Nexus 5

I'm thinking about upgrading to the n5 from iPhone 5 soon. I've had it for a little over a year and it's starting to decline in battery and performance. I'm sort of shocked really, as it's still such a 'new' device (to me, anyway).

Is it silly to upgrade so close to the launch of a new nexus device? I'd like a bigger screen than my current 4" but anything more than 5" isn't really of interest to me. And rumor has it the next one will be a bit larger. Also, I've read that this close to a new Nexus launch the previous model will go on sale. Is this true?

The Nexus 5 battery isn't a lot better it does last me more than 8 hours like my old iPhone 5. It does last me to 8-9pm being unplugged from 6am in the morning. I don't do any heavy gaming, just texting and normal stuff that's not to taxing on the battery. I would wait, but I was on the same boat I didn't want a 5.5" device.

Good battery life for the Nexus 5? In your dreams!

My iPhone 4 has a way, way way better battery life. The N5 beats the iPhone in every other aspect though. Much faster, better apps, more functions (NFS i.e.).

For me the poorer battery life is partly compensated by the wireless charger. Another nice function iPhones don't have.

I would love to get the Nexus 5, but since it's not with Verizon and there is no SD card capabilities.. I probably won't end up buying. I love having my 32GB SD card in my phones.

Anyone having issues charging theirs? Mine is a bit temperamental when plugged in. Sometimes it charges fine and sometimes it appears to, then drops to 40-50% battery within half an hour. Then drains normally.

It's fine charging wirelessly though. Bit odd. Hoping new version of Android will sort it.

My nexus would not gain a battery percentage overnight, even though it was still charging and had the charge icon. I changed the stock power adapter and it's ok now

Whats the max amount anyone would pay for one of these now a days used and will it still receive all updates in the future or do they cutoff once the new Nexus is released?

While it may stop getting updates after 2 years, this being a Nexus phone basically guarantees long term custom ROM support, since all the drivers are available for developers.

I mean, the Nexus S is still getting builds from CM11.

Considering picking up one used to go with my current other off contract phones and heard the Nexus 6 is way too big for my liking.

I think mine probably is too. Mine sits on a wireless charger all day during the week while I'm at work so it's hard to judge. Over the weekend it eats up battery, but I use it quite a lot.

Meh, it doesn't bother me. Might pick up a new charger and try that.

Do it - its the best way to stay tied to the Android ecosystem.

For $375 I get to play in the WP (Lumia 635) and Android (Nexus 5) platforms contract-free. There are some tradeoffs, but the Nexus 5 is honestly a great phone. Was my second favorite Android in 2013.

Like was mentioned - Nexus means there will be custom support for a long, long time.

pretty bad. the speaker is bad, quality is very bad and updates won't fix it.

Speaker sounds fine on mine, very clear and decent volume. I wonder if you have a bad unit or they fixed the design at some point.

Camera is a bit better, aside from the OS updates there was a new camera app update.

they didn't.

probably it's enough for you. but my Moto G and iPhone 5 sound a lot better.

Have you listened to more than one unit? Otherwise it may be a quality control issue and you ended up with one of the bad ones. The one I have doesn't sound any different than an iPhone.
