in place, but once removed, they did not lock back into place. Second watch everything works as expected. Both were new Watches (not white boxes). Apple 'captured' both (my watch and the first replacement) to see what's going on.

So you bought the watch with the nylon band after the recent new band release? Or the nylon bands were replacements for the band that came with your original watch?

Series of events:

Had a 42mm SS Apple Watch since launch. Purchased with a black classic buckle.

Bought Pearl Nylon band after it was announced.

Nylon band arrived and wouldn't lock in place.

Called Apple about the problem - a replacement was sent.

Went to Apple Store to try the bands there (before replacement arrived). Went through four bands, none of which would lock into place.

Emailed Tim Cook. Apple called me and wanted to examine the watch. I expressed that I didn't want to send my watch in.

Apple setup an appointment for today to have my watch and replacement band replaced in-store with a completely new watch and band (retail box).

First retail box (42mm SS), nylon band wouldn't latch after removing.

Second retail box (42mm SS), nylon band latched correctly.

My watch, the nylon band and the first retail box watch were sent back to Apple for the team to diagnose the problem (which appears to be both watch and band tolerance issues).

Thank you! It will be interesting to see what they have to say when I stop in at the GB tomorrow.

My black nylon band will be here today. Hopefully it will work as well as my pearl nylon band. Will report any issues here, once I've had a chance to try it.

Hopefully when they become available again they will work. But why on Earth weren't these tested properly, it is obvious from this thread that there is a real issue with these bands, and it seems the SS is particularly prone to not locking.

Thankfully Apple have a terrific returns policy, so I can't really complain since it hasn't cost me anything to return my faulty band, but it must surely be costing Apple quite a bit.

My black nylon band was just delivered. It fits perfectly and works exactly as expected. I have two bands (pearl and black), and both con nect and engage exactly as expected - identically to the way the sport bands and Milanese loop bands work.

I have read that some are having issues with these bands, but so far, my experience is 100% positive.

Just picked up a black nylon strap and the buckle side wouldn't lock into place. After about 6 attempts it did. SS 42mm purchased end April last year. I'll keep an eye on it as every other strap I have (4 sport straps and the bright blue LL) all lock perfectly first time.

I see it says UK... so it might not be the same here in the US.... but.. Did your Apple store show stock online? Here they show sold out of everything in store... I was hoping to get lucky and find one tomorrow.

Didn't show stock available for pickup. 2 weeks for ship to store. My store didn't have any out on show so I just asked. They checked stock and said they had most of the new straps "out the back in the secure secure area". Took a while for him to get it but I was v surprised.

If you're looking to get a 42mm black nylon, you might be able to get one online. Even though it says 4-6 weeks delivery, I ordered one yesterday and it shipped today.

Just to follow up my own experience in #134, I woke up this morning and disconnected both parts of my nylon strap from my watch, and reattached both with no issue. The buckle side clipped in and locked without fuss. Disconnected another couple of times and reconnected, again without fuss. Strange.

Received today my Black Nylon. Ordered yesterday, received today. Shipping to Portugal.
Small part does not click secure. One more not good... (42mm SS)

I received my Royal Blue strap today ... ordered about three weeks ago. The only way I can get the buckle end to lock into place is if I apply a significant amount of downward pressure while its sliding into place. And it still take a few tries at that. This'll be going back. Too bad, it's a nice band.

Today received my black nylon band. Fits perfectly on Space Grey Sport Model and also no problem with the buckle or whatsoever. Feels much better than this plastic stuff.

Received my scuba blue yesterday after weeks of waiting. Shipped straight from China, seems like maybe they implemented a fix and are shipping ASAP. Band locks into my watch better than I've ever seen any other band lock before!

I received my Royal blue band from Target and it works perfect. The band is so comfortable that I bought the scuba blue band a few days later when I saw it in stock at the Apple Store. Both bands work perfect for me.

Just got a replacement for my black nylon band from Apple, the connectors on this one seem to fit onto my watch better and aren't as tight and the previous band.

Update on my Scuba Blue 38mm saga. Just went in and tried my third band. First band - the short end connected but not the long band. Sent that back and waited two weeks for replacement. Second band - neither band connected. So, I went in and had a genius bar replacement. Went to pick up that band today and the short end connected but not the long end again. Tried it on the associate's 38mm stainless (I have a sport) and both ends connected fine. Tried it on another associate's 38mm sport - same issue as mine.

They're going to hold any Scuba Blue 38mms that they get in for me. We hope they'll get at least two in and I can come in and try until we get one that fits. She went and talked to the inventory people and they said this is becoming a known issue. They report that the nylon bands are coming into the store slowly so they have no idea when they will get more in.

So, still no Scuba Blue for me!

Received Scuba Blue 42mm from online apple store after 2 weeks waiting. The buckle side(short end) strap still unable lock my 42mm SS.

This makes me nervous! I just got the call that the store had received a couple bands and they're holding them for me. I'm going in the morning to try them out...

Good Lucky. I gonna return it and give up all the apple nylon band after I tried 3 Scuba Blue, 2 royal blue and 1 Gold/Red.

White Leather Loop and Milanese Loop is working fine on my SS 42mm

This will likely be my last try. I've tried three already, but I'm only out my drive if it doesn't work this time. They said they have two, so I'm really hoping one will work.
