Only part that sucks is having to that multiple times.....or worse yet having the package "lost in transit" and having to convince CS you aren't trying to game the system.....

There's a lot more that can go wrong with this method. Not saying its bad - I've had decent experiences (not horrible, not great), but in no way does it compare to Apple's CS.

That said, if this puppy comes in around N4 pricing, I'm all over it like a fat kid on cake.

Yup - stock soars quarter after quarter yet the company rarely actually cuts a profit.....one of the great mysteries of the business world.

If I'm Apple, I have no problem where I am. Always amazes me the armchair CEOs on here who KNOW what Apple should do and are boisterous about it. Guaranteed if all the posters on here started a tech company like Apple, they'd fail with a majority of the ideas thrown about on here.

For the record, I'm a HUGE Amazon fan. Prime is one of the greatest services out there, and now that I have a Macbook Air - I'm seriously considering swapping my iPad for a Kindle Fire (now that the processor is up to snuff. Previous generations have always been slow). I just have too much content on iTunes which would either NOT transfer or be a pain....

Agreed live prime as well. As long as Google search is as big as it is. Google will have no issued selling the nexus 5 and beyond at cost. If they want to make more money like Apple they can off the phone, but they don't had the followers that Apple has. Keep it cheap, and get all the money you can off the sales after the nexus is paid for.

Absolutely agree. Let's just that's part of the extra cost you pay when buying an iPhone :)

Really wish they would put the headset jack on the bottom like they did originally. I believe they had it right so does apple.

Oh well that is interesting. Did not know that. Thanks for the link. I would still say that is were all the money if for Google and Apple.

Forbes recently had an article that discussed Amazon.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/gregsatell/2013/08/15/why-amazon-is-a-lousy-business/

I don't agree with the assessment that Amazon is a lousy business, though. I think Jeff Bezos knows exactly what he is doing, and it will work out for a better future.

Apple used a different method than Amazon and Google to grow their market. Since Apple was first with the iPhone, they used exclusivity to grow their market. That wouldn't work for Google and Amazon with phones and tablets, so they went a different route by undercutting Apple's prices while offering products that were marketed as being equivalent.

Yea I agree. I have always liked the business model of offering a product for almost cost, and gaining more customers. If the product is good, and the consumer likes you. You may have won a customer for life. In Google case. If they get a customer to buy the nexus phone. You talking about a year's worth of spending in the play store, and possible a repeat customers. That will again spend more money in the play store. Win, win for Google.

Still find it hard to believe the dimensions are smaller than the N4. I hope it's true.

The Nexus 5 screen is only slightly larger than the Moto X -- 4.7 compared to 4.9 -- and the Moto X is considerably smaller than the Nexus 4. The first thing I thought when I held the Nexus 4 is that the bezels wasted way too much space. So, I don't find it hard to believe.

I find it odd that talk time is listed as so much worse than the Nexus 4. Especially since talk time won't even take into account the screen being on. And the Nexus 5 will have a more efficient CPU.

That stood out to me too, but we all know the 15+ hour talk time of the Nexus 4 didn't quite live up to its hype. Wasn't it later changed to 10 hours or something?

Good point.

Something like that. But I think anandtech only got like 7 or 8 realistically. But even then, 9 hours isn't much better...

I just noticed on page 235 of the manual there is a diagram for a "Micro_SIM Socket." Unless this is another error in the draft, the rumor of the Nano SIM may not be true.

Why Google are you killing me with this battery. Seriously this is the only thing holding me back from this bad boy. I'm so happy they finally upped the storage to 32GB (well, the GNex had 32, but the Nexus 4 didn't). Even with the more efficient processor I just can't see this giving me better battery life than my S4.

This isn't directly related to the Nexus 5, but for those of you who plan to use StraightTalk with it, like I do, this is some interesting information.

StraightTalk has updated their website with clarification about data usage. It says there is a 2.5GB cap, and you are not prohibited from streaming with the service. I was told on another forum that streaming is against the terms of service, but on this page where it explains apps that drain data quickly, it says this about such things: "We're not saying not to use them."

I hope this is helpful for someone. I already have my StraightTalk SIM ready to be used. If I have any of the issues I've heard other people complain about, I'm going with AT&T GoPhone. I only use about 400MB a month (I'm almost always on WiFi) so I think I'll be safe.

Everything I've seen has been about micro SIM. Nano SIM hasn't really taken off globally yet.

If the event is October 14th wouldn't the invites have gone out today?

Artem Russakovskii from Android Police said that the October 14th date that was leaked was just the technical acceptance date. My understanding is that the technical acceptance date is the date that the carriers have to report whether or not the device successfully completed trials. If that is true, then perhaps the rumor saying it will be announced and launched at the end of October is true.

Battery life is important yet it's at the bottom of my list. I'll never let that stop me from buying a phone that otherwise meets my requirements.

Besides recently I bought a 2nd gen Anker Astro 2 external battery / charger. It recharges my SGS 4 & iP5 concurrently very quickly. Highly portable, not bulky, for only $40 on Amazon.

I'm very happy with this solution.

Anyone going to be livid if the Nexus 5 does not come to Verizon? I might have to bite the bullet and switch to T-mobile

"Anonymous Tipster" says...

16GB and 2300mAh battery for $299

32GB and 3000mAh battery for $399

Very skeptical of the non-source and idea they would just leave empty space in 16GB version, but I want to believe!!

http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-N...different-battery-size-for-each-model_id48068

I was just coming to post this. This does seem pretty unlikely. I'm reading that it would have to pass through the FCC again for the 3000mAh version. But 32gb and 3000 mAh would absolutely be worth an extra $100. Please do it google. Or just give us the 3000 mAh in both.
