I have the toxic smell fold-back trigger problem ver1. How do you fix the trigger? The toxic smell has lessened but is still there.

I then got all 3 of the v2s $14 sale and they did not have the toxic smell or the fold-back trigger problem. The packages were different like noted from the v1 package. I'm done buying iPad2 cases.

I do wonder if the leather is the same. v2 seems slippyer than v1 but maybe it changes with some use. I get a lot of + comments when I slip on the red one.

Yoobao Case Alignment

Just a quick note about the Yoobao iPad 2 case. I think they should have made the fold-in flap a little longer. It seems over a period of time, the iPad slides a little which causes it not to exactly line up with the cutouts. Once it's pushed back in again, it's fine. I put a strip of double backed tape on the flap and it holds the iPad in place while the tape is hidden under the flap. That did the trick.

I have both a black and red version 2 (I wanted to compare colours first :p) and I'm not happy with either.

Both have a slight smell to them which is most definitely not the leathers fault, and while a good airing in the garden has lessened the problem it hasn't completely gone away.

The red case uses an inferior leather to the black (which is OK but still not fantastic). The feel is just not right. Also the microfibre on my red case is a lot worse then the one on the black.

The ports on either case don't like up correctly (access is OK, but nothing is centred)

The inside stitching is a bit....iffy. It just seems sharp in places which would worry me if I didn't have a good quality screen protector on the iPad.

All-in-all they are acceptable but I think there are probably better options for the price.

Both cases going back this week.

I think I just figured out how this yoobao gang stays on top of the threads so much. I just got a letter from them saying if I would post that I love the case on amazon and other places that would refund 100% of what I paid...that's one way to market a product....

Unfortunately for them, I don't care about the money and it's a run of the mill case...a dime a dozen....

Two weird coincidences:

I'm from Lauderdale too, and AYL offered me the same deal (EDIT: in a different way, as a gesture of kindness, see below -- and after I received a replacement case, the original didn't line up). I accepted their offer.

Personally, I think Yoobao looks great:

This is a quote from an article from a couple of years ago: (http://consumerist.com/2009/04/upda...out-pay-to-play-reviews-promises-changes.html)

Amazon considers "Pay for Play" a violation of a third-party seller's terms of service, so sales of the Anti-Snore have been suspended. I reviewed those terms, and they say: "Furthermore, any attempt to manipulate ratings of any participant is prohibited, please note that this also includes posting ratings to your own account." Right on!

Paying reviewers for a good review is a lousy idea, and calls into question the whole idea of relying on reviews to get feedback about products. It may go on alot, but that doesn't make it right.

Note added by forum administrator:
The Amazon Review Guidelines permit vendors to give away free products in exchange for reviews. Reviews from the Vine program for pre-release products are automatically flagged as being in that program. In other cases, such as this one, it's the responsibility of the reviewer to "clearly and conspicuously disclose" that they received the product for free. AYL told us they participate as specified by Amazon, pick the customers at random, and don't specify what kind of feedback must be posted.

They didn't tell me to write a 5 star review and I would get it for free though.

I told them I ordered my case hours before it switched to $14 (from $33) and asked if they would price match it, and told them I am pleased with the replacement (original had alignment issues) and was in the process of writing up an excellent review for their service and quality of the case, and they told me they would just comp my case for the inconvenience and that they appreciated the review and wanted a link of what I posted for reference. I wouldn't crucify them for their kindness

Not exactly the same (IMO) as what you mentioned.

Now if they approached me out of the blue and said, we will compensate you 100% but only if you write nothing but good things about us, then I could see how that is ethically problematic.

And I can't speak for the other person's experience...

I've scouted around for other cases and I still don't see any others as thin and that meet my needs as well as the Yoobao. The Maroo is probably a close second just from research but I don't like how its just a clip thing on the four corners (looks tacky) of the front and it seems like it adds unnecessary bulkiness (the likelihood of dropping an iPad is much less than an iPhone, and if I do drop it, I'm likely on the couch or somewhere where it can take a fall without damage)

I got what was supposed to be a V2. It smells and the magnet that's supposed to turn off the screen does not line up properly. I have to pull the cover a smidge in order for it to work. NOT happy at all.

I got my replacement for my case that had a giant dent in the front cover. This one's on/off feature is very flakey. I almost have to slam the front case down every time to get it to sleep. I'll probably email to see what they can do, but I have a feeling from the other comments here is that this case is just not that great.

No kidding. AYL have been super responsive whenever I've contacted them. I sincerely doubt they're sending V1 cases out on purpose.

....sigh....

So what's the phone number to contact these whackjobs and get a replacement?

New version 2 arrived. The smartcover feature not only does not work...but it will randomly turn the iPad on/off when it's sitting on the desk...not a good way to keep the battery life going.

So how do I get ahold of these assclowns?

Even when shoved into the case as far as it will go my headphone jack is still misaligned so version 2 is no guarantee of a quality fit. Also I agree, the flap is too short to hold the iPad firmly. It's not going to fall out by any means, but it still is loose enough to slide around and cause port misalignment.

The form factor is great, and I imagine v3 or v4 will be great cases for the money.

Got my V2 (full rack rate paid) today. Magnets line up fine, headphone jack is a c-hair misaligned but I'll deal.

Smells like condensed Briwax - luckily I don't live in Cali or it might cause me cancer ;) I think I can live with the 2 teeny shortcomings as I like it a lot more overall than my $70 Apple smart-cover.

I'm waiting for them to come down in price again.

You can get them on the chinese web sites for less...I'd like one, but I'm not in a rush. I have a red first generation and fixed the hibernation problem with a small piece of metal on the inside rear cover, works like a charm. Just which I had not ordered red! What was I thinking!

I knew someone would comment. Just moved, it's a work in process haah.

After 3 weeks.

Mine is just OK

Likes:

1) Leather Feels good

2) Thin and not bulky

3) Looks good

Dislikes:

1) Doesn't always fold all the way over far enough to engage the magnets to auto shutoff the screen.

2) I wish it had a positive closure - a latch or strong enough magnets

Both your dislikes were addressed in the revision 3 Yoobao. Kinda crazy that it took 3 versions of this case, but it's still the best case.

I got this case a around two weeks ago. Made sure I got version as I contacted Amazon and asked which version they have in stock.

I love this case just for the fact that it's slim adding hardly any bulk to the iPad. I previously used the Switcheasy Canvas and that was a good case but I felt it was too bulky when using it in portrait mode.

The Yoobao obviously doesn't offer as much protection as the Switcheasy Canvas but that's a compromise of having a slim light case. I can also keep this case on when using the Incase Origami Workstation which is a plus.

The new Yoobao iMagic case has a latch the case is really nice. The latch holds great so its good to toss in a bag without worrying about it opening. The downside is the the iPad doesn't stay in the lowest landscape position. The other 2 higher landscape angles work perfect and the typing position is perfect. but a great case non the less
