I'm tempted by nexus 6 as a tablet on the go type option. Never had a nexus

Would you guys think it's worth it? I love my note 4 but I would like to try the nexus

Nope, not with you having the Note 4.

I still do not believe what I am seeing and experiencing with the Ascend Mate 2. Tons cheaper unlocked, fast and excellent ram management.

Read the most helpful reviews on Amazon. Those guys were not kidding as far as the dollar spent.

Nexus 6 speculation

As many know I've been patiently waiting on the Nexus 6 for like since forever, well due mainly to availability and some bad reviews, mostly the real review by flossy carter, I've decided to pass on the nexus 6. Instead I've been rocking my iPhone 5s lately and I've gotten real comfortable with it. Aside from battery life it's holding up well as a phone and when I need s bigger screen I've been turning to the LG G Pad 8.3 as my multi-media device.

Well my insatiable appetite for pure Google led me to Best buy today to pick up a Nexus 9. It was $519 out the door for the 32GB version so for right now I'll go with the iphone 5s as my phone and switch between tablets for my larger screen fixation. Maybe try one of the new Sony phones that releases next year.

Anyways I'm officially off the Nexus 6 bandwagon and I'll have my thoughts of the Nexus 9 up later this week

Look forward to hearing your impressions on the nexus 9 and how it is as a tablet, and how it holds up over the week of use build wise (is it as bad a finger print magnet as some of the YouTube reviewers say) etc. Enjoy it :)

I played with one in the att store today. It was not as big as I imagined and was pretty light. Speakers were good but not so loud as my HTC one m8. It could even fit in my front jeans pocket. Now I have to convince myself to pay 650 bucks for it.

Nexus 6 speculation

Just picked up a brand new 2nd gen Moto X for 320 on Craigslist. Still in the plastic. Has the football pattern back, couldn't pass up, this should tide me up for Android on a phone.

You little monster ... That's near $230 less than I just paid. What's the football pattern back? Not seen that one. Mine is still in transit with the postal service from Spain.

Edit ... Googled it ;)

Unless you want Lollipop now or own both there's no point going from Note 4 to Nexus 6.

Touchwiz is more than a reason to leave a Samsung device.

It has a lot of useful features that iOS has or will borrow. I like the pen stuff, split screen multitasking, eye stay so screen doesn't time out reading, proper keyboard with number row on top and shows letter case, etc. and disable things I don't need.

Nexus 6 speculation

Must say I actually don't mind touchwiz in Samsung's 2014 flagship / premier devices - there are a few things still irk like some gui aesthetics are still clashing. Even lollipop update whilst finally sorting out dialer, contacts and messages aesthetic looks - the Samsung Keyboard needs a material make over too. Also odd things like when in contacts and you add a number the number input part aesthetically is wrong and still in its old gingerbread style. (Blocky squares with embossed edges)

But yeah at least it has customisable app drawer and folders in there, and it's easy to change desktop wallpaper and lock screen wallpapers.

The unnecessary background services and large memory usage is still a major problem Samsung just seem unable to fully address. They need to do what HTC did and instead of revising touchwiz on the backbone of legacy touchwiz, they need to start completely from scratch and optimise optimise optimise. Sense 5 & 6 from HTC offer pretty much the same customisation options as touchwiz but is faster and as memory efficient as Stock Android which is a real feat.

Whilst on the subject LG also need to go back and do the same as their skin is very heavy too. The G3 on a 2gb device is very laggy in use compared to the 3gb version.

But yeah other than a few gripes at Samsung for poor memory management and odd aesthetic choices (still feels like their design teams are often not singing from the same hymn sheet) I do like the main launcher part of touchwiz, and think a lot of the stick it gets is undeserved (whilst some certainly is).

That being said I'm still looking forward to getting my Moto x 2014 and seeing between it and my Alpha which I will prefer to use as my main android (for at least a couple of months anyway ;) )

Whenever people mention a phone's speakers they always either talk about max volume, if they're front-firing, or whether they're stereo. I'm not interested in max volume because I don't intend walking around the streets blasting out r'n'b to anyone within earshot. Stereo isn't all that important either when the speakers are so close together. Rear-facing speaker(s) aren't so good but on the side like the iPhone is fine.
What I look for in a speaker is sound quality. Most phones sound tinny, or in the case of the Nexus 6 and HTC M8 they'll have some midrange but also a brash treble. The iPhone 6+ has a lovely warm sound to the speaker. It has a decent midrange and some bass, but not a hint of bright and edgy treble. I never see any reviews state how amazing the 6+ loudspeaker is, which I find baffling. It's fantastic for multimedia.

