Got my three $14 ver2 Yoobaos, (red, bl, br) via USPostal, very happy with them. They don't smell anywhere near like my toxic version 1 black did. mine fit fine, and holes line up okay. the tuck flap seems 'weaker' or looser than my ver1 black flap, but it may be that the ver1 had molded to the iPad and fit better with some use.

Sleep/wake is improved on the ver2 also. I could not get it to fault in closing mode or when all the way open on back, but I did only a few quick tests. The ver1 faults immediately and often. I have not opened the ver 2 black I got. I thought I'd really like the brown color, it's okay, but I like the brick red better, and the black has always been a nice executive look.

For a full coverage thin folio cover, in leather, I think this ver2 Yoobao can't be beat, even at full price.

Got a replacement case from AYL yesterday as my 1st one had misalignment of the mic/headphone ports.

The replacement had the Chinese lettering on the top flap of the box and the 3 color symbol on the bottom right side of the box. However, it doesn't have any smell (my first one didn't either), the alignment is better (though still not perfect, but I'm okay with it) and, surprisingly, much better sleep/wake functionality.

I didn't realize that the sleep/wake on my first one didn't work well until I had this second one to compare it with. Neither one had any issues with folding the cover over to the back. But, I realized now that the first one didn't sleep/wake the iPad 100% of the time. I'd say it worked 75% of the time, but I just assumed that was normal. My replacement, however, really does work 100% of the time.

Overall, I'm really satisfied with the replacement. Also, AYL has been GREAT throughout in terms of their communication, the speed with which they sent out a replacement (USPS Priority Mail...reached me in two days) and their willingness to credit me back the difference in price between what I paid and when they lowered their price briefly to $14 + shipping.

BTW, I'm pretty sure AYL monitors this forum and these threads so they can gain some insight into some of the issues/non-issues people are having.

I think so too but there's nothing wrong with that.
They have good customer service from what I can tell and that's better than most companies today.

Yeah, I didn't mean that in any negative sense.

Forgot to mention that I'm not sure the whole 1st revision/Chinese characters vs. 2nd revision/English characters holds true.

Lastly, I think my search for the perfect iPad 2 case is (finally!) over.

Got my replacement.

It lines up well.

I think the only way to tell if you have a revision 1 is if it smells toxic as some reviewers describe.

Neither my original nor my replacement exhibit this.

I received my rev 2 this morning. Great fitting case - everything seems to line up very well although I think I would like to see a slightly bigger opening for the microphone - I haven't had a chance to test and compare recording levels yet so this may be a non issue.
I do notice the bottom of the cutout for the rear camera is close to the lens and this has no impact on still shots but video shots with a light background do show a very slight shadowing at the very bottom of the video clip in portrait. It's not easy to notice but I looked hard for it after noticing how close the cut out was. I think I would cut this away slightly too.
The final thing I want to check is the dock connector at the bottom and how this accepts the AV Digital adaptor and other dock cables - the front cover of the case may be a tight squeeze for larger connectors. I hope to test this case fully out tonight so I'll feedback.
Otherwise this is probably my favourite iPad 2 case and will be a keeper provided testing works out well.

I purchased my case from AYL on Amazon (fulfilled by Amazon). Mine arrived yesterday and all the holes line up quite well. Microphone jack is slightly off.

My main problem is the white stitching in one of the corners is ripped. I probably will want to exchange it.

For those that requested an exchange, how did you contact AYL? I sent an email through Amazon's website, but have not received a response yet. Not sure if I can contact them directly?

Thanks.

I have a question, whenever I pick up my case holding the lower left corner it clicks on and off, much like its sleeping. I assume this means it has awakened at some point?

I thought I liked this case but now not so sure. Its not turning on and off when its folded back, I assume i have a rev 2 case or at least thought I did.

Well you know what Steve would say "Don't hold it like that".
All kidding aside, you're probably causing the cover to move when you grab it there and thus turning on the iPad.
I just tried picking it up in the lower left corner on mine and I don't have any issues.

Anyone else experiencing a kind of "greased up" feeling on their fingertips after using this case? Feels like something is covering the skin.

I've got the Rev.2 version of the case.

Received replacement for the original version

I am impressed with the new version of this case and even more so with AYL's customer care. They have truly gone the extra mile to keep the customer happy for initial mistake with one of their products.

After reading the thread on the original version I wanted to give that case a try and ordered from Amazon. I was very happy with the case in every other aspect except for the strong chemical odour. I did not have the auto sleep/wake problem some have reported here. Based on that thread, I figured the intensity of the smell varied from case to case and of course different people have different tolerance levels.

After about a month the odour faded away somewhat but not to my liking so I decided to write to AYL. Kay from AYL responded very quickly assuring that the case would be replaced with a new version at no extra cost to me. At the time of original order, shipping to Canada was not offered and therefore I had to make arrangements with relatives in Ohio to receive and mail it again to me. I mentioned this to AYL and requested that the replacement be shipped to me directly in Canada since this arrangement was inconvenient, costly and time consuming. AYL agreed without any issues.

I received the replacement new version case yesterday and after less than a day of use it appears every bit as great as the first one minus the odour.

I am one happy customer.:) For me this this case is excellent value, very well made and functional. Couldn't ask for a better one for $40! For example Belkin Slim Folio sold at Best Buy for the same price is a very inferior product.

AYL has very good customer service, but Yoobao has major QC issues. I received my replacement case from AYL a few days ago. This one doesn't have the horrible chemical smell that the first one had, but it has an odd shiny coating over it. Hard to explain. Has a more tacky feeling to the touch.

Also, on the upper right hand corner, they skipped a space with the stitching, so there is one large stitch that should have been two. It's very noticeable. Since AYL didn't ask for the first case back, I guess I am stuck with two black Yoobao cases that I don't want.

Unless AYL sends a carrier out to pick up these cases, I can't be bothered returning them for a refund, so I'll be tossing them both in the garbage.

Jeez, a stitch and a shine.......and I thought I was picky.

My 3 Yoobao ver 2s are all very nice. not trash at all, some of the nicest slim clean cases for the iPad2.

Got mine from eBay yesterday. The description clearly state it's version 2.

But it just stinks (like v1). No leather smell at all. However, it doesn't lock when I flip the front cover on the back.

How can I check whether it's v1 or not?

Man these guys are still shipping these things with the toxic odor, wow I thought this was all resolved.

You know for what its worth I got one of the first ones from AYL.

They refunded me totally and didn't want it back, so I have it, and have used it occasionally, but don't primarily because of the back flap issue.

Now that I know how to fix it, I might end up using it more.

Point is, the toxic smell that was once there is no longer present, it does go away, whatever it is seems to just dissipate in time.

If you like the case, just give it some time, especially if you got it for 14 bucks! Thats a great deal! Would love to get one in black for that price, smell or no smell!

I would say you got version 1 if it smells that bad. The first one I bought from AYL had a very strong chemical smell so I returned it (AYL sent me a free return postage label). The second one was 100% better. Just a faint leather smell. That's it. I really didn't notice any packaging differences between version 1 and version 2 but that's not to say there isn't any.
