With what the Note 5 and Moto are bringing.......Sony better step it up BIG for any of their phones to make it on my radar.
They better have it available in all markets with no carrier exclusives this time around.

Hope they do better than the Z3+ | Z4

If it's a flagship they likely have just killed the forementioned sales wise very early in its lifespan.

I like my Z3 better than LG and Samsung smartphones that sell better but does sales really matter?

To their bottom line it does. Their mobile division has not been doing well and the aforementioned Z3+/Z4 haven't exactly helped set sales alight.

Certainly I think my Z3 is an awesome phone too, but even in Europe Sony generally is not really pulling flagship sales momentum from likes of Samsung.

Which is a shame. The Z3+/Z4 was a misstep and likely a costly one.

Hoping this is the Z5 but most likely will be one of their mid range phones.

Love Sony phones but their cameras are the worst. Also their screens are extra fragile and render the phone useless upon the slightest crack.

"Sony announces...blah blah blah..."
I'd be interested in possibly buying a current Sony offering, but these announcements mean nothing in Canada.
The Xperia Z4 phone, the Xperia Z4 tablet...
Where/when I buy one?
By the time you may be able to get one here there is another newer model close on the horizon.
I'm talking about unlocked phones BTW.
I'd like to to like Sony. Phones/Tablets look interesting. But they never actually seem to be available here for purchase unlocked (till they're yesterday's news, anyway).
Too bad, I'd be interested.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
If those Z5 photos are real I find them a little disappointing as it was expected they would be changing the design. Plus not sure about that volume rocker placement.

Hmm if the normal sized iPhone 6S has OIS and a much improved camera then I think it would be a better option, it will definitely be better if Sony use the 810 Snap Dragon for these phones, and likewise if they use Mediatek processors.

Then again... If the Z5 Compact has the Snap Dragon 820 which is can do as they have been shipped to manufactures like Sony to use in designing handsets, and it has their new camera sensor with OIS and a decent screen, plus the rumoured metal build then it could be a very interesting handset and a potential iPhone killer.

Biggest issue I find with the placement of the fingerprint reader is quite simple .... left-handed users are fecked!

They've clearly designed it to be in the right position if you were holding the device in the right hand as it would allow your thumb to rest exactly on it.

Actually the volume buttons now being where they are would make holding it in your left hand a big pain because your fingers would be tipping off them too leaving nowhere to grip the device comfortably. Your small finger would be tapping off the camera button. It's a mess.

Bad ergonomics for at least 10% of the buyers.

I thought left-handed people were just an internet rumour...

So the compact will again be thicker than the bigger phone, I think the Z1 Compact looked the best out of there small phones so far?
Looks like they have bumpers on them? But the edges show otherwise, they don't look as nice a design? Obviously judging by these poor quality and possibly fake photos.

Yeah, people complain about the scanner being on the front but at least lefties and righties can use it then! That is a daft thing placing it on one side, everyone will naturally want to use their opposable thumbs.... :)

Am I the only one who thinks that this should be called the Z6? I mean think about it. Z, Z1, Z2, Z3, Z3+...That would make this the sixth.