Maybe because it's average (iPhone 6) to below average (iPhone 6+).

http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_4-review-1147p6.php

The HTC One M8 seems to be universally accepted as having the best speakers. Straight out of the box I thought woooaha, this 6+ sounds good and so I asked my girlfriend to play a song on her M8, then I played the same song on my 6+. I was secretly thinking that it sounded better on mine but my girl came right out and said it, the sound was better on the 6+.
I wasn't expecting it to be even close. I don't care what reviewers say, we have both A/B'd the two phones and when it comes to sound quality (not volume), the 6+ wins.

That link you gave me appears to be rating the speakers purely on volume. The Note 4 has a quite nasty, tinny speaker and yet it came out the winner. The excellent sounding 6+ came last, and the HTC M8 score was mediocre. This is exactly what I'm talking about, some idiot reviewer not testing quality, only volume.

Finally got to use one of these bad boys and oh man. The size is excellent. Doesn't feel to big or anything, feels GREAT in the hand. Screen was also seemingly bright enough but it was on max.

The thing I was worried a lot about, burn in, actually is quite frightening however. The nice store dude at tmobile who showed me his personal nexus 6 (also was looking at demo) didnt think he had screen burn, but I could actually see the O home key burnt in on the all white screen he showed me. Didnt look at the nav bar much but didnt think it was burnt in.

This is sort of worrying. The display model however, had no burn in that I could see. They said it was out for 2 or 3 weeks but one thing to mention is that the screen saver that came on whenever the phone was sat down had no nav bar or status bar, so that meant, no burn in of those elements. I didn't look too hard but thought I saw other burn in on the white background from the nexus 6 ad the screensaver was froze on.

I actually wasn't all that worried about this, it was just in the back of my mind as something to consider, but now. I am slightly more worried than before.

Front firing speakers were loud, and sounded PRETTY good. Not amazing, but I don't expect amazing from phone speakers. The tmobile guy played a Bruno Mars video (I hate that guy) and it was amazing on that screen. Sound was good treble wise, maybe only very slightly tinny, kind of lacking bass but overall hard to judge as I was in a mall. Definitely loud though. Good for hearing your phone ring for sure.

Camera I didnt have much time with unfortunately, or many subjects. I took a few pics of the store directly opposing me in the mall and it seemed alright. Pretty noisy though but I kind of expected that, the iphone 6+ at the applestore also took a surprisingly noisy shot too though, so who knows?

I do love the size though. In my opinion, seemed pretty much perfect. Lollipop was beautiful and smooth. No jerky weirdness, no hangups, smooth and speedy. The same as the 6+, or dare I say, better.

I asked about his battery life and he said it easily gets him through a day and that the turbo charging is amazing, he played 2dots or some kind of game a lot while they had no customers and he said he had no probs. I'm not convinced it would be the same with me with how I use my phone but who knows?

In the end I couldn't get one from them though, apparently no t mobiles in my state (KY) received any actual physical stock of them, they had the 32gb available to ship but said they couldn't do it on a 10 dollar prepaid plan (I think you can with a 40 dollar plan on the Internet but they didn't mention it). Alas, I am doubtful 32gb would be sufficient anyway.

So besides the worry I have for burn in, great phone, and I'm still very tempted. I am likely to order one and a 6+ (Maybe didnt have too many ram issues with the display but I didn't get to go hard like I usually do with my phone) and just take back which one I don't like, and keep my favorite.

I agree about the 6+ speaker, I was also surprised at how full and natural the sound is. I'm coming from a Note 2 and while that speaker wasn't terrible in itself, the direction straight away from the user was. When showing Youtube movies to a friend etc. I always had to cup my hand around the phone for them to get a decent sound. And the Note 4 has the same speaker position. After my Note 2, honestly I'd take a really crap speaker on the side over a superb one on the back any day.

Of course nothing beats the M8 speakers though (or maybe Nexus 6, haven't tried it myself though). But I'm totally OK with my 6+ speakers.

T-mo is having their Black Friday deal again. Bunch of phones on sale, with a code; Nexus 6 is one of them. You get $48 off (don't know why such an odd number).

lol an XDA forum post is hardly indicative of there being "plenty of people" returning their phones for that reason.

Whyever not? It shows that plenty of people who value good sound are returning their Note4 purely due to the gnarly speaker.
It would be a dealbreaker for me on such an otherwise stonking multimedia device.

Its like going to a Apple support forum. Most people present problems......if you based your opinion of Apple products by going to the MacRumors iPhone forum......you see a ton of people reporting problems. Should we assume ALL people are having the same problems or it represents everyone?

So you're claiming that the tinnny Note 4 speaker sounds excellent? It may be loud but it's horrible in my experience. Of course some people won't mind, or won't ever use it. If you intend using it then I would wager it's a dealbreaker.

That is not at all what he is saying....

He is saying forums are usually where people report problems, and that lots are not returning the note 4 b.c of the speaker based on a few forum post.
