What a fun gear-headed thread idea!
1. Another 250GB LaCie D2 Extreme drive for audio recording.
2. Alesis is about to release the
MultiMix 16 FireWire , which is a really intriguing prospect. It's an audio mixer with 8 mic channels, 4 stereo line channels, and a built-in FireWire audio interface. It can send each channel independently to the computer for recording. It's $500; I don't feel I could afford $1175 for the Mackie Onyx 1620 plus FireWire add-on. When the manuals are available for the Alesis, I'm going to evaluate it very eagerly.
3. Multi-button/scroll BlueTooth mouse? I'll have to find one I like better than the ones I've seen so far.
4. An iPod that can record uncompressed (at least) 16bit/44.1KHz audio from a microphone or line input. Oh, yeah, they don't make one.
5. Hard to say whether #5 will be a DV camcorder or a new Apple portable. If the latter, I'm still debating which one.
But then lately I'm thinking a nice vacation ought to rank more highly in my plans and budget. I sure love Brazilian music . . .
