Trackpad/mouse support surely must be the ‘one last thing...’ part of the product unveiling.
Microsoft Surface has a detachable keyboard with trackpad/mouse support.
So does the recently announced Google Slate.
(Ok Amazon Fire doesn’t, but it’s firmly aimed at the budget/casual end of the tablet market)
If this year’s iPad Pro is announced without this support, it’s going to be very puzzling.
And P.S. I know that the iPad Pro is way more touch-centric than the above devices.
The point though is that they are competitors and even though each have their flaws...
(Slate can’t seem to decide if it’s best for running packaged web apps or if it’s an android replacement & Windows is still an unholy mess full of legacy UI that barely qualifies as being fit to sit on a tablet)
... They are pushing forward with the pc replacement thing whereas Apple has been curiously holding back on this now.
Surely it’s now time to let the iPad grow into a new direction.
