Well said......well said!Unfortunately, this feels like one of those elaborate ruses where a "tipster" is really just messing with the people that are lusting for information.
That being said, I can (and hope to) see this happening. Couch is right...the 16gb with the 2300mAh battery being priced at $299 would be a BRILLIANT move. Give buyers a decent amount of storage and a decent battery size all while keeping that amazing sub-$300 price.
Then, for those of us that want it all...a 32gb model with a large battery to compete with the big boys for $100 more. We get the 32gb storage size we've all been wanting AND the big battery to power it all day. That's the stuff that nerd dreams are made of!

Very skeptical of the non-source and idea they would just leave empty space in 16GB version, but I want to believe!!

Google doesn't charge $100 for double the memory line Apple does so I'm not buying those numbers. I can believe $399 for a 32 GB but not $299 for a 16GB. I'd think it would be $349

This just seems so odd. Having the same phone with a different size battery. Would love it if true, but no one has ever tried this before. Not to say it can't be done. Just way different, and outside the box. Maybe Google is trying something to see if they can spark a huge launch. Just hope Google and LG will be ready this time.
It does seem odd, thus why it feels like it might just be a prank. But the good news, if it is true, is that this may alleviate the problems with trying to pick one up when it launches. The people that want a Nexus but don't want/need the larger storage and bigger battery or that don't want to spend more than $299 will go for the "base" model. That will hopefully leave plenty of the "high end" model for those of us that want it (like me).

I don't think we should get our hopes up. Just about every spec has been leaked. Everyone has shown disappointment with the battery, and now conveniently the battery capacity changes with a higher end model? I doubt it.
Again, not putting stock into that latest rumor, but...
Maybe the 32GB/3000 mAH variant requires the use of a nano-SIM since it's a bigger battery with less room, while the 16GB/2300 mAH variant uses the micro-SIM card since it's a smaller battery with more room.
Maybe that's why we keep seeing varying specs/leaks in terms of the nano/micro SIM. in terms of dimensions, and in terms of pricing.
: shrug :
I hate to say it, but the battery size is a big deal for me (not really the size, but the longevity). I always have access to a charger, but I hate having to charge my phone at least 2 times a day, and I am a very light user.
I don't think the battery, even at 2300, will be that bad.
2300 is really within range of today's battery sizes for these types/sizes of smartphones (meaning, non-Note III). For example, the S4 is merely 300 mAH more and is a SnapDragon 600 (less power efficient). The word on the street is that the SnapDragon 800 is more power efficient, so I would think that would, more or less, make up the 300 mAH difference.
You have to remember the dimensions of the Nexus 5. It's not the size of a G2, and I think this isn't a bad thing, per se. Google did say they didn't want to increase phone size. This should appease those that keep clamoring about the difficulties (sometimes "impossibilities") of using the device one handed.
I wish the 2300 mAH was higher, too, but I'll wait for reviews before I dismiss it.
The leaked Service Manual lists 16GB, 32GB and 2300mAH. This rumor doesn't sound reasonable to me. Also, the FCC is shutdown right now, so if it was true, it would likely delay the release.
Very true. Real world usage will be the ultimate test. I swear I need a good camera. I don't even take photos with my nexus 4 b.c it is that bad. It does a good job with still photos in the daylight with HDR on, but then the shutter speed goes to crap.
