Intel iBook(hopefully 13.3" with a core duo and dedicated graphics chip, if I cant get this in the iBook hopefully theyll have a MacBook Pro with specs like this)

Apple Mighty Mouse

Sleeve for Intel iBook

Microsoft Word 2005 Student Teacher Edition

JBL Creature Speakers

It's always fun to see topics re-emerge from the depths of the forums... so here's an updated list (or a list to begin with since I refused to make myself dream when I posted months ago)

1. Westinghouse 19" Widescreen LCD
2. Apple Bluetooth Keyboard
3. iCurve
4. 1GB SO-DIMM for my PowerBook
5. An engagement ring for my girlfriend of 3 years thrown somewhere in there.

I'll be moving back home for the summer (a hellish 4 month period) and I'll be working back at my prior job which treated me quite well with money. First I am saving up $2000 for an appartment I'm getting next year and then I'll be moving on with the rest! :)

3. another external HD case and Seagate 200GB HD

1. G5 PowerMac. Preferrable something cheaper than $2000. Like a new single 2.0GHz, or dual core.

2. 2GB of RAM for it to add to the 512MB.

3. Second hard drive. ~300-500GB.

4. An iPod mini if it can do voice recording. Otherwise, a regular iPod with a bunch of accessories.

5. A new camcorder. The Sony HD ones look nice, but a bit expensive for what I need. Maybe just one in the ~$1,000 range that doesn't suck. External microphone, long battery life, and top loading tapes are musts.
So I actually bought an iMac, added 2GB of RAM, external 300GB hard drive (soon to be 2), a shuffle, and a ROKR. Would have liked to have a new mini, but Apple replaced it with the nano, which I didn't need after getting the shuffle, and I don't really like the full size iPod (no fw and no way to connect an iTalk).

Still want to get a PowerMac, but I'll probably wait until the Intel version now. Or Rev 2. By then hopefully Adobe will have UB apps. Still need a new camcorder, but I picked up a cheap one from eBay. Old models have more features than the newer ones.

Just a bit of fun, why not list the next 5 computer related purchases you'd like to or going to buy. Here are mine:

  • SONY HandyCam HC22
    - I've been looking at DV Cams, and this is small and good quality, it's reasonably inexpensive.
  • KODAK C330
    - Our digital camera just broke, it was afterall nearly 4 years old though. It served us well but now my family has decided to go separate ways. Mum'll buy something a little more expensive I imagine, whereas I'm going to go for this 4MP 3x Optical simple camera.
  • SONY Ericsson K750i
    - My Phone contract just ran out so its time for a new one. I need to choose a phone and I'm leaning towards the K750i. Not only does it sync fully with iSync, but it plays MP3s (for when I don't have my iPod on me) and best of all has a fairly decent 2MP camera!
  • Canon PIXMA IP4000R
    - I've been looking for a Wireless printer (this is WiFi, not Bluetooth) for some time and I recently tried this one out in PC World. It's really fantastic quality (enough for me anyway) and is sleek in black. As people who know me will know, I HATE cables, having a wireless printer is perfect.
  • New iBook
    - When Apple decide to release the New iBooks, I'll be bloody happy. I wish ThinkSecret would stop reporting things, as I feel Apple is trying to destroy TS's credibility by reading its rumours and then doing the complete opposite. Whatever spec this may be, I want one.

Haha, I forgot all about my thread! 22 July 2005! Wow...

So off that list I bought the iBook and the phone and am still happily using them. We also got a new printer, although it's at home and I'm in Uni. I have an iSight now and have had an airport express and sold it since I wrote that list!

Currently I'm completely happy with my mac situation.. it's like having an internal battle squashed. (Well.. ok then, more ram and another hard disk sure..).

1. Train ticket to Manchester to visit the new store when it opens.

2. Shuffle, not decided which one.

3. Something to rest my iBook on my lap, at the moment I put it on a book.

4. Camera, probably a Canon.

5. Earphones to replace the £3.99 from Tesco ones.

Skubish,

That's an awesome deal. I'm pretty sure it's still $150 for the Student/Teacher edition at UNF, is your version that or the standard? I'd really like to get a copy for cheap. One of the guys I work with actually got a copy from his brother's college for $7.

Doesn't sound legal, unless he's a student. However, many universities have a pool license and give away free MS Office licences to their students (which doesn't mean that all their relatives are allowed to use it, too ;-)).

Dreaming....

1 - 13.3" MacBook Pro (if they make one), fully loaded with all the goodies

2 - 23" Apple Cinema Display

3 - A new iPod, would be a 60GB 5G at the mo but would get a bigger one if it came out. Only interested in playing music on it though so wouldn't want the rumored Video one.

4 - Hercules DJ Concole and Traktor Studio 3 bundle

5 - Some REALLY expensive headphones

1. MacBook Pro 2Ghz/1Gb/100Gb
2. 30" ACD so my PMG5 Dual 2.7 gets twin 30s.
3. Sony FX1 HDV Camera
4. New Mac Mini - to update the one in my car
5. Another one for the lounge. :D

all happening over the summer.

1: Bose Quietcomfort 2 headphones

2: Sony ericsson K750i (as a contract upgrade from my K700i)

3: new display, either 20" ACD via edu discount or a dell one

4: new belkin 7 Port USB hub

5: A Griffin iTrip / RadioSHARK

a display would be considered an ultimate luxury, and it probably wont happen....me and my housemates will have to be careful with regards to our energy uses next year, as it's not included in the rent:(

this would be the only thing that would prevent me from getting a display: the energy costs, as leaving things on standby jsut wont cut it for me next year. its either on or COMPLETELY off.

My next 5 computer related items most likely will be:

1. Epson Perfection 3490 Photo Scanner (using points from my CompUSA network rewards points I got from purchase of iMac, printer & Apple Care)
2. 2GB stick of RAM for iMac
3. Wacom graphics tablet (Mother's Day gift for my wife)
4. 250GB external hard drive for video/audio storage & backup to go with the 120GB drive I currently use
5. New computer chair

Wow, everyone is so realistic about their purchases (ie, it's probably really stuff that you'll get). I'm going to do 2 lists - my wishlist and my real list.

Wish
1. Powermac G5 Quad
- upgraded to Quadro card
- 16gigs RAM
- 2x500GB HD

4. MacBook Pro 2.16Ghz

3. Sony TRV25 Camcorder (had this for a few years now)
4. Titanium Powerbook 1Ghz (had this for almost 3 years now)
5. Final Cut Express HD

Wishlist:

20" iMac all wirelessed up, baby
12" iBook
60 GB iPod
1 GB shuffle, for running with
Wacom Graphire tablet - an Intuos would be nice, but with the above kit, it's got to be white and match, hasn't it? :p

Actual list:

Sticking with what I've got - it works, and I'm skint.

1. MacBook Pro 1.83
2. Tivo
3. A "Big" plasma
4. Bluetooth GPS for my Treo 700w

Don't get the c330 I got it for xmas and it's crap! The battery door broke in 2 weeks and the share function is useless on a mac. The video is also very bad.

An iMac 20" Core Duo for my youngest daughter.
A running car for my other daughter.
A downpayment on real estate for my other daughter.
Materials to finish my basement including a gas fireplace, bathroom, and
studio control room.
A back-up generator.
